Great review! I recently bought this model for use as a home office UPS and as an emergency backup for various home systems. I am very impressed so far. It is sitting under my office desk and runs the entire office. It is absolutely silent and my average draw during the work day is a fairly constant 400-500W. One feature that you didn't mention (I think) is that the AC charger is built in, therefore no big charging brick like so many other units have. Any computer style power cord works. As for the capacity, I think that it is not that the batteries are smaller than 2000 Wh but the inverter is less efficient and uses some of the power. All of these all in ones do the same but some are more efficient than others. None deliver 100% of rated battery capacity.

Disappointed to see DC efficiency less than 75%. But like the AC inputs configuration. It looks like many competitors realizing back up power is in demand. Competition is good but quality/ reliability still my major consideration. If u r looking for video ideas (I've watched many of ur vids but don't recall seeing this) as a DIYer and desire for easy cutover for home power in an outage have u seen or done a video implementing an auto cutover to backup power station during outage (safely moving from grid to no grid and back to grid). I like they allow cables to b stored, cable management for multiple devices a real pain. Based on urctesting it should b 1500 not 2000 unless they can explain why ur testing resulted in such lower results than expected. Thx for ur efforts to educate Jason. Blessings.

I purchased this unit a couple of months ago. Recently the power company did maintenance in my area and as a result turned the power off for a little over 6 hours. I used this to power a 15cu freezer, an 18cu fridge and a 1.8 cu fridge connected with extension cords to the AC inverter. It ran all of them perfectly and had about 23% battery remaining. It was a cool day that day and as a result the fridges did not cycle on that much. The power station worked perfectly. The only thing I did was to manage to break the flap cover over the charging ports. These plastic flap doors could be better designed. Still a great power station.. Great review.

Thank you for the review, Jason. A knock out job as always, sir. I purchased this unit on June 6th. It has performed VERY well for me overall. I have a specific use case for it on a mobile project I’m doing for customers involving a large mobile air compressor which pulls roughly 1600 watts nominally. I needed a 2000 watt power station that could recharge quickly if needed (this supercharger is no joke) and I didn’t want to spend a ton of money since this was out of my pocket and not my company’s. There has been one hiccup in this unit so far though… the upper usb-c 100watt port is not functioning. I noticed this earlier this week. And I’m not sure it ever worked. The lower usb-c works perfectly. I checked into this briefly with Amazon and it looks like I’ll be needing to contact FFPOWER directly myself. I’m hoping there is something they can do to help me since this was a feature I intended to use to charge my Mac Book Pro and IPad Pro at the same time. I do believe 2000 watt hours is a bit generous of a rating. Perhaps 1800 watt hours would have been more realistic. However, assuming all features operate as they should, I feel confident, for the money, this power station is one of the VERY BEST options out there right now (as of mid 2022).

Hi Jason. Good review as always. About a year ago you did a review of a budget solar panel, the Elecaenta portable panel. I bought it on your say and I love it. Small, light, perfect for my Bluetti EB55. That combo powers all my multiple camera batteries and my small fridge while I'm camping in the middle of nowhere. I'm in New Mexico so having plenty of sun is not a problem. As a side note, I don't like checked shirts...hahaha. I'm sure with all the positive stuff that you'll be able to live with that. 8/28/23: So I bought two of these in 11/30/22, and it's now 8/28/23, and one of them is holding less than a 10% charge. I only get about 100Wh to 200Wh before it dies. It recharges in 10 minutes from 0%, and it shows 9 hour run time on a 17w draw. Because I only use the unit as a UPS, I've only half discharged the unit one time, so I certainly haven't worn it out. I swore when I bought the unit FFPower was advertising a five year warranty, but now they are only advertising a one year warranty. I was a big fan of this unit's feature set, design, and implementation, however, I have serious quality concerns about the unit at this time. Could be the batteries are seriously out of balance, but I don't want to have to crack it open to fix that, so now I guess I'll be testing FF Power's warranty process. Since I'm within that currently advertised one year period.

You can email FFpower about the issue. Have you tried charging it really slowly from 12v? Maybe if it can trickle charge for a long slow charge it will re-balance the cells? That sounds like it might be the issue.

Great review. At $1,500 price point, there are a lot of options in the market, and it is difficult to pull the trigger because 2000wh power stations are not cheap at all. I stumbled across a new power station by Pecron. The new model E2000LFP has 1920wh. However, I can't find any KZbin review on this model, so I don't know how good or bad it is.

