In the latest clip, the Feurtado Brothers revealed that they got involved with gangs around junior high (middle) school. They said the gangs formed in response to the racism they faced from white residents in Queens. The Feurtado Brothers also detailed how they weren't predisposed to violence prior to entering the streets.

Of course not. NYC always had gangs going back over 100 years. NYC was the epicenter of street gangs in the 1950's and 1970's. People have a huge misconception that NYC started gangbanging in the 90's with Latin Kings, Bloods and Crips

The Black Spades, Savage Skulls, Savage Nomads, Ghetto Brothers....those were just "some" of the 1970's gangs that had divisions and chapter throughout the 5 borough's, Westchester County, and in other states with thousands of members. Check out the documentary Rubble Kings. It was about the NYC gangs of the 70's and the 1971 Peace Treaty in the Bronx. It doesn't even scratch the surface of how big the gangs were or their history but it will give you an idea. The Seven Crowns was a gang that started in the Bronx but had huge numbers in Queens. Nearly every neighborhood in The Bronx, Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Queens had a gang. Staten Island too but to a smaller extent
