What a tour this was! I can’t thank Jerry enough for inviting me out. A once in a lifetime opportunity that I’ll never forget. Jerry is at the pinnacle of what so many technicians dream of. Working on amazing cars with amazing tools. Can’t beat it. So much passion for the Ferrari brand, I can see Jerry making it far here. And a Honda guy too! I love it! Thank you SO much Jerry. If you enjoyed the tour Jerry took us on, give this video a Like!

Hemostat. Also called a hemostatic clamp; arterial forceps. Anytime you get stitches, always ask the doctor if the hemostats he is using are single use. They always are these days, so ask to take them home with you since they are going to be thrown away anyway. Very handy.

Very cool, loved this tour! Seems like a great guy, and I really relate to his story. I'm more keen on Mazda and Honda, but I guess I wouldn't be opposed to working for an ultra luxury brand if ever offered the chance (though I'm more of a Porsche gal, tbh!) Meanwhile, it's been a bit over a decade since I've last been in the auto field professionally. While I've continued to do it as a hobby through that time, I'm finally considering getting back in to the professional side of things. I'm anxious for a multitude of reasons tbh, but regarding tools, I really appreciate the ideas to add to my otherwise somewhat basic collection.

Also kind of sad to hear that even this work is flat rate. I'm hoping I can find hourly work here in Detroit. As he said, it's not a super high volume locale, and even if it was, I don't want to have to be in a competitive environment for that gravy work. As well, I don't like having to take shortcuts at the potential expense of my quality of work. I like being (relatively) slow and methodical.
@jerryf703
@jerryf703 21 сағат бұрын
Hey! Don’t let flat rate discourage you! Plenty of entry level positions that start hourly and progress to flat rate. One thing that comes to mind is Porsche’s apprenticeship program that is available at some of the dealers. Give it a shot! Also plenty of independent shops that specialize in euro and I am sure could use good people. Good luck!

No, we don’t get extra time for being careful, It’s already expected. They're definitely ripping their techs off there with the type of cars they're working on.

personally if you are certified and have the knowledge to repair and fix the cars you are working on./ I think the company should pay you enough to afford one. I am a mopar tech.

I know working on exotic cars seems awesome, but I would not enjoy the added stress of how expensive and tedious everything is. Not a scratch. I will stick to mowers, ATV’s and trucks. 😂

Depends on many factors, like location, management. Warranty is horrendous, some service campaigns pay half a tenth (0.05hr)! Customer pay jobs are nice though. My experience is limited. I only did Maserati for less than a year before being promoted to the Ferrari team.

@@E39M5SPEED No they’re not, not at this location especially. Flat rate at this Ferrari of Washington starts at $28. Also, I work with a Master Certified Ferrari tech and he never made $150 per hour even while he was shop Forman out in Cali. He made more money owning his own shop than he did make working at Ferrari. Plus you’re probably topped out at your shop, as most shop don’t even go above $50.
