Brian, this is one of my favorite episodes. Aside from the domino 500 this is Festool’s other genius product. The applications are nearly endless. Would love to see what more you could do with it. Pocono Joe.

I noticed that you used a 6 mm bit during the demo, but the Mfk 700 doesn’t offer a 6mm collet. Does the 1/4” compress enough to allow the use of a 6mm bit? Or did you use a adapter bushing? Or am I just missing something?
@AaronGeller Жыл бұрын
you can have a 1/4" bit with a 1/2" collet. Bits can be larger or smaller than the collet

Love your videos as always. I own the MFK 700 set. If I want to add the EBQ portion, and I hope I’m making sense, can you tell me what part number or what part numbers I would buy?

The base that is supplied with the EQ/B? That is already in the set, I think? Note that there are 5 bases for the MFK; the 0 degree horizontal, the 1.5 horizontal, the vertical (flat) and the vertical with the extra layer pertinax to allow for vertical cutting of edge banding. Then there is also a vertical base with the threads for the copy rings, but despite it being pictured on european Festool sites, it's USA only. Festool did their best effort to not clarify any of this in the catalog.. As far as I see the difference between the two vertical bases, besides the bearing brake is just Festool # 10010205; a thick layer of Pertinax.

Sedge: This might have been one of your best. I’m glad you got the feed fixed. Again I need to go buy some more stuff but that’s ok. I just got your T18, PDC set. Those are so great. Who knew the drill you have in your hand everyday could be that perfect. Wow!

So, I just bought the MFK 700 SET because most of what I do will be 1-2mm wood banding triming,. However, I assumed that the set would have the bearing brake and the angle assembly - but it doesn't. Are there parts I need to order to have that capability for my MFK 700 set? I looked on-line and in the parts catalog and I don't even see part numbers for those parts. Weird. Are they part of the base on the cheaper set? I couldn't tell. I would like to do some 2-3mm PVC banding, so those pieces would be necessary. NORMALLY, if you buy the more expensive set of anything in Festool world, you get all the bits and pieces. It doesn't seem so in this case. Good video, though - it helped! I was able to make short work of 1mm wood banding on my current project (4 Festool tool cabinets with SYS-AZ drawers). EDIT - nevermind - I just saw the part 10809749 for the brake and a couple of screws - about $25. I'll order them shortly.

Question...I do alot of 1/4" solid wood edge banding. What is the best MFK 700 base and router bit for the job? Thanks for all your episodes. I have learned alot from them.
@RJ_Taylor3 жыл бұрын
I’d go with the 1.5 degree base and the two flute bit (491666). You won’t see that angle on 1/4 inch stock but you’re still ready for .5mm or 1mm edging on laminate or whatever.

Isnt it true that you can do the same thinge with the 1010 that you can do with the 700
@jcvjcvjcvjcv Жыл бұрын
In theory, yes. But it's hard to prevent the 1010 from tilting on the corners. If it tilts, it ruins the radius. The 700 has more support and is lighter.

That covers edge banding applied at a 90 degree edge. But the conturo can edge at 45 degrees. Could you do a video showing how to trim the edging when it’s applied at an angle?

love the training by Sedge, just have a quistion about the MFK 700. I have the MFK 700 EQ/B - do I need a different vertical base to suit the parallel guide for groove cutting? As I can't seem to find anything in the manual and I don't want to remove the brake parts if not required.... Cheers

I can see this is the perfect tool for edge banding. Awesome video on the Horizontal Base, now if you can show us how to use the Verticle Base on a laminate tops which are popular for kitchen counter tops and workshop table tops, Please 🙏 And would also love to see a demo on round overs and chamfers. I own a bunch of Festools already, and I just need a couple more reasons to buy this one 😬

I have used handheld routers for years manufacturing solid service in laminate countertops... I'm a little bit OCD about using them! So much so while using one going with the clock has always been the standard it kind of bothers me why he works right to left! Actually I worked at a cabinet company in Texas where they had safety guys walking around the shop and if they so are you pulling your router backwards you would be open to a write-up

wow man! that is the messiest video i have ever seen.The camerawork is very confusing trying to follow the overly excited presenter. What is going on here? It seems like you both are high. Lol. Anyway, I appreciate the effort, but I dont need the effort to be mainly a marketing strategy for the entire rest of the festool catalogue. I would rather have the focus be on the explaination of the strengths of the tool.
