Let’s remind ourselves that Palmerston is well over 150 years old, yet is still running to this day. Fantastic effort to everyone past and present who has helped keep him running.

It is accepted that locomotives require boiler inspections every 10 years. and have lots of money spend on them to be put back in service, This video highlights the fact that we take carriages for granted. 15 to 20 years between repaints? 40 years life expected for wooden bodies without any maintenance. Look at the utilitarian lines of the Vale of Rydal carriages against the beautiful lines of the Ffestiniog. This video goes a long way to give carriages more publicity and the respect they deserve.

Every time we stopped I made sure to move them to the other side. Despite being relatively flimsy fridge magnets they held up remarkably well.

Very grand. Cool to see the electric trolley. As the world changes more mow equipment will need to head this way.

Another excellent instalment in the history of 'The World Famous'. Glenn's review from the carriage works was very interesting and fluently delivered. The Wickham troll (sic) is an ugly little thing but the technological innovation is marvellous.

These videos get better every time and seeing the people at work during the shoot is a definite upgrade. I'm getting the sense that Jarrah was a late 20th century design choice that hasn't worked out so well in the Welsh weather - is it more suited to a tropical environment? Good to see the PWay teams moving towards electric power on a sympathetic horses-for-courses basis - will Wickham 👀 eventually be able to regenerate into the battery bank on the downhill trips? \m/
@ryderdopp81452 ай бұрын
P-way isn’t getting there grubby hands on the S&T points lubrication trolly! They have far too many tools to take with them anyway. The Wickham is technically capable of regen, however the slope of the FfR isn’t actually enough to actually generate anything. It’s really only useful as a secondary braking mechanism.

What is the loco in the background at 26:01?

It is the tank of a standard gauge loco which is a contract job.
