Jacob Jaywant I might be new to From games, never played Dark Souls, but I love it honestly. The fighting style is hard but also very very fun. It puts so much control in your hands, but almost too much control, as you have to time your every hit and block meticulously. But I am new to this sort of game (Witcher 3 and Zelda are the closest things I’ve played, and they’re nothing like Sekiro), so I’m sure my perspective is a bit different than the Souls fans

I actually hate all of the tools. They feel too situational, have too long a windup, or are just straight up bad imo. That's what made me master the sword on sword combat so early. Even now I still find it too difficult to make use of them outside of maybe firecrackers if I can remember they exist.

Alastor situationality is by design. It’s sort of akin to how items worked in Zelda, they’re good for specific situations and enemies, though the tools in this game have much less “clear” situations for use than Zelda’s tools. And yes, the tools aren’t entirely mandatory, you HAVE to master sword on sword combat to play Sekiro. The long windup means you can sneak a tool attack in with the Axe or Sabimaru, for example, after deflecting an enemy when there’s a slight stagger to capitalize on the window. You can’t just pop the button and have it always go through, learning to time an axe swing into a fang and blade example won’t win you the fight, but it can make it shorter if you time it in between your slashes and deflects.

Great guide! I would like to further draw attention to the Living Force use. Even against enemies that can't be back stabbed by the move, it is very powerful, because you can just spam R1 to keep turning them around for successful free hits.

Press R2 to activate mist stance. When holding the left stick in a desired direction while attacked in mist stance, you teleport a short distance in that direction. If left stick isn’t used, you’re teleported directly above the enemy. Mist stance has a small window in which to be attacked or the teleport doesn’t initiate so learn the timing. It doesn’t work for grab attacks and only uses spirit emblems when the teleport is successful.

Divine Abduction is the perfect farming tool. For late game when you need Fulminated Mercury it's great in the Ashina Outskirts area to give double drops. Against Ministry agents who have massive DPS it's a godsend. Then you have it in Senpou Temple where it auto kills Monks who drop Fat Lump of Wax, Grave Wax, and Sugars. A further path in Senpou Temple the monkeys drop Persimmons for essentially infinite Rice/Fine Snow!

@@Harry_Eyeball Five color rice is Sekiro's version of prism stones. Rice/Fine Snow are healing items received from the Divine child of Rejuvenation that function like pellets but much better, with a long duration and more healing per tic.

@@Harry_Eyeball Rice is a significantly better healing item than Pellets, and Fine Snow is an even better version of that. Both are obtained from the Child of Rejuvenating Waters. Where Persimmons come into play is that you can only receive 3-4 units of Rice in a cycle before you're asked for a Persimmon to reset it. You only get 4 or 5 persimmons in a single playthrough, so the ability to farm them is a godsend. Be sure to use it with a Mibu Balloon of Possession!

I feel like this tool would be much more useful if it only needed to be cast once to cause the effect, having to press R2 twice to turn an enemy around is ridiculous. Either that, or the initial Gathering Vortex has an effect, like letting you tank a single hit without taking vitality damage

The one and only GOOD use for this is along with Ceremonial Tanto (farming). Otherwise it's nothing special and you better use those emblems elsewhere. Also don't trust these fanatics that say this tool is any good for regular play. It's not emblem efficient, it's not working for all enemies.

Midnight Madness because that’s not an illusion, it’s a quote : “vengeful spirit that appears after twilight to claim revenge on the living”. The only illusion in the game are lady butterfly’s, mibu corrupted monk, and the translucent headless at the bottom of fountainhead lake

Yeah I would say just go buy some snap seeds and skip the lazulite axe, especially when the amount of stuns available in a fight seems to be capped (at 3 vs corrupted monk i think).

It should be noted that the Golden Fan's money drop skill is not very cost efficient if you factor in the cost of the spirit emblems it takes to cast it and how expensive it would be to purchase them back. The only time you really earn any actual net positive is if you have a stupid surplus of emblems and just don't care, or if you are using bonus emblems given to you by the Ceremonial Tanto

I find it is still cost-effective, as you can still get free emblems from killing during the farming process. I usually finish a farming run anywhere with as many emblems or more than I started.

This is kinda inaccurate. Just from a sen perspective you have to spend 200 sen to cast golden vortex but depending on the enemy gaining +300 sen back wouldn't be out of the ordinary for double money drops. That doesn't even include the chance get emblems back from their deaths, further reducing its cost.

@@scuppo If you play on PC you can make backups of your savefile right before choosing an ending and after doing it reset the save and do the other endings.

@@scuppo You can do 3 endings on the same save if you backup to cloud/USB before the final boss. It still took me 'til NG+3 to unlock all skills though so you might as well do multiple playthroughs. The game is fantastic though; good enough to warrant at least 2 playthroughs, anyway.

Kodoq101 in accordance with Japanese mythology “kamikakushi” or “spiriting away” simply means “to remove without anyone noticing.” It is also used to describe someone whose spirit has been claimed by a wrathful deity and subsequently removed from the mortal coil. The monks attempting to attain immortality through the centipedes was an affront to the divine dragon, so when you presented him with an opportunity to punish the wicked, he took it. In short, they disappear because they angered a god and tried to hide from it, using da “reveals” them to the god and he then spirits them away.

Lies and slander! It's a fine tool with some neat hidden effects. While the video mentioned using it with the Living Force skill, it neglected to note that hitting multiple enemies with a single swing will spin all enemies struck by your blade, making it a great crowd control tool.

Yeah that two is the most OP/useful in every situtation, but just a tip try out the spiral spear against a stunned headless guardian ape that stuff does loads of posture dmg even on ng+4(thats where i tried it)

I dont get the point of this tool. If your timing is good enough to press r2 two times while waiting between them, you are more than good enough to deflect. And deflect obviously doesnt cost spirit emblems, plus it causes posture damage. Why waste emblems on this standing there waiting for enemies to kill you for 3 whole seconds for the abduction animation? Beat the game 4 times, never saw a use for this. Seems like its just for cool youtube videos.

you know what's the one flaw about the gameplay in sekiro??? you can't use the prosthetic tools while on the move , as soon as you press RT/R2 or whatever it is on PC the character stands still to use the tool this is the only big flaw in the combat in my opinion

There are ways around this, most notably the shuriken (after learning the shinobi skill) and the flame vent can be used airborne. Airborne flame is especially fun and significantly reduces its windup animation.

I don’t see how this is a flaw, you just need to time your use of prosthetics correctly, just as you need to time when you choose to heal or use a combat art. There is also a way around this in that most prosthetics can be used while jumping. Just don’t be an idiot

And I don't need to spend 3/4 extra emblems for a ninjutsu when I can just use stealth or the free backstab skill. You'll have to post video evidence if you want to convince me otherwise.

Ninjutsu is pronounced neen-JUUTE-suu. Not neen-JUT-suu. The key is the long U sound. Jutsu typically means technique in Japanese and is usually a suffix to whatever type of technique they are talking about. Ninjutsu is Ninja Jutsu or Ninja Technique.
