@Steve's Festool Shed Talk: Hiya, there's a stipulation on the Festool docs that this only does internal corner radii of 50mm, not 20mm as is industry standard... have you found this to be true, or is there a way to get around it?

Hi Steve, would you recommend to buy just the centuro edgebander and then the mft kit etc. Or just jump into the deep end and buy the entire set.

well Harry it depends on what your edging, for basic kitchen cupboard doors etc the bench unit is paramount for ease and accuracy , but if the items are large hand held is all you need. For me I use the bench unit 95 % of the items i have needed it for. Hand held it’s a big unit, that’s why I bought the table accessory table which I added those adjustable kitchen legs to sit on my existing benches

Do you use the Festool system for trimming the edgeband too?

I got question. How you protect your material from scratch of festool. I work with acrylic and other laminated materials. Scratches is big problem. For now I use some paper tape. 🤔

Hey Steve_ I'm curious about how long you need to let the glue "cure" before trimming, scraping and buffing the edges? Your perspective is appreciated. Thanks! 😃

John Beckman Mate hi you can work on it in less than a 1 min as soon as the hot glue hit the air it hardens almost immediate. I usually do a batch of edges and stack them then go and trim but if you are doing a one off you just keep working, remember there is no messy glue pots, its awesome for the small shop.

@@sicdsteve1 _Thanks Steve. My thoughts were when breaking down a full sheet for cabinets. I was wondering if the banding could be applied after you got the sheet down to 2- 610mm x 8ft sections. If you banded the long ends, trimmed & scrapped them and then moved to cross cut the 6- 610mm x 900mm panels. What are your thoughts. Could you do the trim & crosscut right away? Do you think that the efficiency gain of banding the long panels and then cutting them down is worth it or valid? Thanks!

John Beckman To do that you would do it hand held, thats all it would be feasible and yes more than likely a bit quicker

@@sicdsteve1 _ Thanks Steve! I was envisioning a long bench for the long cuts. Move down to a Banding Bench. Then slide the 610mm x 8ft (banded on one side) panels back to the long bench to perform the crosscuts. The six side panels cut from the 4x8 sheet would all be banded at that point and could be set aside till that other pieces were cut and finished and assembly could start. I'm wondering if this saves any handling on a full set of cabinets. What do you think?

John Beckman Well after making a kitchen for my daughter I preferred to cut up my board then tape up as they are easier to handle in the smaller sizes, I wouldn’t tape on the machine in a bench something 8’ long as you need to maintain a constant feed and pressure against the roller you can’t stop as the glue keeps feeding, to do your method you need to do it holding the machine in your hand then be no problem as your feeding the tape to panel. For me I prefer to cut up first, but thats my method.
