This week it’s a full review and roadtest of the Ferrari GTC4 Lusso, a 4-seater, 4-wheel-drive, front-engined V12 grand tourer that’s now discontinued.
CarGuy Damian has considered buying one of these for a long time, and was even offered the last one ever made, but so far has not taken the plunge. But many other people have, including other owners of super-cool car collections. Why?
Well, it’s the most practical Ferrari ever made, it’s beautifully made, luxurious, has decent luggage space with folding rear seats, a glorious V12 engine, and because it’s 4-wheel drive, it can go anywhere in any weather.
Join Damian on his first ever drive of the Lusso, his first impressions, a hearty portion of Beans, and the answer to the all-important question - does one belong in TheCarGuys.tv garage?
Thank you for watching

If I was ever able to get a Ferrari the GTC4Lusso would be what I'd want. Stupid fast, handles great, and you can actually use it other than as a "toy". IMO it's drop dead gorgeous also.

That was great, thanks for uploading! Personally I think people have only recently woken up to how good the FF & Lusso are. In the hands of any normal driver it's basically an F12 that's more versatile. Obviously a more experienced driver would beg to differ but I am not so talented! As a father of two young daughters the opportunities to get behind the wheel of a two seater in my spare time simply doesn't exist. My FF however has seen some miles this year, everything from cross country jaunts to the school run. People want to enjoy these beasts while they can and the FF & Lusso provide more opportunities to do so. That's why values have risen. Yours truly; Blu Tour De France FF owner.

Bang on. I own an FF and it's become obvious that the wider market has woken up to them, and the Lusso. My ideal is an FF with the tech of the Lusso. A Novitec/Capristo set up, or similar, opens up the most delicious noise. It's special every single time and fits 4 people in comfort and luggage. There are no downsides, as lomg as yo don't ever try and calculate the MPG. There is no MPG in the computer, and it isn't because they forgot....

@@pharmacells it's a practical Ferrari. I'm surprised it didn't take off. Ya you can have a cool occasional sports car, but the real boss is a person who felt the need to buy a practical Ferrari. That's more boss level to me personally than any exotic. " I don't drive this to show off I drive it because it's practical" (said about a v12 freaking ferrari.) ya.. That's just epic. And the Ferrari 4 seaters are still freaking amazing cars.

I’ve been around a few of these and always I am amazed how great they look. I do like the FF as much, but also I have to say the 612 - not the modern screaming V12 but still, I’d buy one if I could. Get the GTC4 with warranty and you have the perfect one car garage.

Never liked the lusso until I saw one at the gas station and I understood what this car is about. This is a Ferrari you can truly enjoy everyday and people who are not into cars don't know that this car is something special and it doesn't draw crazy attention like a 458 of 488 would.

@@cowanscott9047 somehow I feel you. My F12 suffers from a lot of electronic gremlins - just a month ago I finally thought they fixed all of that (with another hefty workshop bill) until this week I put the ignition on and "AVHS/manettino/ESC etc."-error messages came on again. It's a nuisance, but fortunately the car itself more than makes up for that.

@@spiller212 Did you replace the battery? I'm kicking myself for not replacing the battery when I first collected it... A slightly weak battery seems to be the cause of so many of the electrical issues in these cars. I eventually had it replaced when I last picked it up from the dealer and immediately noticed that the charge was sitting higher but crucially remained more consistent.. this was on my last journey to the Porsche dealer.. I did wonder if a simple battery swap had done the trick.. I'll never know.. Incidentally I know the guy who runs the Facebook F12/812 owners group and he recently sold his having had enough of the electrical issues. Good on you for sticking with it and I hope you continue to get the enjoyment out of it.
@spiller212
@spiller212 2 жыл бұрын
@@cowanscott9047 yes, the battery definitely seems to be the root of many issues. For whatever reason, Ferrari decided to put the battery next to a 6.3l V12 under the front bonnet - with all the heat coming from the engine, my dealer/workshop told me overheating electrics/batteries is a big issue. He once had an F12 in the workshop with a literally bent battery from the heat of the engine block. I had it replaced last year (own it since 2018) with an OEM FIAMM battery which brought almost no relieve. On top of that, the whole electrics broke down (not enough voltage in the car) during the starting process 7 out of 10 times I started up the car - especially when the engine was already hot. I had the starter engine and the battery replaced with a Varta AGM 95Ah just a month ago. A lot of the issues were gone (like the undervoltage during starting), but, as I said, I recently had another round of AVHS-/ESC-/manettino-errors. I rebooted the car and they were gone. Anyway, the car is in hibernation now and I will have to deal with it next year, should these issues return. A friend of mine owns a 488 GTB from new (had it delivered in 2018) and he also already had to have the battery replaced last year - despite it being plugged into the CTEK-charger every minute the car is not being driven (like my F12 is). It's a shame how Ferrari build the best engines but the worst electrics/electronics, haha. Yes, you could have certainly tried that, but it would have maybe only been a temporary relieve. Does the 812 also suffer from similar issues? Thank you, I do enjoy every second with the car and for me it is the most beautiful GT out there (if not the most beautiful Ferrari from the last 4 decades). I intend to keep it forever (if possible) as I hope it will become a classic once (especially as mine has the "classic" specification - solid black (although I have it wrapped in dark blue - very similar to Blu TdF) with yellow calipers, yellow rev counter, cuoio/black interior and daytona-seats in cuoio with grey stitching. Hopefully you have a good experience with Porsche!

