The festool hose seems very well designed and ideal for tools with the small hose connections of hand tools, even when adapters are needed. Where I would be concerned is with tools like a table saw... that require the larger hose (2 inch?) like the one in the ridgid. Adapting "up" in size should have negative suction implications.

Absolutely! I ended up getting the larger Festool hose which I use with great success on my SawStop Compact table saw. The smaller hose from this video has been amazingly compatible with the vast majority of tools smaller than a table saw.

I just got a CT SYS and the proprietary tool end is driving me insane. I'm trying to find an inexpensive way to connect it to a 2 1/2 OD, 2 1/4 ID dust port urghhhhh

I THINK that the Festool part # 452892 might work? it's 58mm OD which is very close to 2 1/4", and i assume it's the same size as the inlet side of the Festool Dust Extractor hose from the video, which is shown fitting into a Ridgid Shop Vac, which I believe used the 2 1/2" OD, 2 1/4" ID sizing. What a pain! Alternatively, there seem to be several sellers on Etsy that make adapters, but if the Festool one works, i would prefer that, as it's antistatic.

Great video. I primarily use my 2 1/2 inch dust collection hose for everything. I have finagled adapters for all the tools so they connect to it. Dust collection compatibility is such a problem, nothing seems to be standard at all. I have the universal adapter for my sander and I use a flex hose I picked up from Rockler. The other end of the hose slips into my 2 1/2 in dust collection hose. It works well, could be better. But it works. I'm going to tackle better dust collection in the next few months, see if I can improve it.

Hahaha, so many adapters and whenever I get a new tool none of my adapters seem to work so I have to buy yet another! I still need to take your tip from a previous video and get a good filter bag for my bigger dust collector and after watching your air cleaner video from yesterday I’m definitely going to do that quick project sooner than later.

I'm very impressed with how versatile this Festool hose is overall. Not just with the connector, but the quality and ease of use with the hose itself.

Cool video! You can make custom adapters with some PVC and a heat gun.

That’s a great idea! I found some cool 3D printed adapters but shipping to Canada was less than idea. I always forgot the power of a heat gun on plastic.

Just the video I was looking for. I’m looking to get the festool extractor you have and have been trying to work out which tools it will or won’t fit. Can you let me know how you got it to fit the dewalt sander as I have the same sander and can’t find if the DEV9000 will make it fit?? Also, what are the inner and outer mm dimensions of the festool rubber end? Great video and thanks.

Happy to hear the video helped! I wanted to highlight the vast compatibility as I heard the 27mm hose was highly-compatible with other tools but never really saw it on video. I ordered the DeWalt DWV9000 earlier today in hopes that it's exactly what I need for that sander - I'll try to remember to respond to your message once I get it! As for the diameter of the hose, it's very malleable, so it's hard to get an exact measurement on mine. Using my calipers, the inner diameter is ~0.90"/23mm and outer is ~1.34"/34mm (and tapers out as it gets closer to hose). It's really a different type of hose end that I've never encountered before (but is awesome!)

@@MasonWoodshop that’s great thanks!! Reviews on Amazon say the dev9000 will fit on a 32mm OD Henry hose, so hopefully the 2mm will just give a nice interference fit. The only other thing I couldn’t find any info on was the 2 Festool MIDI 240v models difference. The 574835 (L class - cheaper) doesn’t have an “extraction sleeve with bypass”, but the 574826 (M class - £100 more expansive) does. Wondered if you knew what this is? (Flow sensor in hose? Something to do with M class low flow alarm beeping? ) Annoying trying to try and get any info when none of even the official websites give a clue. I’m looking to get the L class cheaper version. Keep up the great work and thanks for posting/replying.
@MasonWoodshop

The L vs M totally confused me at first, then I watched some official videos and it made sense until I then realized that all version in North America are just “CT” instead of CTL or CTM - even more confusion! My assumption has just been that the regular “CT” here in North America is the same as the L version (CTL). Even more confusing is that the box it came with says “CT - CTL - CTM”, haha!

@@MasonWoodshop haha that must be annoying. If they weren’t so expensive I feel like I’d just buy it and address any issues with fitting it to tools later. How do you find the dewalt cordless tracksaw? Have you changed the blade to 40 or 48Teeth for cleaner cuts. Tape the hole in the cover for better dust extraction as it’s only really needed for blade changes. I use mine on Festool tracks as the Dewalt tracks almost seem like an afterthought for rail square accessories and doesn’t slide around as much. The auto correct keeps changing the spelling on certain words so this might read like I’m 5 years old haha. I’m nearly 7 (with about 30 years experience).

@@denishill2871 Sorry for my late response, the good news is that I just posted a video showing the compatibility of my sander with the Festool 27mm hose using the DWV9000: kzbin.info/www/bejne/n2LHeGh4ZciVlc0 With regards to the tracksaw, I haven't changed the blade as I'm generally quite happy with the quality of the cut. Right now I only have the 59" track, but I'm planning to buy the longer Festool track for the compatibility reason you mentioned.

The business end is definitely bigger than 27 mm. 27 mm is ID of this hose. Connector is probably 35 mm if it is compatible with Bosch. Do you have any festool vacuum accessories (like brush etc.) I am wondering the ID of hose accessories, should me 35mm, but I can not find this info anywhere and want to confirm before buy online.

Hi Alexey, I spoke with Festool Australia today and they advised that the OD (outside diameter) of this hose (27/32 tapered anti static) was 36mm. The ID is 27mm. I also spoke to the store where I am planning to buy a Midi (when lockdown in Australia ends). The said, after a quick measurement, with a ruler held against it, that it was about 34 to 35mm. I would like to find the exact measurement myself as it is helpful to figure out which tools it fits. Mason's video was a big help. Maybe he can post the exact OD measurements of the hose fitting if he gets a chance.
@Mithadon
@Mithadon 2 жыл бұрын
@@willspencer3044 I just measured with my caliper and the OD is indeed 36mm, but the ID of the rubber connector is 25mm. It's hard to measure because it's not a rigid perfect circle, but it's nowhere near 27mm. However it will stretch to accommodate a 27mm OD connector. It's a tight fit.
