After squaring the fence to the rail- Last step would be calibrating the protractor head so it reads 90 degrees to enable repeatable angle cuts.

Agree, I though I did. But it is so long since I made this video - I may have overlooked it. But yes you are correct. Andy

Never understood why there is play when the track is lowered down onto that tab that fits in the rail? They even make an after market plastic tab cover, why did Festool make it in need of a cover in the first place?
@TheWoodgrafter5 жыл бұрын
Now that is a good question, and the plastic tab removes the play. To be honest, it’s not a lot of slack and I guess it depends what you are making. This is a mobile table, to be used on job sites - so to challenge it with furniture build may be a tad unreasonable, but you are laying a lot of money for it. They should make the tab so it is a resistance fit. Cheers Andy

The Woodgrafter I agree Andy but as it wears thee would still be slack unless they supplied ( as I think they should) a nylon/ delrin insert like the Slapstop which does solve both these problems. WKR Mike

How do you square everything up to the holes?
@katabrontes4 жыл бұрын
Hi Andy, Why did you do it this way? I set mine up by setting both the back of the track and the fence against dogs in the MFT holes. This was quick and easy and has the advantage of registering both against the grid of holes. If you don't do this the holes are much less useful. WKR Mike

Hi Mike, This was demonstrating how you do it the Festool way, in the next video (I think) you see how I do it via the holes - and then in a future video you will see how au got rid of the Festool system completely and just use a fence and the rail. Cheers Andy

The Woodgrafter Hi Andy, Fair cop! I haven't watched the others as since I have an MFT and MFW1000 I didn't think they would be helpful. Just came across this one in an idle moment today. I am going to get a Benchdogs fence and an extra short length of track ( maybe about 200mm) to use on the cutoff side of the track to replace the Festool fence. Don't know what I will do with the protractor then. WKR Mike

My protector is sat in a box in the store room, haven’t used it since I move to the Benchdog system - I will probably sell it when I sell the MFT. Don’t forget to use THEWOODGRAFTER code if you buy some more Benchdog stuff - get some discount. Cheers Andy

Just re-read your message, check out the new version of the Benchdog fence (MK2) it comes with the 200mm fence you mention. I made a video about it a couple of weeks ago. May be of interest. Andy

Great vidoe. I have started to work my way through all your vids. What digital angle finder do you use?
@TheWoodgrafter4 жыл бұрын
Hi, thank you for the feedback. Nothing exciting on the angle finder - i use this one www.axminster.co.uk/gemred-digital-angle-measuring-rules-ax806535 It does the job, and is pretty sturdy and easy to use. Cheers Andy

Nice video but the way you show how to square up the miter gauge is incorrect. You need to actually loosen the two Allen screws so the entire assembly can move.
@TheWoodgrafter5 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, Thanks for the feedback, I didn’t need to do that on the setup as it was pretty close out of the box. But yes you are correct. Cheers Andy
