Ferreting-What equipment you need to start.

A clip of some of the ferreting equipment that I use when I go ferreting. It may be a useful clip to those who are thinking about starting the sport.

Hi Yasiin No licence required, they are an agricultural pest. The farmers dont want them, that is why I catch them. Wild rabbits may die from stress if suddenly caged. Keeping rabbits as pets is cruel anyway unless they have a very large run with grass. I hunt in the north of England. Just in case you are wondering........they taste very nice and are low in colestrol. Thank you for watching.

Where I'm from we also use these rough stone walls in the farm land area both for protection from the elements and to form the boundaries of ones property, to be honest I think the rough stone walls have allot more personality than a highly worked one.

Hi Netrigger, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I have hardly been out this year yet, just one or two small sets, and not many bunnies. I think they are still out on the tops around us due to the cover, and the dreaded myxy is only a few miles away at the moment, so fingers crossed.

Yes it is a solid wall, but not the best around. Different parts of the country have different styles. Parts of Yorkshire and Cumbria have very neat flat faced walls, where as where I am in the dark peak, they are often not as tidy, although they are equally as functional, as protection from the weather for the sheep. Hi i love watching all the videos, but i am very confused so i have question could you please take time to answer them. Do you need license to harm or kill the rabbits? Do you sell the rabbits to farmers for rabbit meat? Is it true that some people sell wild rabbits to pet shops? and where in the UK do you hunt because i live in london (not in the country side) and it is impossible to even see a rabbit . thank you very much for your videos they have really educated me. thankssssss

No they are wild animals that are used to living in all the weather conditions the Britain can throw at them. Their coats thicken in winter and thin out in summer

Hi fella just wondering how do u train ur ferrets 2 hunt rabbits in burrows im a hunter myself air rifles snares cage traps but I wanna expand and buy 2 or 3 ferrets 2 use them 2 work warrens 4 rabbits and aswell as how do u train them 2 do it is it ok 2 buy ferrets from a pet shop as here in Bedfordshire I cant find no breeders just 1 or 2 pet shops so I can I train them from a pet shop and how old shud they b untill u work them and is it ok if they draw blood from a rabbit with mixxy and if they catch there fleas ? And I no people feed them kibble and meat but wot is best or can I do both and do I leave the fur or feathers on any wild game I giv 2 the ferrets 2 eat and wot about can they eat a rabbit or squirrel or pigeon or wot eva with mixxy or liver fluke ect ect ?

All ferrets will hunt, but if they don't come from working stock it may take them longer to get started. You would be better trying to locate someone who breeds and works them. If you gets kits in the summer, they will be ready to start next season in shallow small warrens. As far as food goes, rabbit is best, and specialist ferret food isn't bad. Whatever you give them needs to be high in protein, and food such as cat or dog food isn't high enough. Don't feed them milk, just food and water like in the wild. Personally I will not feed ferrets food that has come from a diseased animal, but that is my choice. Hope this helps.

Mixy got all rabbits again this year, so no ferreting, but may put out shooting ones in a month or two. Busy mole catching and stuff at minute. Bare with me.
