Zidane is such a great character. His story is one of it doesn't matter where you're from or your lineage. What matters is who you choose to be. I truly love the characters and story of this game. It's my favorite Final Fantasy. It was the first one I beat when I was a kid and I've played through it probably ten times.

Like yourself, I also thought my reflexes weren't the same as when I was a kid, but I did some research and it appears the game has quite a bit of input lag, and that lag is increased even more because we use LCD screens nowadays, so that's why the minigame is much much harder now.

Final Fantasy IX is such a good game but I do have the same gripes as you regarding the combat and the trophies. It boggles my mind how many of the trophies cannot be obtained naturally - truly an abysmal list. It’s games like this that put me off going for 100%. I don’t want all trophies to be natural but when there are so many unreasonable ones, it just makes it feel like more of a chore and sucks the fun out for me. I might be chuffed to get the platinum if I got there, but I’d also likely never want to touch the game again. 😂 Maybe that sounds a bit extreme lol. There’s a few things keeping this from being a 10/10 game for me, however I do rank it in the upper half of FF games imo. I will say that I didn’t much care for Quina as while I love their blue magic, eating the enemies got to be such a pain to deal with that I’d ultimately swap them out for Steiner. And usually Dagger for Eiko.

Yeah out of all the ones I've done so far, this one definitely puts you out your way and not in a fun way. I'm glad I've got it done and the next time I play it, I can be super casual and just enjoy all the positives! I really enjoyed it this time around compared to my first time playing it and I'm just a sucker for Blue Magic! 😅

I think I remember Sakaguchi saying something along the lines of “you’ll never see a Final Fantasy like this again” 23 years ago. Was he ever right or what? Well, at least until that remake comes out, if I’m lucky enough to still be alive then. Whatever happened to Hiroyuki Ito by the way? Wasn’t he proclaimed to be a visionary? Now he’s probably working on some mobile shovelware.

Trance goes up the higher your Spirit is I really dig FFIX I think it's the hardest Platinum I even got FFX Platinum which is pretty easy its luck with the minigames as I completed FFX about 20 times over the years The jump rope is going to be awful but I am hoping on my holidays from work to replay FFIX The summons in FFIX are my favorite Ark and Bahamut are so cool

A little bit of RNG in Tetra Master!? Lol, I got my 9 P attack stat smashed by a 0 P def stat so often that I adapted to saving before any card game as a 100% must. I honestly don't know how they butchered this idea so badly. (Hey let's have cards level up, but also have the card stats frequently nosedive for unexpected losses, sounds fun right!?) Tetra Master is the 2nd worst thing about FF9, right after 'Hail to the King'. Other than those flops though, I love everything about FF9.

I have grown to love FF9, but when I first played it when I was 10 after having played FF7, FF8 and FF10 first, which all had what was considered realistic graphics back in the day and modern to futuristic settings for 7 and 8, I was also not the biggest fan of the character design and high fantasy world. While I'm still not sure about the character design after two decades, I do love the world, the story and the characters of FF9, my only issue is how excruciatingly slow battles are, entering a battle is super slow, the ATB takes forever to fill up, the animations are also super slow when FF7 and FF8's were very dynamic. When it comes to the music, to me it's not quite on par with 7 and 8; while the game has some excellent tracks, I find the boss theme to be one of the worst in the series and there are tracks I just find annoying, which doesn't happen often in a FF game.

Hot take: I prefer Tetra Master than 3ple Triad. In 3ple Triad it's all absolute, you win or you lose. You can see that you'll lose the battle from far away and there's nothing you can do about it. But in 4 Master, the RNG can help you (and of course it can go against you, but at least you still have a fighting chance)

9 was a good game and really pretty graphics and the style was great too. I didn’t care for Zidane at all. I thought his design was terrible. Dagger was cool. Vivi was ok never understood why everyone thought he was so great. Everyone else was rather forgettable. Steiner was ok tho.

I have done it the 3 times I played FF 9 on PS1, but somehow I cant do it on PS5 😒😒 Eventually I know I will get it, if I reach 300 its a wrap, but 200-300 always gives me trouble, and interrumption or a random itch on face lmao 🤣🤣🤣

I don't know who came up with this trophy list but they must have been passed off that day or a sadist. How are you going to do XI since the 360 version which had achievements is discontinued and the Steam version didn't get achievements.

FF9 is my favorite FF, but the port i played sucked. The input lag made the rope jumping impossible without cheat tools. Navigating the menus was also a nightmare. I wish i still had my ps1 so i could play the proper version of FF9.

I had tried this several years back and could never get the latency right, but, IT WORKED THIS TIME!! My settings were 360p and high for remote play, and then latency of 262 on the septimore version running as admin. I also have fiber internet. I am so glad that I got this trophy cause it was the ONE trophy that stopped me from even bothering to platinum one of my favorite final fantasy games and now I can go do that!

Quite disappointed that you used a script for the jump rope mini game. I can understand why you would want to AFK the 10k slain enemies trophy since there's no skill involved, it's just needlessly tedious. I'm hopeful that you'll go back and get the 1000 jumps legitimately someday. You're too earnest of a player to get the trophy so cheaply.
