Lol I've been a woodworker 35 years and some of these I have to admit I didn't know! I like the threaded rod hack (that's always a pain) but especially the drill a pipe hole with a line layout to drill centre...great with a drillpress especially. Ok I'll share one I didn't see: to find centrepoint on a board lay your tape diagonally lining up two marks (say 10" on one edge and 20" on other edge (as long as the tape is diagonal almost like along a mitre cut line). The 15" mark on your tape would then be the centrepoint of the board.

@15:06 Simple Mitered-Corner Brace Support. Cut wood piece square... draw 2 diagonal lines across corner to corner... drill 1" hole through exact middle with Forstner bit... use jig or band saw to cut 1/4 section out along the lines. Use larger 3/4-portion to support outer corner of picture frame, & smaller 1/4-portion to support inner corner... apply compression clamp to straight edges inside & out to hold securely. Might have to make that center hole bigger if want to be able to tack the outside corners with brads. Otherwise, can apply hardware to the flat side of the miter. LOVE THIS!!! Thank you! [1.5.2022]

This also helps if you're gluing the joint, the hole in the center allows the glue to squeeze from the joint without then adhering to whatever you're holding it with...and also allows to get your finger in there to wipe it away before it dries. Although, I know some who allow the glue to dry so it can be cut away later. I like to wipe away and then after it dries, a quick couple of passes with a very fine grit sandpaper takes away all residue.

For the one with filling a screw hole with sawdust and superglue...that works great if you're going to paint over it, or it won't be seen. If if it's going to be unpainted and seen, use wood glue instead. I worked cabinetry for 20 years and would always have jars of sawdust from each type of wood that we used. When I got done filling a hole, you could barely tell there had been a hole there.

Thanks for making the video, but most of these are more expensive in materials than just buying the correct tool for the job. You can get cheap version of the tools necessary to solve almost all of these problems at Harbor Freight or Menard's for probably equivalent or sometimes even less. Some of the jury-rigging ideas were pretty good, though.

yes.. and this now is another reason i can justify buying a heating gun. I had been avoiding it because the only reason were few, that i could think of, such as for to shrink heat shrink tubing.. but i can just use a lighter for smale jobs.. but I like the idea of using it for softening and shrinking plastic from bottles for making molds I m wondering if i made strips out of the plastic bottles and wrapped something, overlaying the plastic strips, if the plastic would, if it got hot enough, become sticky and the strips would stick to eachother.

these are some great tips and tricks. As I watch these it helps me be more creative in coming up with solutions for things in my own life. I am considering making a channel for videos with tips and tricks i have used with wire hangers. The reason I like wire hangers is because they have been so plentiful and people tend to throw them away. And the wire can be used for so many different things. It just occured to me on how usefull Glue gun could be used to fill some small DIY castings of objects I need to replicate. I am wondering if it would be possible to melt plastin into glue gun stick shapes to use the plastic in a glue gun to ooze out plastic

Interesting; tying the cords is something I've done for 50 years, drilling into a cylinder or flat metal; have a hole punch ( adjustable) makes a dimple so the drill bit stays in place, have a telescopic tool with a magnet on end. I have made a box and other things from scrap. I like Baltic birch plywood, it's costly. Hammering a nail to release a cable tie; go from the back if you can. drill holes in a block of wood to cut dowel rods so they don't split/splinter using the radial arm saw.

2 for you: Paint roller "burgers". Take duct tape (18") and stick one end under a cabinet over-hang etc. Hold the other sticky-side up and run the fresh roller over it and grab all the fuzzies. Medium size garbage cans (shop or kitchen) when you put a plastic bag in the trapped pressure needs to be pushed out. Drill 1/2" holes (4-6) around perimeter 12" from bottom. Bag doesn't balloon and no smell can come out as the bag remains intact.
