I never really thought I would like the idea of taking the 3/2 slower that the 3/4 at the beginning, but holy crap they made me like it!

I really love the use of (what sounds like) antiphonal brass here.

This is the favored song among recent alumni at my high school. I'm now seeing why.

Love this piece. Played it a few years ago as a freshman in high school. The euphonium part was HARD! It was fun though.

Seth Butler No. _Kidding._ The music association that I'm involved in holds annual auditions/placement appointments. They're mandatory, and hardly anyone has ever been demoted from a group they were in the previous year. Upon my audition, almost four years ago, my band director had me play the most difficult portion of the euphonium part (@ 3:46 ). That was just... that was just _mean,_ Lol. "You got two minutes to look through this and then play it. Got it? Okay, Go!" Imagine my panic that they might actually demote me, I did so poorly. XD

Imagine playing THIS in a marching band competition... My high school band did just that!! I was a freshman and played the baritone and we sounded better than this, on the field while marching at ridiculous speeds. We were louder and spread out across the entire field.... This was one of the only songs that ever gave me trouble, but it was because I was also learning how to march that year! True, I've played MUCH tougher compositions, but that was in concert... I remember MAAANY MANY MANY late night band rehearsals, only to turn around and come right back in the morning to go to school. It was crazy, but I loved every minute of it!

dont bs yourself, there is no possible way you sounded better than one of the greatest wind ensembles , if not the greatest, especially while doing a watered down field version. Curious, what high school do you go to?

That intro is wayyyyyy to slow, prefer the Eastman version over Tokyo
@FilipusWisnumurti8 жыл бұрын
+Jared Delgado I prefer slower intro, it makes the music more majestic.

Try the version by the University of Michigan Symphony Band.

Jared Delgado i agree, beginning is too slow, but i think the rest of the song is a little clearer
