I hope you all enjoyed this video, I apologise for the bad quality but it's what I can provide you for now, I hope to upgrade in the future. This is my ferrets enclosure, which was built about 4-5 years ago, the shed was a custom order and the outdoor enclsoure I built myself. They have a double ferret nation cage which is their main sleeping area, they like sleeping in there the most during winter and are put in there at night for safety. I only recently upgraded the flooring in winter to cardbaord horse bedding, it helps with insulation to keep the shed nice and cozy but also provides them with enrichment to burrow and dig in. The tubing with sisal rope wrapped around it, I also handmade along with the wooden bowl holder. Each time the enclsoure is cleaned, their toys/boxes/tubes/cat tree gets moved around or switched out, this provides them with 'new' places to explore and keeps them happy. On the shelf I store a few things such as toys, some DIY equipment, a bin/bags, a puzzle mat (good mental stimulation), treats, poop scoopers and poop bags ect. The tubing in the outdoor enclosure goes all around the enclsoure and is fixed on by heavy duty zip ties, i hand made the nesting box a few years ago and they seem to really enjoy sleeping in there and sunbathing. I have artificial grass down, they enjoy rubbing their faces on it and a handmade 'swing', along with a big ball pit and bark/wood chippings with logs/branches. They also have a sandpit to dig in and a resting chair to climb up/sleep on. [Side note: Shadow is a rescue, and is cross with an EU polecat making him a hybrid and alot more territorial than the standard ferret. I rescued him and his buddy but unfortunately in December I had to make the heartbreaking decision to his buddy of 9 years old to sleep as he was suffering from multiple seizures that came on very suddenly. He does not get along with Skye, which is a real shame but it is what it is, they each get switched out every few days so they both have a chance to explore while the other one stays free roaming in my room. I am on the list of a private breeder in which, fingers crossed, I'll be able to get Skye a buddy. I may also contact a few rescues to see if Shadow is able to get on with another ferret, but for now they're both quite happy as they are.] If you enjoyed this video, please comment if you would like more in the future 😊

@@ferrets._.loverASMR I am not sure I have ever had that much fun in my life. The baker's dozen came when the maintenance people in my former apartment complex came to me for help. First they wanted to know if I wanted another one ... LOL. I said, "uh ... no ... but thank you for coming to me" (they knew I had a lot of them). Then they stated, "would you help us "catch" one?" I said, sure ... so when I got across the complex, there was this lil gurl ferret meandering among the bushes. I just picked her up and cuddled her. VERY tame. Nuzzled me back. I took her back to my apartment. Let the others out and she was so young, a couple of the others "teethed" her up by the scruff of her neck and carted her off to the cage. (6 stories high) ... LOL. I wrote a note and taped it to the community mail box. NO ONE claimed her. So, I named her "Nibbles" (as I was hoping to find out who she belonged to but to no avail. I kept her until her passing ... that was back in 2006. Thank you for allowing me to share her story. I miss them a lot and have thought I should get my female chihuahua a playmate in another ferret. If I do, I shall return and share what happens. Stay safe :)

Omg!! I love ferrets but my husband says they stink so he won't let me have them in the house. This inspired me to think of an outside heated setup!!
@ferrets._.loverASMR3 жыл бұрын
They do have a smell, but so do every animal so it honestly depends mainly on their diet and how clean their cage/area is kept. Since mine are on raw, and I keep their shed squeaky clean they hardly have a smell tbh! Also depending on where you’re located, they do really well in a colder environment due to their thick skin and they’ll grow in a nice fluffy winter coat also, it’s summers you have to watch out for as they can overheat very easily. I’m glad my setup inspired you! Hopefully he’ll let you have some one day, or you could even try and convince him to foster a few in the mean time and I can guarantee he’ll want some! :D
@mlwsmp3 жыл бұрын
I disagree that they stink. I happen to absolutely love the smell of ferrets. My dogs stink. My ferrets do not! My chickens are FAR stinkier than my Ferts.
@DarkMoon2672 жыл бұрын
How do you provide extra warmth on particularly cold winter nights/days? As well as cool in the summer heat??? I want ferrets again but my partner absolutely cannot stand them (mostly for the odor) but he says I can have an area outside for them but I’m having a hard time being okay with that because I don’t want the weather to effect the fuzzies if I can’t have them indoors 😢

What do you use for heat in the winter?
@ferrets._.loverASMR3 жыл бұрын
Lots of thick blankets, it does snow here but it doesn't get too cold. They're really Hardy for winter as they grow a thick winter coat and their body temp is naturally higher than ours so it's the heat they struggle with 🙂

How much money did it cost you to build it (if you don't mind me asking) because im thinking my building one
@ferrets._.loverASMR Жыл бұрын
The shed was about £600 ish, though the wood it was built with is super thin and I’ve had issues with it leaking when it rains heavily, the decking boards across the bottom were scrap wood so free, and the wire I believe was about £60. The structure itself for the enclosure was already up, I used to have rabbits and Guinea pigs and would have their hutches for nighttime I had under there to protect from the rain, it used to have a fence going around it, then we also had a fence in the middle of the garden that allowed the bunnies to free roam the top half of the garden. I did replace the roof which was about £40 ish, though a few panels could do with replacing because they’ve cracked when it’s windy. If you have Facebook, have a good look around on the marketplace, you’ll find a bunch of great deals for pipes, cat toys, scrap wood, sheds etc :)
