FF7 - Ruby Weapon defeated by Vincent's Chaos

This video is an answer to Acro, who made a few days ago a similar challenge with Nanaki's Howling Moon. I'd never have this idea without him, so all credits go to Acro for this discovery. ;-)
Weapon : Death Penalty
Armor : Mystile
Accessory : Jem Ring
Materias : Time - Added Effect (useless here) and HP Plus on weapon ; Poison - Elemental, Transform - Added Effect and Mystify - Added Effect (useless too, cos Vincent is immunized against Confusion, Berserk and Frog when he uses a Limit Break, and I forgot that ^^) on armor.
With this equipment, I'm immunized against all Ruby's bad statuts, but Poison. The most important trick here, is Ruby's left tentacle attack. She inflicts [Poison], but she's not Poison-elemental. So you can be poisoned by the left tentacle, but with Poison - Elemental, you'll absorb damages of the Poison status, as an illimited Regen !
Chaos increases both Defense and Magic Defense to 100%, so if Vitality and Spirit are already at 255, all Ruby's attacks will be ridiculous (31 HP max, for Shadow Flare), except percentage based damages, but they can't kill... And as you'll gain 312 HP for each turn, it's impossible to die, except if you're not poisoned quickly, but it'd be really unlucky. So it's a way easier than Acro's vid with Nanaki and his Howling Moon. I'd say it's even not a challenge... ^^
Entire battle lasts more than 3 hours, cos I didn't increase Death Penalty's damages ! It doesn't really matter, as you won't do any other control than choosing Chaos, until the battle finishes. ^^

I recorded the whole fight, but I uploaded only a few minutes cos it's EXACTLY the same stuff during 3 hours. No skills at all. Give the same equipment than me for Vincent, launch Chaos, and it's over... XD The only way to die is to not be poisoned quickly, but it's rare.

It's not THAT cheap when you realise how it works, and a lot of RPG's do this. The tentacles take away a certain percentage of your hp and mp. They aren't meant to kill you, but to get you weak enough so that Ruby Weapon can finish you off.

This is silly and it shouldn't work but it does. You can start Vincent's limit and literally walk away to let the game play itself. The sad part is that I tried this myself and it's really easy to pull off. Bit time-consuming to set up, mind you because of the grinding to get V up to those stats, but holy crap does it work. Out of his limit even with several boosts, nobody else can pull it off with this same setup.

Haha, just stumbled on this video... Funny thing... I found this "trick" out, mostly by accident. When I was playing the game (WAYYYYY back when), I planned for Cloud to solo Ruby after he kills off the other two. I put all kinds of materia on him for KOTR multiplier and counter... Of course, he kills Cloud and whatever strategy I had went out the window.... leaving me with just Vincent and full limit bar. I was bored and figured I'd go grab some food or something and decided, "what the heck, let's see how long Vincent can last by himself"... Came back after eating and the fight was STILL going! Then I watched Vincent beat Ruby. Of course, my reaction was "WHAT THE HECK?!?" edit: it's been a while, I thought I used a different transformation... but like I said, it's been a while, so I can't remember. The only thing I know for sure, Vincent auto-played the fight.

Vincent can't overflow with a Limit. Limits' formulas override special weapon's formulas. With max stats, Vincent can't even deal 9999 on Tentacles with Satan Slam, without a Hero Drink. Anyway, Tentacles die in 5 Attacks.

+Bruno Rocha Actually, what Bio said is true. Chaos = Graland, but Vincent =/= Chaos... Taken form Vincent's wiki page... "The procedure worked, as Vincent's body, due to Hojo's previous experiments, was strong enough to become a vessel for Chaos, a mysterious entity with incredible power." So Chaos is living in Vincent, not that Chaos IS Vincent. Besides, Garland died because of the Warriors of Light XD

Some equipment absorbs poison (if I'm not mistaken) and then you can pair up "Added Effect" and poison on your armor to absorb that, or Master Magic Materia + Added Effect or something like that, and it will have you absorb every kind of bad effect (or make you immune to it) that is on your item. If you equip that combo to your weapon, it gives YOU those status effects (any that Master Magic would contain, like poison, stop...ect)

BohepansTheThird The time it takes to get to Ruby Weapon is enough time to cultivate enough kills with Vincent to do decent damage to Ruby Weapon. Plus, training to level 99 also requires a lot of time, so there was plenty of time to get Vincent's Death Penalty to do decent damage.

Fun fact: when you've maxed your stats with the source duping trick and pop 4 hero drinks on that character, emerald shoot does 3 digit damage. And btw, nothing else he has except aire tam can kill you after that.

