Time to Talk Ferty! Lets learn about calculating percentages in a liquid. The math is the same on dry vs liquid because all percentages are based on weight. the simple equation is Weight times Percent equals pounds. W x % = LB. Establish the container size and weight on the label, find analysis and fire away.

Nice content once again. Was going to start using 18-0-1 this season for my hop plants and they usually take about 3lbs of N per 1000. My question is should I apply this at a lower rate and apply to the crown of the plant as a tea mix instead or still foliar apps as you would to turf? Thanks for any replies
@Lawncology

do you have, or do you know of, a video that goes into an explanation of why the N per 1m rates are so much lower with liquids than granular? I do understand that there are inefficiencies with granular because of the process by which the plant takes up the nutrients whereas through a foliar feeding the plant takes it in more directly. I'd like to know if there are any comparisons, studies that looked at rates? i.e. if you're putting .5lbs N/1m granular, using .1lbs N/1m resulted in the same N levels in the tissue of the blade (just making these numbers up as an example). A local supplier who sells a liquid 18-3-6 SRN product has a recommended all liquid plan for an entire season. The plan calls for other things (micros) in addition to the fert, but when I do the math the amount of N that is being put down for the entire season (over 8 separate feedings) is .72lbs N/1m. That seems so low to me when most advocate something like 4lbs N/1m over the season. I'm confused.

Great video as usual! I have your bio stim starter pack and was wondering what your recommendation would be for using MicroGreene on a new (6mos old) Hong Kong Orchid tree that looks very unheathy (leaves are discolored and not blooming well) I’m located in tamp FLORIDA and have tried to fertilize the tree with a shake and feed but was wondering if the MicroGreene would be a better solution but was unsure about what amount of product to use or if it would be worth it? Thanks for any advice
@Lawncology
@Lawncology 5 жыл бұрын
Steve Story apply the microgreene at the base of the tree at one ounce per caliper inch of trunk. Mix into about a gallon of water and just soak the base. Wait about two weeks and then apply again.

Lawncology awesome thanks so just measure the thickness of trunk and then 1 oz per inch. Can I use a hose end sprayer or should I mix everything in a bucket and pour at the base? Just asking because the ortho hose end sprayer holds nowhere near a gallon of water. Thanks again

Hey John, great video! About your short off topic discussion on liquid potassium, and correcting soil potassium levels :) In your opinion, would putting down 4lbs of a 0-0-50(granular) be a safe application rate for Sulfate of Potash? I was thinking about doing that once this year, maybe twice...
@Lawncology
@Lawncology 5 жыл бұрын
Jacob Mossner that would be a lot at once. I would go at 2lbs multiple times just because it can dry out and stress the grass if you load it.

Hey john. Off topic, but I just ordered the humic 12 and rgs combo from the lcn website. I have really low cec and less than 1% organic matter. If I make monthly applications of these products, how much and what timeline should I see improvement in these numbers?
@Lawncology

Jameson Murphrey you will be him to see better turf response almost immediately. The humic12 will increase the CEC. The root mass increases will change your OM. You will visibly see a change in your soil this season

John, I’m in south Florida with st. Aug. I am committing this year to a total liquid Next program. I am supplementing my green punch with micro green and green effect , along with your other products. How should I apply the green punch. What months should I apply during the year. Thanks Chris
@Lawncology
@Lawncology 5 жыл бұрын
chris Luckey hey Chris, run 1801 January through May monthly 15 ounces. Take a break then do July. Skip August. Hit September October November and break for December. This will give you 2.25lbs of N for the year which is half of the Florida recommended rate. Congrats, you are making a difference for Florida’s water.

John Perry, I've heard you say before to send your soil sample results to you. I haven't done a soil sample yet but I need to soon. Is this something you will actually do is look at these? If so, where do we email these? Btw, will "painting her black" skew results like fertilizer will? Also, thank you for sharing information with us!

Now take 2000 gallons of 20-0-0 and mix it with 200 gallons of 12-0-0-26 and 200 gallons of 6-0-0-0-16.5 and tell me how many gallons per acre you need to put down to get 70 units!! Thats the stuff that I'm confused on! It's easy to figure ONE product. It's when you mix three of them that have different percentages and different amounts!

It’s all the same. Percentage times weight. Each product has a unit measurement.
