Hi it’s been a struggle for me to find the right power and speed to engrave clear acrylic with S1 20 Watts. I would really appreciate if you wouldn’t mind sharing the settings please and thank you.
@MasonWoodshop5 күн бұрын
While I’m not a complete expert, it’s unlikely that you’ll be able to engrave clear acrylic with a diode laser. There may be ways to apply something to the surface to get some sort of etch (like you can with glass and tempera paint), but I’ve never been successful with clear acrylic.

With the s1 and etching glass, do you have to coat the glass with paint or a vinyl backing for the laser to etch the pattern? You can't just put any colour of glass sheet in and have the design etched without some additional preparation?
@MasonWoodshop6 күн бұрын
Correct! The method I’ve used with the S1 is to paint the surface to be etched with black tempera paint. It’s generally worked quite well for me the few times I’ve used that method.

I am enjoying my LS1019L. Great review on the saw. Why was I watching your video since I already own one? A lot of times when you are looking for how to do something? These reviews can be used as "spot reminders" of some forgotten features. I have totally forgot about how to store the fence doing a Bevel Cut. It turned out that there is small clamp on the side rails to clip them in place (User Manual). And yes I do agree that MAKITA could have design the fences to slide. My previous workhorse DELTA Miter Saw's fences also slid. I am not sure what the people at MAKITA were thinking. I do agree with you Mason. It's a great saw. I have installed mine on the BOSCH (T4B PORTABLE) FOLDING GRAVITY-RISE MITER SAW STAND WITH WHEELS...I don't do job site. But, the mobile table is great for moving this saw In, Out and around the garage because this thing is a heavy beast. I have no business lifting this thing anyway (with a bad back) at best. Check it out!!! The MAKITA's version does not appear as nimble to me and that was why I did not purchase the Makita version. I have both BOSCH Mobile table for the table saw and the miter saw. For flexibility and they can be collapsed and be put away... Just A Thought.😎 Cheers!😎

Thanks for watching!! The P2/P2S won’t be able to engrave metals due to the nature of the laser, however, it can indeed mark them when using a metal marking spray. What if your mft holes are not perfectly aligned and lets say your first hole is 2-4mm off from the last hole? Are there options to adjust this fence system to make up for that so you end up with perfect 90 degree cuts?
@MasonWoodshop27 күн бұрын
Great question! As long as the holes are perfectly in line (regardless of spacing) you’ll be okay as the fence dogs can be positioned anywhere in the slot on the back of the fence. If the holes are not perfectly in line, then you’d run into issues unless you just use two fence dogs.

Thanks for the review. Just curious how you would connect the inline fan with the smoke purifier? P2 -> Inline Fan -> Smoke Purifier? I see that you don’t have them connected together. Is it an either/or situation where you either have the inline fan or the smoke purifier?
@MasonWoodshop28 күн бұрын
Great question!! For me, I’m going with the either/or route. If I were to chain them together, it would be P2 to purifier to inline fan. While I’m not 100% certain, I’d imagine that putting the inline fan between the P2 and purifier could result in some weird pressure being generated.

Instead of MFT Workbench (18 Months Later), you show EVERY SINGLE tool you have, every single? Not EXACTLY... You forgot the saucepans, plates, griddles, shoes, and toilet papers (Let me guess, from Festool?). ... ... Hell... That's becoming more and more REDICULOUS!!!

Just an observation here, but if you clear coat the natural slate coasters before you engrave them, I agree it makes them look better, but you also rendered it useless for a coaster. I have the 12" corded Mkita saw. If you are framing houses, it's great. If you are making doors where insanely square is important, it is garbage. it can be set square, but it will not stay square. The aluminum detent plate is also garbage--the detent notches wallow out quickly. Replacing the detent plate with a stainless steel plate helps a bit, bit it does not change anything about its inability to remain square. Laser is okay. Soft start is great. Reasonably quite. Dust collection could be worse. Squareness is junk. Strongly do not recommend for precision work.
