I bought a 2006 430 last Oct 2020. I've had problems from day 1. It's in the shop now for a clutch and ball joints. I also only got 1 key, everything else is missing. The repairs are really taking a toll on my finances. I'm not rich, but I figured if I've gone this far I might as well keep the car. I'm not dumping all this money into the car, just so someone else can drive a well maintained Ferrari.

I honestly don’t get the size of the bills you have entertained Simon. I have put 165,000 KM on my own 360 Modena over the past 18 years and I have never had any bills anywhere near the amounts you quote. Surely you can find an enthusiastic independent service agent in Australia rather than get your trousers pulled down by a main agent? I’m paying AUS$ 1000 for my annual service and AUS$2000 for the 3 year cam belt service. Your car looks great, a bit boomy with the Cappy 3 exhaust, try removing the cats. Keep up the good work but please, find a decent independent Ferrari shop so you can keep the funds in the bank for more petrol!

@@mguytv I can’t recommend I’m afraid as I’m based in the U.K. But there must be a network of owners around Sydney that can help you with that. Removing the cats definitely frees up that wonderful V8, it does become loud though, properly 360 race car loud!

It does really sound you got a bit ripped off. I think the 360 is quite similar to my F430 and I recently had as well a small service plus V-belt replacement done here in Switzerland and that was around 2500 AUS$. Furthermore my F1 system broke recently and the quote was about 6500 AUS$ (pump, accumulator, valve and work). I do have some papers from the previous owners and it seems the cats are really expensive (about 6.5 grand EACH), so I do agree with the other folks recommending removing them.

There”s a good reason why the dealership gave you a great deal & they saw you coming from a mile away. In addition, by trading in your vehicles to the dealer, they would’ve given you wholesale trade in price, which is way less than if you sold privately. Given the initial major issues you’ve had to repair following purchase, especially from a dealership, I would strongly recommend you investigate your rights under the Australian Consumer Law with regards to seeking compensation. In addition, would avoid dealerships like the plague & find a reputable Ferrari specialist instead. Joining a Ferrari Car Club would be a great way to get advice & recommendations as a start.

I follow your channel re your AMGs , I’m not a Ferrari fan but certainly appreciate what they mean to people and what this car means to you. Would I ever buy one , no, has this video been helpful , yes! It is absolutely important that when buying any exotic car like this they need to be inspected by people that know them. I hate to say this but the dealer that sold this car to you .... hmmmmm wow the kindest thing I would say is I’d never go there again..... I’m picturing lots of hair gel, cheap sales patter and too much cologne covering the verbal bullshit.... All that work that was NOT done just landed in your lap. Just reiterates how important a solid service history and thorough pre-purchase inspections are so you have an idea of what you are getting into. However this is all moot now, you have the money , you spent the money and now it’s where it should be, enjoy it!

Love the video. If you ever struggle with garage gradients can use pieces of timber to take the edge off. The big lesson here is that there is no such thing as a cheap Ferrari, typically it is far cheaper to pay more at the outset on an example that is loved as costs thereafter are a lot lower. Saving a few thousand on a purchase upfront typically doesn’t work out, That said, you’re in am amazing position to have such a beautiful car and at least now it has been sorted - hopefully a lot less expense going forward! All the best from the U.K.! Eta: don’t worry about working on the car, it is straightforward, the mechanicals are the same whether it’s a bmw or Lambo...some good KZbin videos on how to do the jobs...also worth trying to keep driving it as much as possible as garage queens tend to get issues.

I am absolutely gobsmacked by these servicing prices you are quoting.. I have driven 170,000 km in my 360 and have never had bills like that. Surely there are independent specialist in Australia too that can carry out this kind of work, rather than let a main dealer workshop pull your trousers down like that. In my experience main dealers are not particularly thorough or ‘caring’ in any case whereas an independent will actually take an interest in your car and not rip you off on parts and more importantly, labour cost. It’s a car after all, despite being a Ferrari the principle is the same and any decent mechanic is able to carry out the work. My annual service in the U.K. is 1000 Aus$ and every 3 years the cambelts service is 2000 Aus$. Kudos for you keeping it (had mine 19 years now) but it does upset me to hear the costs you’ve had to endure.

$20 dollars per km running costs not including fuel. Ludicrous

I don’t think of it like that. These are iconic cars that should be preserved and if I have to do it, so be it.

@@mguytv yes, but its still that cost. If your happy paying that for a modena on the road which it seems you are, enjoy.

My opinion is it's still a fuckin car. Whether it's a Ferrari, lamborghini or Bentley. If it needs a tune up or a timing chain or a thermostat it's an engine. I have a range rover. an oil change, changing a headlight etc. It's always extra because it's a range rover. It has a Ford engine (a regular Ford engine) and the same cheap parts that's made to fail. Yes expensive cars are made with (on Purpose alot of individual parts to replace) which are built to make it impossible for you to do just the basics repairs. It's so the gatekeepers, elite and ruling class can keep their hands in your pockets.
