Hey Dan if you aren’t happy with loosing timing one your timing belts change a old mechanic told me a trick just cut the timing belt with a sharp knife length wise in the middle off the belt slide the new belt over the same as the old belt when it’s on perfectly the same cut the other half of old belt away and slide the new belts one always works with this kind of belts.greets from Holland 🇳🇱

the belts on that V12 are harmonicly tensioned ; you need to set the tensioners manually until the belts resonate to the corect frequency. that being said ; they are just like any other belt on another car ; as long as they are not loose or mega tight ; the fact we are asked to change them so regularly makes them not really an issue on longevity. ( 550 owner here ) ive had E30s with belts 5 times more millages than ferrari tells us to do it ; and some that where close to 15years old not showing any sign of fatigue ( after inspection and replacement preventivly )
@normalguysupercar Жыл бұрын
Yeah honestly these belts were in perfect condition. But once you're already in there might as well put in the new ones.
@gregmtech Жыл бұрын
@@normalguysupercar so true; every time they look new ... but as you said ; while you're in there ... and considering the cost of parts and or a block ; best not risk it ;)
