Marcos Ramos probably would have needed a damage nerf then. All you’d need to do if it didn’t require spirit emblems is pop a wealth balloon and kill some enemies a couple times until you’ve saved up a massive amount of cash. Then you could just sit back in a boss fight and spam your minted ammunition until the enemy keels over under the weight of your bank account.

You have to learn about key frames and look up excel sheets. You'd have to literally bug test each any enemy with every feasible combination of weaponry at every stage to figure out the most efficient way to kill something, completely destroying the immersion of being a baddass shinobi who can kill literal Gods but could still be taken down by a troop of monkeys. How is this fun to you guys?

@@Chad.Commenter Think of cheesing a boss like this as an easy mode. There's nothing wrong with thinking a boss is too hard to be fun, and then cheesing it to make it exactly 25 percent easier. "Git gud" doesn't mean "watch a guide on how to set the game onto easy."

One thing to add, the charged R2 also stuns the enemy (while spinning) for a longer time and allows your chasing slice to hit for vitality damage rather than getting blocked.

The only other note re: charged spinning shuriken is that it is very useful in the Lady Butterfly fight whenever she jumps onto a wire. While she can parry non-charged shurikens, the charged shuriken will always penetrate her guard on the third damage 'tick' even with just the Spinning Shuriken upgrade, dealing vitality and knocking her down.

@@thenewniccage2283 Honestly your way is better. Almost none of the prosthetics should be used for straight damage. Their effect is what makes them good. Even the axe is better used for filling the posture bar than dealing damage.

Another thing is that if the charged R2 hits the enemy without getting blocked, it also stuns the enemy (while spinning) for a longer time and allows your chasing slice to hit for vitality damage rather than getting blocked. This trick does do pretty good damage to vitality for 1 spirit emblem, does damage from a (safe) distance and ofcourse is a great way of getting into the offence again after backing off for healing or posture recovery.

I haven't tested this against butterfly yet, But one thing I disagree with in the video is charging shurikens not being that good. The charged up shuriken rotations force struck enemies into a blocking animation, which gives you time to start something else up. Charge the shuriken, follow in with chasing strike, then ichimonji double for example. The charge up may not be a massive damage burst over regular throws, but it's super useful for that delay in them returning to normal functions.

Shuriken -> Chasing Slice is really good against Old Isshin as it allows you to negate his step-dodge thing he does. Works especially well with a Charged throw which will help guarantee that Chasing Slice connects for Vitality damage.

The shuriken is great against Lone Shadows with shinobi dogs! This saved me big time during the Masanari (Hirata Estate) fight by interrupting all of his attempts to whistle.

Love using the shuriken. Chasing slice really lets you be mobile in combat and many ranged enemies (crossbow, musket, etc) can be killed in 2-3 hits from stealth without alerting those around them.

I use it alongside Nightjar reversal to move about a lot in fights, mainly cuz it's cool but it has plenty of in-fight applications, some attacks have a wind up that you can land one attack in so I reversal out before the combo begins, then chasing slice back in after and stuff like that

Following Strikes is the reason why the shuriken is so strong. The ability to keep distance on Owl or Lady Butterfly while attacking vitality is really important in the beginning of battles.

I'd say the sen shuriken is the best, as despite it's lack of vitality damage, it's real value lies in it's posture damage, as dealing posture damage is how you win fights

Info for everyone interested: looking at the parameters of lazulite shuriken (for those interested, Google UXM and Yapped), it appears to deal more damage on a guarding enemy. Explained better, it deals more damage than the gouging top and on top of that it has more penetrating percentage on guarding enemis than gouging top, numbers are about 50% for the gouging top and 66% for the lazulite shuriken

