It is a relatively small Ferris wheel, so if you think about it, it isn't horribly fast

weeee, it totally makes sense. Tks a lot. At school, I nearly just remember where to put a,b,c,d in h = a sin(b(x-c)) +d. now I understand thoughtfully

meh, i used sine instead... h=8sin(18t-90)+9 when t=seconds

isnt h=8? cause thats the centre and the radius is 8 cm.
@apestogetherstrong341
@apestogetherstrong341 Жыл бұрын
Isn't the simpler solution h(t) = (1 + sin (18 t)) * 8 + 1 ? From the unit circle we know that sin of a degree is the y coordinate. Sine goes from -1 to 1, so 1 + sin is gonna give a variation from 0 to 2. Then, if we multiply the sine result by 8, we move from the unit circle to the 8m radius circle, and we get the height in terms of this circle, where the lowest point is 0 and the highest is 16m. Then we add 1 since the wheel is 1 meter above the ground, and we get the height of the users as a function of time. on the ferris wheel (knowing the starting point 0 to be at 9 meters above the ground, or at 0 degrees relative to the ferris wheel center)

you made all of that based on a construction of a degree at which 9-h but if you raise the construction you will find that h-9 is the number which appears

Wait...What happens to the (9-h) side when h >= 9? Does the solution still work or do we need to modify it?

in that case cos (18t) will be negative, so the negative cancels out.
