A very well detailed review. It’s the very first I’ve watched for this product.

Hi Peter, thanks for the video. I used an MFS 700 in combination with the 2200 router on a 40mm door. Worked perfectly, not hard to set-up. I used one clamp around the door to one of the brackets.

Hi John, Well done. I keep meaning to buy an MFS for myself. Cheers. Peter

"Will not work, trust me", love it, as you've obviously tried that option ! Great video, as usual, really appreciate your measured, common sense approach.

Hi Ian, Thank you but I had been given that advice by a friend and so I trusted him and he was right. Cheers. Peter

This is one of Festool‘s tools that I can’t find many videos about. What you’ve explained makes very good sense and you’ve done very clearly but I wonder if you would fancy doing a video on how to clamp this guide in various situations as it’s that I seem to be struggling with at times. Thanks Stu

Hi Stu, I had to return the MFS to Festool UK and I don't have any contacts in the company at the moment so I am unable to help with this. Sorry. Peter

This is a great template make. We can't buy one in the US unless we get someone from there to ship it to us. Do you have and Idea on what it cost in US dollars to get one sent here. I understand they even have rails longer than 700mm. Thanks

Hi Thomas, I am sorry but I do not know anyone who is allowed to ship Festool kit to the USA. Peter

Peter, have you ever used any of the smaller router/trimmers from Festool? I have the 1400 like the one in this video, but I find it a little bulky for round overs and even hinges and the like. I like the one handed operation of the smaller ones, but the Festool trimmers even look a touch bulky in this regard too. Any thoughts, as Festool expert?

Hi Rico, I am far from being a Festool expert but I am an addict ! I have each of the three main routers (OF2200, OF1400 and OF1010). The OF 1010 is a delight to use as it is so light and it can be used for trim work with an optional foot assembly. Here is the link to the OF1010 videos - Part 1: kzbin.info/www/bejne/b6PHZGdrptx8obc and Part 2: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bp2TaoRnrLSCaas I have used one of the trim routers when I did the Conturo video but I am not in a position to recommend it as I only used it for one operation and then it was returned to Festool. Have you posed your question on the Festool Owners' Group (FOG)? It might help to do that. Good luck. Peter

Thanks, I'll check out the OF1010 videos again, although I think it's possibly a little large for regular one-handed use, and I'll see if there are any threads on FOG regarding the trim routers too. With 3 routers and two router-videos, I reckon you're definitely the go-to for Festool advice!

I recently got an MFS kit. I got the 200 mm, 400 mm and 1000 mm extrusions. The first thing I noticed is that the scales on them is inaccurate. Not by a small amount either. It differs 1mm per 30 cm. I'm comparing against other Festool products with scales on them, as well as a starrett combination square. I think this is unacceptable for the price. And I can't understand why. It's just wierd, since the quality control seems to be very high regarding all the other aspects of this product.

Hi Magnus, You should return the product immediately within the Festool 30 day money back period. Peter

Hi PeterVery informative video, I have just purchased the MFS 700 and used your tutorial to start using itOne question please, your size between the edge of the guide and cutter of 11mm, how was this calculated ?
@NewBritWorkshop7 жыл бұрын
Hi Gary, I am away from base so hope I am guessing right - take the diameter of the cutter away from the diameter of the guide bush and divide by 2. I have no means of viewing the video or checking this detail so please make sure that it seems sensible. Peter

Yes of course, this makes sense, thanks Peter

As that chap in Hogans Heroes used to say: 'I know nothing' - other than what I have read on their website and only stumbled on a you tube video by chance. They have only just finalised the production model so I guess they have had no live reviews of that just yet and I think they are shipping the first pre ordered units in Sep to US customers. I agree it is expensive but is it out of kilter with an X-carve?
@NewBritWorkshop8 жыл бұрын
Hi Norman, I would like what I say to be read knowing that I have not handled this tool nor seen anything more than the one video that you recommended....It may be a bit fussy to have to lay out the paper track marks every time. I wonder about its accuracy given the probable need to make multiple passes to get some pieces done. I can walk away from the X-Carve and let it do its job. I think that the X-Carve might be cheaper. Peter

Holy hell... that's a lot of measurement and math for a user to be forced to apply, succeeding their purchase of an expensive set if Festool Extrusions....

After a couple of goes with the MFS you would be an expert - other people manage it and I worked it out as well ! Peter
@jonnycasual83698 жыл бұрын
by the time you have set this overpriced gadget up with your router/hoover etc you could have the hinges cut by hand, also you never showed how you would clamp the jig to a door, ie useless hinge jig!
@jeffeverde15 жыл бұрын
@Elliott Day While the MFS has many applications and can replace a shelf full of single-purpose jigs, this was not a good application of this particular tool. In fact, Festool makes a different jig specifically for edge routing
