Thanks for the love Lou. Getting the master cylinder clearance is of course something I got wrong and it was not till I was 15-20 minutes into driving that the car ground to a halt with frozen brakes. The quick test drive was fine but the longer run ended in a tow. Once adjusted the problem was gone. As for the master installation it is a night and day difference with A/C which makes it nearly but not totally impossible. I just did my bleeding in situ and taking the reservoir on and off was easy enough to not bother struggle with invisible nuts.
@LouTrottier2 жыл бұрын
A/C makes that much of a difference.hmmm ! I stand corrected.
@johnmcdermott55052 жыл бұрын
I also found that lower nut on the master cylinder could be installed without too much difficulty with the reservoir installed if you have the right length extension on the ratchet. That spec from Ferrari for the master cylinder clearance has just ridiculous tolerance given how difficult it is to get good measurements! I resorted to a vacuum bleeder as was worried about getting a leak at the reservoir with my pressure bleeder then still had it mysteriously overfill and leak everywhere. Gotta love those shop gremlins!!! Cant wait to see your car back on the road Lou.

Excellent videos! Many were discussing the wonderful quality of work down at the Amelia a few weeks ago. I use a Motive pressure bleeder on many cars, sometimes track side, but I find it much less messy to just screw on the cap and pump it up while checking the reservoir. This prevents the fluid from spraying everywhere if the cap pops off and uses much less fluid than leaving it in the bottle.

Many were discussing me and my car? Brake fluid, Not a fan of it, That’s for sure. Thanks.

@@LouTrottier Yes. I had my recent purchase 308 QV at the Cars and Coffee the day before the big event. Many people, mostly Ferrari Club folks, came up to me offering tips and advice. Most of the folks said I needed to follow your channel because your detail and explanations were wonderful. I agreed because I’ve been following for a while before I made the purchase. Thanks for putting out great work and exposure for these cars.

BTW I do have a Motive power brake bleeder - with re-engineered hoses of course. It's a wonder how a swivel fitting can make one's life soooo much easier!

This was a wonderful video Lou. I did not realize they had clearance adjusting screws for the brake pads on the brake calipers. Your patience really comes through and that exactly what it takes to get a super satisfying end result. Looking forward to seeing the car on all fours with the finished touches started soon. See you soon! PS wipe off that brake bleeder! LOL

As a Porsche owner ('69 guessing by it's bumpers?), I would have figured you messed with Ate brakes on your Weissach wunder - I remember seeing them on some 914's I worked on. Great job though and good luck with your build

Hello Lou: I have a '79 308 and am trying to remove the engine sump plate with the powertrain in the car. it drops about 5/8" and is loose but will not come off. Also, if I can remove this part, can I also remove the windage tray from the bottom without engine disassembly? Your thoughts appreciated
