As a teen of the early John Hughes film era, I have fond memories of this film and the period. One of the music cues, an instrumental cover of the legendary Smiths song, Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want, plays when the trio are at the museum. It’s a beautifully haunting song and I never forgot how that scene made me feel.

I’ve been watching my 4K movies through my XBox for the past few years… Yesterday I picked up this 4K Ferris Bueler AND a Panasonic UB820 4K player. Finally!! Watched it last night and it looks fantastic!

Nice! Great movie and awesome 4K player 😎 👍 Panasonic UB820 is pretty much one of the best if not the best 4K players. I myself have the Panasonic UB420 which I love. It doesn’t have Dolby Vision, but that’s the only difference between it and the UB820. Happy viewing!

OMG your review is bang on with my feelings after watching it! Thank the heavens that "maybe" Paramount catalogue releases have turned the corner with new people working on the restorations??? Not really a spoiler but a warning anyway, if you’ve seen the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, they actually are watching this movie. I thought that was funny cuz it just came out in 4K. But yea the movie looked great and it still makes me laugh, definitely a classic. Looking forward to Weird Science later this month from Arrow. Hopefully The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles are getting 4Ks, hopefully next year. I know Kino is doing Uncle Buck.

According to a guy who was involved in the authoring process at a Sony facility, they use DNR on every 4k to some degree. Most of the time it's so sublet it isn't noticeable

Back in March, CBS News aired a story on the importance of film preservation. That segment included a brief behind-the-scenes clip of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off getting its new restoration, which immediately drew the “I hope they don’t mess this up like Planes, Trains and Automobiles” skepticism. Glad to see that wasn’t the case!

all the extras are the same as blu-ray EXCEPT the director's commentary which hasn't been available since the DVD

They were apparently doing a Criterion. Guess not. And Hughes himself must have pulled thay one and only commetary he did back in the day.

Love the film in 4K. Mine arrived today. But I don't think the picture of Ferris on the Artwork looks like Matthew Broderick. It kinda resembles him, but to my eyes something It's off.

That's actually the reason I don't buy steelbooks anymore. Once it's damaged you're screwed. If a normal case gets damaged, I can just swap it out with a new one. I avoid steelbooks like the plague now.

I REALLY hate when Paramount does this, they released this steelbook with only Blu Ray a little while ago, and now they release the EXACT same steelbook with 4K >:( (Same thing with Wayne's World)

As for the film itself, I am in my early 30's so I came around after this film and thus didn't grow up with it. I personally didn't think that it aged quite as well, I mean Ferris is a complete jerk to many people (including his friends) and does bad things, and gets away with it! That being said it does definitely have a fun factor and I still found it enjoyable to watch even with these (IMO) issues
