Welcome to Sam Shutt Farming, daily life on the Hill farm
This is Sam and Oliver plus 4 children farming beef sucklers and sheep in the North Yorkshire/Cumbria border area.
We are first-generation farmers, and we've had no help at all to get to where we are now. We are here to show you our life and what we do. I am also here to show new entrance that it is possible to start from scratch. Being strong-willed, determined, and a lot of hard work, you can do it.
We are both from farming backgrounds. I grew up on a family dairy farm. Milking from a very young age.Working for my uncle when i left school. I've learnt everything from him and grown ever since. I met Oliver when I was 16 he was 15. We started with a few sheep when we met and have built up over the 16 years to where we are now. We took on a 500-acre hill farm in 2019 currently 5 years into the tenancy.
Also, to show people women can be useful in the agricultural world.😉😁

perfect view of the straw chopper. i have a local dairy farmer who has robots. thats how he does it. can you imagine putting round bails in , trying to get it done without getting muellered before you get out . sod it . but the dust on the chopper is shocking. but yes its a good idea. providing the tractor starts. ----------------. said oliver. lol.

off to cumbria tomorrow place called Holesfoot, weather looks nice, maybe you and your man could build a bridge and as my wife says 'get over it' great video have to say thats me with the screws his next complaint will be a flat tyre cos its got a screw in it. Joe Seeles needs that battery thing for his jcb, it looks good it would have taken some work to jump were it was.

you seem like a nice girl Sam but as for your fella there i don't think he should talk to you like that ........he's very lucky to have a wife that helps out on a farm......many women these days don't want to know........someone should have a little word with him and remind him how lucky he is to have a nice wife and kids. i know things aren't easy at times on farms but it doesn't help if people are going around swearing and talking down to you all the time

He really appreciates me trying to attempt to put our daily life on social media every day to show people the reality of first-generation farmers. Al be honest It's not fun all the time, and it's not easy, nor will it get easier .It's a life we chose and are wanting to succeed For our kids future. The stress and worry dosent leave you. His upbringing is a part of who he is. He's a genuine guy that wants to do well of nothing. I believe he plays a good part in my youtube future. 😍

you need reconition . you need people to realise that without farmers people get nothing . stop pointing the finger at them . real people who work all day, every day. respect them please. thats me being serious. its not right. i admire you , for what you have done and are doing. if i met you in person i would say the same. you know what you do and why , but it seems like a vendetta against farmers and farming. its so wrong.

you are very welcome sam. last year i went to my local show and felt different . im tea total , and have a open mind. but we all have feelings. to say its not fair is a understatment. like i said , if i saw you we could talk about alot of things. im serious about this subject. i love cows , calves, and lovely people. thats it. ok, im old fashioned , and stuck in my ways. thats not a problem.