Just jaw dropping, the first time I saw pics of it I imagined it was a prototype they would never build. But then they did and its phenomenal as you have just demonstrated. I think it looks wonderful from nearly every angle from the outside but inside it’s even better. Even the rear centre air vents look like fighter plane engines! A real hairy chested blokes motor if ever there was one, that might be sexist but I really don’t care, what a car. The Ferrari 550 was one of the best handling cars of all time that I’ve ever owned. Even Chris Evans, when I spoke to him, reluctantly confirmed that he wished he hadn’t of sold his. A former member of P1, I’ve driven a wealth of cars, over the years. And you’d be surprised at one of the most used and reliable, is the Maserati Quattroporte I use mine every day. 4.7 of Ferrari power, a real gem!

Hope Damian got a GTC4 Lusso - I have now owned mine for three years; on top of the fact that it has actually gone up in price; the cars grows on you and almost gets prettier each day. I was very worried that after getting it, Ferrari aficionados would berate me for having got a hatchback or wagon and not a "real" Ferrari but nothing would be further from the truth. When you actually see one - massive, long, elegant - better than photos of it by a mile and then having it in the garage, i must say it is a daily joy to get into it and go/come back from work in it. Performance is huge, it is fast - engine sound (fantastic - and I owned a GT3 Porsche before). Really nothing to complain about at all - I have red leather in original Griglio Grey brochure color. The only thing is to keep the warranty as the repairs can be expensive and remember to refresh your tyres because of its heavy weight tyre wear is high - if you drive it hard into corners. For those considering it - it is an unbelievable car, get it and you won't regret it - best Ferrari i have owned thus far - will be a hard day for me to part with it!😁

Built in San Francisco by “The Rodfather” Andy Brizio, it was based on a C-Cab Model-T and featured a Chevy V8 engine. Bonzo had it transported to the UK and kept it until 1976. Great vid - I used one of these as my daily for three years. They’re great. Easy to drive, very quick and has super presence. However the big problem is it has a tiny tank and drinks fuel. You literally spend way too much time with the fuel gauge flashing yellow and looking to refuel. That and it eats tyres. And whilst it’s more reliable and useable than the FF, you see where Ferrari have saved money on interior quality - the leather is much thinner and the steering column is plastic rather than lined in leather. You need to spec more carbon bits because standard trim looks cheap.

91 litres isn't a particularly tiny tank, it just drinks! Little tip: keep the fuel above the half way mark - you burn less 😉The interior is mint, even without loads of carbon. Leather is beautiful. Don't see what the issue is?

@@michaeltriber7903does it actually drink less that way? Doesn't make much sense 🤔

@F22Raptor2006, great question! Less fuel = lighter car. Less air in tank = less evaporation. I find it uses less fuel keeping over half fill. It drinks it pretty quickly

Great Ferrari daily/family car. The 412 and 456 cars still look great. The last car I recall being associated with Enzo was the Testarossa.

I have long lusted after the FF, especially after following Schmee's ownership experiences, but they're getting on a bit now, so I've landed myself with the desire to own one of these GT4C Lussos.....and it simply HAS to be the V12...... THANK YOU CarGuys for the confirmation....now....where's that damn chequebook....?

That car has you written all over it Damien - the combination of the V12 and panoramic roof whilst carving elegantly along a Côte d’Azur coastal highway would be perpetually orgasmic. It’s such a shame it’s been discontinued to make way for what’s fundamentally a fatter version of itself that’ll mainly be bought by total nobsplodges. It’s definitely one of Ferrari’s most under-appreciated gems where they both pushed their own envelope and got basically everything right.

FF>GTC4 Lusso. The hydraulic steering and Pininfarina design are much better than the the Lusso. The FF has much more of an analogue and classic "Ferrari" feel to it. I chose the FF over the Lusso and daily it. The Lusso is also going to be the last V12 2+2.

I always thought that it should have been made with a V8 to begin with as a GT should be. But when they made the V8 without All Wheel Drive they ruined that for me. I want it for winter driving in the States.
