Hearing your thoughts on the DLC s interesting as while we both enjoyed the DLC I feel quite differently on your negatives. The small scale was a huge plus for me as I liked the return to the tighter and shorter scenarios we saw in the base campaign. I would also personally recommend playing the historical then the a-historical branch as I think its quite satisfying to just race through an area that you had to slog through defensive line by defensive line in the historical path. Agree that battleaxe was not great scenario though. Thanks for the coverage of the DLC, your tips and strategies are helpful as always :)

Oh, absolutely, the smaller scale of battles Desert Rats works well as a contrast to the previous expansions, and the criticism is more about my personal preference for scale, small battles have their place. :) Plus DR is the easiest DLC so far, and in combination with the smaller scenarios, it's probably a good first DLC to get. The historical branch is also easier, another reason to go for it first. I mentioned the branches in the video, because I did all of these in one session (except for El Alamein and Firebrand), and because it's the same area, at the same time, they were just a blur, and difficult to distinguish one from another.

I was expecting a little more alternate history, like somehow successfully defending Greece or Cyrenaica but I really, really enjoyed liberating Abyssinia. Maybe they could have added the British-Soviet invasion of Iran?

The Desert Rats found that maggot cheese on Corsica and all died. The end.

Oh, so they already teased another possible campaign in North Afrrica? Makes sense, would be a shame not to use these new terrain types a bit more. So it´s probably the german side this time with an alt-history conquest of Egypt and beyond? Sounds interesting. Personally, I´d really like one or two additional Soviet DLC. They could easily make a rather large campaign mirroring the original allies campaign where you push your troops all the way to Berlin or maybe even the Rhine in an alt-history branch that ends with a different Unthinkable. Though I can see how certain real life events might deter them from doing that right now... Another thing I thought 2x2 could do if they´re willing to extend the timeline a bit: the Korean war. I think it has the potential for four campaigns, two for each side, historic and a-historic and it should still feel good with the current gameplay. Granted, that would be the biggest DLC they ever made and would probably need a ton of research into a different conflict but I wouldn´t even be mad if it was a two-part DLC or cost double that of the ones we got so far. The amount of content we get for these prices already feels like stealing :D

There will actually be a quick overview video about 1943 this weekend, and I've already got 1944, so something's happening there as well :)
