FERRY FIASCO: Glen Rosa finally launched

The last of the over-budget and massively delayed ferries being built at Ferguson Marine shipyard has FINALLY been launched.
The Glen Rosa - one of two ships being built at the yard in Port Glasgow - was cheered into the water by a large crowd at the shipyard.

These hundreds of workers wouldn't be employed in Glasgow if Ferguson marine a private company closed in 2019. After all the Scottish parliaments political parties said to the Scottish government that they had to save the last ship builders on the lower Clyde the Scottish government nationalised Ferguson marine in 2019.

It’s only been moved into the water. Could be another year fitting it out, and probably another few million pounds to the cost. Notice the big crane at the side, just incase it didn’t float !

Is it going to be sea worthy? A lot of clueless people had input into the design of the ferry. They were directly responsible for delays and massive increases to the costs. With that much stupidity it wouldn't surprise me if there is a fatal flaw just waiting to be a disaster. The other thing is none of work needed to make island harbours fit to accommodate the enormous new ferry has been carried out. Even if the thing is found to be sea worthy, is there a single island route it would be capable of serving?

Yes but Harry would be available to play tomorrow. Glen Sannox was launched by Wee Nicky in 2017 and is not expected to go into service until later this year. That's 7 years on. JFK announced the US were going to the moon on 25th May 1961. They achieved it in July 1969, 8 years later. If only the SNP had such an easy challenge as going to the moon as opposed to ordering, approving and overseeing the building as something as complex as a car ferry.
