@@superfluous9726 Ferrari peaked with the F40, and possibly the Challenge Stradale. The 458 series is far too anodyne and made for mainstream appeal. Ferrari should never (and never had been) about mainstream appeal.

GAMMASTAR321 Sadly, it already is replaced... but not old. Take a look at the Ferrari 360. If you see one, you still think "oh wow that's a Ferrari". This still is my favourite car. The 488 GTB will hardly replace it as being the best car for me in the world. My all time financial goal is to own one of these - even if the car will be 30 years old then.

Almost everybody knows it's the other way around, I think even you. Ferrari has always been synonym with super car and the definition of it, even before Lamborghini existed. Now, if you say theater, then Lamborghini comes to mind with their oddly shapes. Ferrari never needed to go crazy with their styling. They are simply beautiful.

Vincent Gambini I tried to find it but it isn't on youtube, its from Season 17, episode 7 where he drove three Aston Martins that were all developed at the Nurburgring, he made a point about how trying to make them get a fast lap time ruined them because of the ride and comfort. I hope that the top gear youtube channel will upload it online, but I am not holding my breath.

The 458 stands one of the purest driving experiences I've seen in the last 10 years. The only others being 430 Scuderia, Audi R8 V10 Plus, Porsche 997 GT2 RS, and the Corvette C7.

Ferrari made a huge mistake ditching Pininfarina for their designs. The newer models are harsh and not as elegant. They should have never let that design firm go. Even the new Alfa Giulia is designed by a former Pininfarina designer who left and migrated over to Centro Stile Alfa Romeo. That's why the Giulia is so beautiful. Pininfarina, the best!

Amazing video! A piece of art really! Made me subscribe too :) I am pissed off by all those super cool guys revving their ugly tuned BMWs in the middle of the city annoying everyone else trying to get attention and to be the biggest guy. They completely misunderstand the point of beautiful cars and the lovely voice of an engine. These people sometimes make me feel ashamed for loving cars. But seeing someone like you just sitting by a car admiring its look and talking about its design, sound and story with such a passion reminds me again of what we love in cars and why we're so eager for making that dream just a little more real. The Scuderia version of the 458 will be in production soon. The horsepower is supposed to be bumped up to 600, and torque will be above 400lb.-ft. 0-60 time is speculated at 3.1 seconds or below. The look of the car is pretty wicked.

It doesn't matter. The 458 isn't trying to be a GT-R at all. GT-R's a car that's aimed at delivering crazy performance even at the expense of driver involvement to some level, while the 458 is a car that tries to put its driver at the center of the action and excite them. Also, the 458 is miles ahead of GT-R when it comes to flair.

I always thought that when you bought a Ferrari that you were just buying the brand. The cars were boring to me and I didn't like the way they looked. Thrn I saw the 458. How it looked, how it performed. It is amazing and its finally a Ferrari that lives up to the brands fame and beyond

Well, personal preference aside, the 458 has a few things that allow it to stand above the GT3. Although the GT3 is arguably nimbler (being the hardcore track car that it is), it's 100 horsepower down, slower from 0-60 (albeit by 0.1 seconds), and much less comfortable. Sure, if all you car about is dominating the track and saving a bit of money, the GT3 is the way to go. If you're looking for one of the worlds most well-rounded supercars, the 458 is the car for you.

I'm not a big fan of Ferrari, but I've almost always adored their styling. And the 458 is definetely one of my favorite when it comes to Ferraris. It looks, performs, and sounds the part. I think it's kind of a shame that Ferrari got rid of their manual gearbox though in favor of dual-clutch autos. No of course I haven't driven one to be honest, but I believe with an option for a stick, it could've gotten a spotlight as a car that's truly made for the driver. P.S.: Why did you shave though? :(

About the split screen sat nav/ speedo, on the left screen at the bottom right your speed is always displayed. So you always know how fast you are going..... not as mentioned that when you have the sat nav you have no idea of your speed.

I think in 40 or 50 years it will be the F430 and the 360 that will be considered the classic RMR V8 Ferraris. I prefer the flowing elegant curves to the hard creases of the 458, not to mention the lack of the option of a manual in the 458.

you know that the dual clutch is only fast on the UPSHIFT? the downshift takes a bit longer, because the speed of the gears is essential when accelerating and not that much when braking. the dualclutch gearbox has the NEXT HIGHER speed already engaged and not the lower. so when you say "bang down, bang down" its actually not that fast :)

Most beautiful modern Ferrari for me would be the P 4/5. Although I don't know if that car is technically still a Ferrari because of the complications between Mr. Glickenhaus and Ferrari. The 458 Italia is up there.

The 458 is motoring perfection, in every way it is amazing, one of the true greats and future classics BUT for something so great its too common, compared to its rivals its the better car and every video of Monaco you see one driving around. its become too with women and rich old people driving it, its makes it less special to me. I would much rather have a Lexus LFA because it is a rare giving it a sense of uniqueness the 458 lacks to me.

I am not saying this isn't a great looking car, I just wish they would make their models more distinguishable from each other. Yes, I understand we are supposed to recognise how this is related to the FF and F12, but it just gets a bit underwhelming when they all look so alike.
