Great film, my mechanic did the same exercise on my Daytona a couple of years ago, and really cool to see what goes into that job

Except with the Daytona you have to do it 6 times! Thanks for watching.

Great video Tom. My mondy QV is injected (K Jetronic) so I really watched this for the entertainment value. Not sure if you work on the injected cars or not, but If you ever do a video on a Metering unit rebuild I'll be the very happy camper. Cheers again. Marc
@tomyangnet3 жыл бұрын
If I shot a video of me rebuilding the Jetronic unit it would be watching me pack it in a box and shipping it to the rebuilders! Pretty boring. Thanks for watching!

Just wondering why you didn't remove the Air Bypass Screw & Locknut.
@brettlewis37952 жыл бұрын
Tom I'm about to rebuild four of these on a 79 308 - thank you for the tutorial! Do you have a recommendation for an ultrasonic cleaner and fluid - I guess I'm about to invest in one of those now??
@tomyangnet2 жыл бұрын
I actually don’t. My first one burned out by shorting out internally and popped my circuit breaker. I couldn’t figure out what was shorting out so it killed me to have to throw it out and buy another one. The only recommendation is a gallon capacity will basically clean one at a time when you have everything disassembled. That’s not necessarily a bad thing so you won’t mix parts up. I use a small fruit jar to keep the small parts immersed in the cleaner. The sound waves travel through the glass. Good luck and thanks for watching!
@jazzbuff13943 жыл бұрын
What solution do you use in the ultrasonic cleaner? Do you heat it up, if so what temp? I've been told it's good to remove some of the lead plugs to clean the crud out of the passages. Does the ultrasonic do that just as well? Have you ever had the plugs leak after an ultrasonic cleaning? I noticed you left the Air Bypass Screw & Locknut in place. Is there any benefit in removing these for better cleaning of the passages or does it make it harder to set the carbs up again if they have been disturbed?
@tomyangnet3 жыл бұрын
I use a carburetor specific cleaner diluted for the ultrasonic cleaner. i run my cleaner at about 40-45C. I don't mess with the lead plugs as getting sealed back in place could be problematic.

Hey Tom, great vid. What type of fuel do you recommend for vintage Ferraris? The highest octane non ethanol fuel available?
@tomyangnet3 жыл бұрын
Decent high octane is recommended 91 or better (US spec) and if you can find non ethanol pump gas. I think VP race fuel is too $$ for the benefits to use it all year round. If you plan on storing the car, it would be nice to have a tankful of it, but not necessary if you’re driving the car regularly.

How bout the idle jet not oring,wat happened
@dmenkhau3 жыл бұрын
When putting the idle screws back in, you mention 3 turns out. Birdman's instruction's say (3) 360 degree turns out. Is it (3) 180 degree turns like you did, or (3) 360 degree turns? I'm getting ready to rebuild mine, so I'm digging up every bit of info and videos I can before I delve into it. GREAT VIDEO BTW!
@tomyangnet3 жыл бұрын
It’s three full turns. I had it wrong in the video. Thanks for asking.

Hi there what causes the sprayer jets not to squirt after assembly
@tomyangnet7 ай бұрын
Just a little piece or trash, or fuel residue.
@jackrichards18633 жыл бұрын
I run a couple of dcnvh Webers , so similar to the dcnf with minor changes and a smaller throat. fixing the jets gets a little complicated . I'd have liked a closer up of this model to see what sort of balance is stock. Maserati rather than Ferrari . Very limited information available on these old Italian carburettors.

Wow, great detailed video! Do you ever take payment and do these for people….say, people like me who have a 308 as well now??😆
@tomyangnet3 жыл бұрын
Cleaning the carbs is just half the process of tuning these cars. It’s probably the easiest part compared to setting them up, balancing them, and getting them to run right in sync with the ignition. I prefer to work on the V-13 carburetor stuff, but occasionally work on the V-8s and V-6s!
@nationhotrods3 жыл бұрын
@@tomyangnet well your video is giving me hope at least for the carbs. Even I’m thinking I could follow this video step by step and I’ve never opened up a carb… I’m not sure where you’re at but if it was anywhere local I’d gladly pay you to have you rebuild mine!!
