#171 In this video I continue looking at methods of measuring impedance in the circuit simulator by focusing on 2 port devices. I explore the use of LTspice's dedicated function - the .net statement, by looking at how this can be implemented and the various results it provides. This will not just tell you the basic impedance, but also the various network parameters for 2 port circuits like H, S, Z and Y parameters.

Greetings, I'm a Electrical Engineer with 25 years of experience in analogue R&D. I must acknowledge your outstanding analysis techniques, LTspice has definitely become a powerful simulation tool for engineers and researchers.

Thank you for the kind words! However, I think LTspice was always a great tool, its just that learning about all of the features and possibilities takes time.

What is the best way to display the exported data (input impedance) on a smith chart? I can't find an application to display the data from file!

I'm liking your videos! Is it possible to reupload this at a higher resolution, though? at 360p, it's *really* hard to see the text sometimes. Thanks for sharing your skills!

All the videos I make are 1080p; you should have the option to select that from settings.

@@FesZElectronics OK, sounds like it's on youtube, then. My dropdown had literally *only* 360p as an option... not even the usual `auto`. Anyway, carry on with the good stuff!

Thank you for the video. Is there a way to make a component model with known s parameters?

Not that I know of, but I will look into this and let you know if I find anything.

Thank you for this explanation. There is one thing that is puzzling me. I can't extend the s21 extraction in an active circuit like a common emitter amplifier. It simply gives results that I don't understand. Are there pointers that can help me further?

Hi: Can I analyse a amplifier stage using .Net command? Regards.
@FesZElectronics
@FesZElectronics 7 ай бұрын
Of course! This command will work with any sort of circuit; just make sure the amplifier is correctly supplied (it will need not just a signal source but also DC supply); I think I did some video a while back with the typical connections of a transistor (common base/emitter/collector) where I used the .net statement to observe the operation.