Fought him and Emerald with Cloud, Tifa, and Cid for HOURS. I remember one day I was able to beat them both... Passed out afterwards and hit my head on a door knob lol.

even without duping you can steal all sources from the mobs in sunken Gelnika. Takes quite a while (7ish hours) to steal enough to 255 out stats, but it's doable

Even with Vincent max stats the real damage comes from death penalty kills to keep the damage at 9999 Vincent with a max str still won’t cause 9999 to ruby the death penalty kills is where the real damage comes into play.

I just defeat both of them within an hour with a combo I figured out (probably has been found out before me though) I put HPMP, three combos of MASTER Knights of the Round + Final Attack and I only had to use Turbo Ethers when Ruby took away a large amount of the 9999 MP that I had from the HPMP

Final attack only works 5 times, even if you have multiple sets equipped.

Yes but they still all trigger when you die. One pair casts up to 5 KotR (Game over if no input) while two pairs cast up to 10 KotR (victory) and three pairs cast up to 15 KotR (victory in less turns).

might defeat the purpose, but I'm pretty sure you can hero drink chaos to speed this up. just start the battle reviving your team, cast chaos, use the drinks, have them kill themselves off, and now you can hit for 10k instead of 2.

A lot of us played the game enough to get there on our own without tricks. I know I maxed out several players killing the weapons and trying to breed the black chocobo. I haven't played FFVII in maybe 14 years and I still remember it vividly. (I'm not a gamer, the game really was that good)

As far as I can recall, that only works for Power Sources, Luck Sources, and Speed Sources, because all of the other sources are morphed from enemies that only appear one at a time.

You can still dupe them if you have the morph item appear in your inventory while the first item in your inventory is selected while only having one in your inventory. Then the morphed item takes its place and you can continue to dupe the source.

The stats aren't modded. You can get an unlimited number of sources to increase your stats with. It's not hard, but it's either a long process or rather luck-reliant. As to Cloud's new name...the guy's french. Why not Pierre?

or you can NOT cheat and every enemy on the crashed plane gelnika can be morphed into a source. hallway being luck and speed, the dragons i think were spirit, the flowers magic or something and a few others, and the heavy tanks (triceratops things) in gongaga morph into power sources. also yufi has the best synergy with morph. for some reason she tends to hit harder. give her mega all for the gelnika hallway and watch em roll in.

There's actually another exploit with it. To duplicate non-combat items, you need to have a stack of sources at 1, and a stack of another item at 2 somewhere higher in the list. You need an enemy to steal the source from you, then you need to kill him off (spells work well) and prepare to duplicate the stack of 2 before you get the source back. Once the source gets back, it'll occupy the open slot the stack of 2 left, and it'll be duplicated instead of the item you originally used with W-Item.

I beat him with phoenix and last attack or whatever the materia was called and some mimic and what i used to actually kill him with i dont remember, almost 20years ago i did it. My record on the angel version on sephirot was less than 30s haha(including the intro thing). fast attacks go before his shield and then he dies in a 4xslash thing with 9999dmg.

@Serenity Knights of the round linked with hp absorb, Hades, w summon, and mime. Simply w summon casting hades first to stun Ruby, knights of the round to damage him (being stunned he wont retaliate) then proceed to mime the combo until he dies, if he gets any attacks off hp absorb on knights of the round heals you up, hades constantly stunning him. :) xD OH dont forget to wear a Ribbon :)

If you cast KotR or Hades, that's not a no control Chaos challenge/demo anymore... And Ribbon is a terrible idea when you make a strategy based on poisoning absorption.

That'd be out of the challenge, in this case, but to answer your question, this is how it works: Vincent and his transformations are globally the same entity: his AI is completely different, but they share the same base stats, with a bonus or handicap in %. If you use the item before or after the transformation, it's the same result. Hero Drinks and Vincent's transformations use the same stat modifiers. Stat modifiers are capped from -100% to +100%. Hero Drinks give +30% Att, MAtt, Def, and MDef and Chaos gives Vincent +100% Def and MDef. So 4 Hero Drinks do nothing about Chaos' defenses, but indeed double the power of his two attacks (as long as they don't reach 9999). If Vincent's Limit was Death Gigas (+100% HP, +50% Def, -70% MDef, -20% Dex), he'd need at least 2 Hero Drinks to max his Def, 4 Hero Drinks to also max his Att and MAtt, and 6 Hero Drinks to also max his MDef.

He has 255 vitality (defense) and 255 spirit (magic defense) which is the max you can obtain, however anything you use in battle which temporary increases stars allows you to go past that cap and using the chaos limit break doubles both defense and magic defense.

W-summon Hades -> KotR, Mime. If he's paralyzed he can't counterattack KotR with Ultima, Magic Plus will help you do damage if you haven't source farmed.