Good guides. Wanted to branch out and see what I was missing with the other ones and this definitely helped. I have to point out something, that's probably a repeat in this thread, but the loaded shuriken and specifically the gauging top variants are really effective in allot of bosses and miniboss fights. Orin and Genichiro are notable for having near full arena attacks meant to punish a heal attempt. Gaining just a few steps back and charging it up can stun multiple human sized enemies to which you can safely heal or regroup. This works really well on Orin and the Shinobi swordsman whatever's as they have a diverse set of attacks to delete your health bar at any given moment if you try to chug in their faces. Using them to close the gap on a single enemy is a fast way to keep the pressure going similar to your notes on the spear. The last bit is the phantom kunai deal very respectable damage especially charged at range as you pointed out. But in a boss fight you can dodge, fire charged kunai, and use the follow up slash to deal a staggered damage and put you right up in their face. It's a really cheap way to control and maintain constant pressure

Shuriken is the most useful tool in the game. It lets you quickly close distance between enemies like owl, owl father, and isshin who go back quite far after their combos/at the start of them. The shuriken was a lifesaver when I was doing isshin as it lets you completely stop his gun in the second phase.

One thing I did in the Owl fight was hyper spam Phantom Kunai right at the beggining to get his health a bit lower. But I mainly did it because I would be using Empowered Mortal Draw whenever he jump-slamed. And since I didn't care for the extra damage as it would make a bad situation slight less bad I didn't wanted to "waste" the spirit emblems there. So I used the Kunai to reduce his health a bitwhich would, then, increase his posture damage for the rest of the first phase.

I use the shuriken as a gap closer or a feint. It sets up healing items, oils, or Ash much easier when you're at a decent range. Especially against enemies that slap you right as you're about to heal.

I think I mostly used this one, cause it's the most straightforward one. Often when I'm at a distance from a boss, I'd just throw one in so they don't think about doing some weird attacks while I'm closing the distance. And you know do a little chip HP and poise.

Butterfly is helpful for getting in damage against high-posture enemies, and for keeping pressure on bosses like Owl and Isshin. Also, spinning/gouging top is excellent for taking care of that one general surrounded by gunmen, by sniping them from the roofs, as well as stealthily killing Juzou's cronies. Plus, it's chasing slice is good for those who decide to fight without the Nightjar Leap (though why you wouldn't use it is beyond me. I personally prefer it to the Ichimonji most times)

I also was able to take down one of Shume’s life’s in the Ashina Reservoir with about a good 18 spirit emblems using the phantom kunai while being perched up on the branch that’s there. Just enough distance for all the butterflies to connect.

They need to change and buff the lazulite prostethics. They are super weak for endgame stuff and limited resources. The fire-axe is way better than the lazulite axe. Lazulite shuriken and gouging too barely have any difference. Except +1 damage lmao. Lazulite vent is useless because it doesn't do flame damage. The only thing flame vent is good for. Yeah ofcourse apparation damage and stuff but who cares? It is useless for normal enemies and bosses. And it is not even that good against apparitions in the first place. Lilac umbrella does the job way better.

The only thing lazulite vent is good for is the confetti buff on your sword when used in conjunction with living force, but by that point of the game (when you both have that skill and that prosthetic) it's very likely you also have unlimited divine confetti (which last 60s compared to living force buff, only 20s) in every shop. So you probably end up using the confetti from your inventory anyway

The further I got in the game the less I actually used the prosthetic tools. Didn't use them at all for the final few bosses... changing them to the one I need got me killed a lot of the time so completely unequipped them all in the last 3rd of the game

When I first started I thought it was going to be a go to tool and quickly got the butterfly upgrade. Then being incredibly disappointed and never gone back. I only ever use flares and purple shield, besides occasionally switching out for something situational but in general I barely even use prosthetics at all. It's the same with the combat arts really... I think this game was amazing, but the arts and tools were extremely underwhelming. I feel they should have really focused in on the concept of combos etc, so arts weren't a one attack kind of thing, but instead completely changed the base fighting style/r1 combo you used. This is where a game like Nioh really outshines, given the 3 stances etc. And I've moved on from Sekiro on NG+ because there isn't really anything driving it on for me. I have so much sen and it's completely useless and every enemy boss drops bags of it. Even if they upped the damage and you had to get beads etc again, at least that would have been SOMETHING. Might start a NG again at some point and not upgrade the beads or something, but otherwise it just feels lacking.
