Hello Lou, Bonjour from FRANCE ! I would like to thanks you for all these videos of your "Project 308". I have watched all of them from A to Z. The content is excellent and they are fun to watch, not boring at all with your great sense of humor. I applause to your courage and patience to get things done right, I mean the way it must be done with professional quality job. That car needed indeed a serious and full restoration. The good thing is that everything will have been fully inspected, fixed and upgraded when needed. I have learned many things by watching your videos that will be very useful for me. I'm an individual who is used to do almost everything on my cars. My only problem is I don't have enough space in the garage to let me keep the car dismantled for weeks/months. I have bought few month ago a Ferrari 308 GT4 in pretty good shape bur it also requires some work, but clearly not as much as on yours. The good news is that it is 90% identical for mechanical aspects. I have already taken care of: - rebuilding distributor as one bearing was gone completely. - renewed the carburetors after ultrasound cleaning. Changed all seals and membranes etc. Also changed fuel lines - changed alternator regulator (what a pain to access it without removing the alternator) - renewed front brakes: one caliper was seriously seized. Caliper renewed as you did, changed front rotors, brake hoses, and front bearings. All front axle parts painted on my to do list for this winter/spring: - remove radiator to fix a little leak. Simple soldering should do it. I'll take advantage of this to check and change all rubber sleeves, change thermostat and check water pump. - Change timing belts. - Check and adjust valve clearance. Paint valve cover as wrinkle red - Replace shock absorbers and all bushings. - Renew rear brakes calipers and hand brakes. - Get all rear chassis parts powder coated. I'm looking forward watching the next episodes ! Emmanuel 🙋♂️

I think i would have ditched re-running the brake booster line. I would have installed an electric vacuum pump and hide it under the dash where the hose ran originally. Great video and good luck with this very fickle lady.

Hmmm, when I did the heater and booster hoses on my car I attached the end of the new hose to the end of the old hose by drilling holes and kind of sewing them together with bailing wire then sprayed silicon lubricant on them while feeding into the back while my buddy pulled from the front. Did them one at a time and I think it took about 20 minutes. Maybe I just got lucky. On the RH side I replaced both A/C lines with reduced barrier hose so it went real easy.
@LouTrottier2 жыл бұрын
I’m sure the stuck hydraulic hose complicated the process for me. Thanks.

Nice work Lou. Normally running the coolant and booster lines in the rockers is not a big deal. The only time I have ever seen it problematic is when the rockers are repaired and not fully replaced. In those instances a patch will be welded in and the interior slag reeks havoc on the passage of the hoses.
@LouTrottier2 жыл бұрын
They have been repaired at some point, I agree and suspect that was the source of the resistance.

Lou, if your there, are you familiar with Sil-Phos? It is used in HVAC, I'm an ex refrigeration guy among many other things, and this product is used with oxy/acetylene to weld copper and will not leak like soft solder and has a burst pressure of 1100psi. If you are going to do hot water lines in enclosed places this would be the product for you. If you need any info reach out. 5/8 refrigeration copper is equivalent to 1/2" O.D. Plumbing copper. And if installed properly and insulated you improve the heating delivery of your heating system compared to original. Just trying to help.
@craighearn7472 жыл бұрын
Lou, I also have all the tools to make that in 5/8" I.D. Hose. Which is 1/2" water copper pipe, 5/8" O.D., which I assume is the I.D. of that hose.

Hello, Lou! Great job! Being a plastics "expert", it worries me the protective film you put... Some plastic films are breathable, some are not. In Net, if the film is not breathable, it could stain the beautiful paint work... You should make some testing from time to time to avoid a posible tragedy... best regards!

Hello Lou, great work, progress and attention to detail! 👍 What kind of guesstimate do you have for the finished restoration? Owning a 88 328GTS and a 98 F355 manual, I’m fully aware of the difficulties of being a mechanical gynecologist working on these cars.

The F106 is a beautiful engine and to answer your question: when Enzo Ferrari was alive they never did make money and were on the brink of bankruptcy most of the time but that has no bearing on the legend or value of these machines.
