Thanks for another educational video. My only concerns with the new CXS 12 and CXS 18 is they seem to be much louder than the previous CXS. What's quoted in the specs does not seem to reflect some people's experience. There's threads about this on the FestoolOwnersGroup and one gentleman, from the Netherlands, specialises in measuring sound professionally, found that they may be over the EU threshold therefore requiring ear protection. The sound issue may be even worse while doing cabinetry given there's nowhere for the sound to go. I'd love to get a CXS 12 but until the sound is resolved, I'll probably be sticking to my Fein 12v.

That’s precisely why I send my CXS back. Ordered it test it and It is so loud and makes the exact same noice as the makita drills from my mates. Same engine maybe. If I work with the c18 I don’t have to wear ear protection at all. And the weight difference is so small with the battery on it. So I stick with the c18 for now.

@@gertjansoepenberg7778Thanks for also verifying the issue. I'd be tempted to get the old CXS.

You guys must have known I was really close to deciding to transition fully into the Festool ecosystem and couldn’t decipher the line enough to get far… this was exactly what I needed! It’s uncanny how often you’ve already made a video for what I was trying to find an answer for!

Hi Brian. My new CXS 18 has a high-pitch whine, which I gather is common to this drill. But why? I have two other Festool drills, a C12 and a PDC 18/4, and they are relatively quiet in use. Is this noise normal? Just put up with it? It does take the shine off a good product. Regards from Perth, Derek

#festool @festool what is the brand of the bit that sedge is using?
@debandmike3380 Жыл бұрын
just finished a major office renovation using the drywall gun. It is the only useful driver that festool makes. All of the other ones are stupidly designed awkward and under powered. What the hell is with the CSX 18 that it's just ridiculous. The CSX 12 is a little screeching machine, the quad drive is severely under powered, 450 pounds of torque for $600 compared to the Makita 1250 pounds of torque for $150. an impact driver that is at the bottom of the list compared to any other brand. Festool has failed big time in the drill driver department.

Oh look… another person who believes the myth of high torque being anything of importance on its own… and the resultant marketing gimmick of some tool manufactures using their peak (instantaneous, and not really relevant) torque number to make you think it’s better. Or do you really think that the M18 drill is massively more powerful than an F350 7.3 liter v8 because they have a maximum torque of 485 lb ft? Torque is a ratio measurement and the actual lb ft output of those drills are all far lower than their listed specs. Oh, and if they do things that are so stupid and wrong why does everyone copy them? Track Saws, Brushless Motors, Install drivers (that CSX12 you’re hating on has literally been replicated by Red, Yellow and Blue), Changeable heads… the list goes on… And if we extend it to high-end German tools then we can add a lot more…
