A YL Strange how a thumbnail picture can improve the popularity of a video 😄
@ayl31664 жыл бұрын
@@FarmerP Although that is a very true point, my comment was about the vid contents and nothing to do with the thumbnail... Excuse the following rant and to be clear, I am referring to the wider issue and not to your channel - which I enjoy very much. I personally, hate click-bait inc. any title, description, thumbnail or means of "attention grabbing" to lure a viewer in. I find it incredibly degrading to the viewers intelligence and its a psychological game to get clicks but usually means the contents is subpar and much more effort is put to the bait but leaves the contents lacking. Oh, how I miss the days when creators cared more about quality over quantity!

Love it sitting here listening to you trying to explain years of experience for driving . Speed , weight , angle of the road , direction of travel , Gravitational push and pull . using the gear box listening to the rpm change feeling the movement of the vehicle through the seat of your pants and the feel through your hands . Top heavy bottom heavy center of gravity . Being smooth smooth smooth with your movements . Remind me of trying to teach my son how to operate what you call a tractor trailer Lori . But my gears are different there is a sequence you use usually 9-10-and 13 speeds . Manuel shift for me never drove a automatic on a big rig . How to translate all that experience in a few short words lol .

It is always nice to see that Abbi is wanting and willing to learn about how to do things on the farm. One of my aunties was married to a farmer. He had a farm holding very similar in size to yours in Sandwich, Kent. They had two children, a boy and a girl and as both grew up, neither of them was interested in farming. They would help out when extra hands were needed, just like your daughters do but that's as far as they went. Because neither of them were interested in farming, my aunties husband (Uncle Peter we called him), had no one to leave the farm to so he sold it :(
@FarmerP4 жыл бұрын
Dodge M My girls are all free to make their own way in the world with no expectations to take on the farm. If it’s sold when I’m dead and they live their lives well I will be just as happy.
@dodgem2594 жыл бұрын
@@FarmerP I totally agree. My Aunt and Uncle had exactly the same view about their children as you do. My Aunt married into farmer life. The farm had been handed down through the generations just like yours has. Later on in years my uncle pete said he always had a smidgen of regret and sadness that none of his children (my cousins) were interested in farming BUT he never pressured them or expected them to take over from him. I was still a young lad when the farm was sold. I have memories but not many and seeing your videos is a bit like me looking through the windows of my aunt and uncles farm life, the joy, laughter and happiness they had together, just like your family does :)

Another one here who never had lessons on pulling the straw trailer. 40 footer, front bogie, no trailer brakes and jut a case of a Ford 4000 and told to get on with it. Much prefer your way of doing it. What is the benefit of round bales over square ones. Wouldn't square ones be easier to transport and stack in the barn.
@FarmerP4 жыл бұрын
Steve Hunter Yes square stack and transport a lot easier Steve. But, the crop MUST be very dry to make big squares, and you can’t leave them out in the field and risk them getting wet.... Damp square bales set barns on fire, you also need square bale feeders that take up a lot more space than round bale feeders. Round bales can be made with a bit of green in if there is a threat of wet weather, they can also stay out in the rain (not stacked) to sweat out, round bales are effectively thatched so fairly rain proof for a few weeks. Stacking round bales in an open barn on their side leaves ventilation gaps allowing the crop to effectively finish drying in the barn.... ( with caution!). So, deciding which to make, square or round is a choice that has to be made by the individual farm every year. We have smaller yards which are better suited for the smaller round bale feeders. I hope that answers your questions Steve. 🙂👍
@stevehunter84734 жыл бұрын