Thanks for the great review. Did you mention if the PD capability on the USB-C ports was bi-directional? The reason I ask is I am looking for a power station big enough to run my home appliances (room AC or kitchen fridge/freezer) and extend the run time by running my tiny propane inverter generator (900W surge and 700W continuous.) My thought being if the power station doesn't allow limiting AC charge wattage, I could "cheat" and plug in 2 high capacity USB-C chargers to the generator and get 200W charge into the batteries. Ideally, the power station would have a setting to limit the input wattage, but I haven't seen that as a listed option for many of them. Also, will the UPS capability be a risk to this? My thought is say you have a generator that maxes out around 1100W and are trying to charge with that while also trying to run a microwave that pulls about 1500W. What happens in that case? Does the generator trip out and stop charging or is the power station smart enough to supply the power directly and just use the generator to charge itself?

Good video, there are a few same models under different names I got 2 of the ideaplay models off woot for 629.00 each, same exact look and specs except solar charging input is 11.5 to 50 volts @ 500 watts, have you tried adding capacity with 1 or more batteries and a 36v boost converter? I'm trying that next they have popped up twice on woot for 629.00 at 1500 watts thats about 42 cents a watt, I don't know how you can beat that.

The 110 volts output is just a matter of design and not a negative factor as these units are designed for universal usage. What they should have built into it is to have selectable output voltages. I'm not sure why it's so hard for the designers to have it as an option.

I've had this FFPOWER for a year with no problems. Only used to test and during power outages. IMPORTANT Several sources recommend keeping at no more than 80% if stored for a long time . Sorry I don't remember the sources, but I figure if 3 sources recommend this, it is worth considering.

It was a big deal to worry about that with lithium ion batteries which had less charge cycles. I wouldn't worry about it too much with LFP batteries since they will last much longer.

Jason what was the brand of fan u used to test that only draws 1-2 watts (on low speed I presume?)? I have been looking for low watt use devices (that still perform). I notice now companies r making fans w/ DC motors (lower watts) but only plug into AC. Plus I noticed the Vornado DC motor fan also kept drawing 0.5 watts even when fan turned off (trying to determine if this is a flaw or for some reason DC version requires (I hope it is a flaw cause the AC only versions draw 0 watts when turned off).

good video...how many times were the batteries cycled before the capacity tests? sometimes you better results after a few cycles with lifepo. if not 2000 watt hours then the cost per watt is high.

Jasonoid: second question. For products in this category how long would you expect them to last? With the condition that they are not abused, the batteries aren't repeatedly drained... that is a well cared for power station. A power station that is put to use, but not abused.

I've been using mine as a UPS on my computer for about 8 months now, still going strong. It has a consistent wattage of 300 to 400 watts during the day and around 15 watts at night. I feel this power station has good reliability and should last for awhile. It's hard to know the exact time span since I haven't had it that long.

Excellent review. Yes, they should change the advertised kwh or add some cells. That is a bit too misleading. Your percent is a good guide. Let them know that if they can stick to one name - I got the Oukitel during the kickstarter after your review, up how many watts of solar panels you can attach and they have a product that will easily be a winning contender against the likes of Ecoflow and Blueti and certainly Jackery. Thank you for the advice on the wiring setup for this device. I was going to order the cables for 6 100W panels and put two series and those in parallel. I have no data but I bet the popularity of these power stations is not due to people wanting to go camping although that is a wonderful use for them. People want these for a grid down situation and if they work well for that then the camping needs are covered. there a many channels that review these devices and I rank yours as among the best.

Having a 1200 watt inverter running off your vehicle starter system would potentially charge this power station, but that is putting a very large load on your starter battery and alternator. Most stock alternators are good for about 20 to 30 amps of extra load on them. That level of wattage would pull over 100 amps from your starter system. I'd recommend charging this up via solar or a gas generator instead.

I used a dc-dc boost converter at 30 amps to charge mine at 400 watts. the one i got states 1500watts, and 30 amps, variable boost. so 14.4v at 30 amps = 432 watts. since mine is variable voltage i set it to 33 volts. my suggestion would be to turn off the lights/radio/ac if you plan to idle the engine while charging this power station. if you look into your vehicle's alternator, most output between 50 and 80 amps total, but there are sometimes options to get a larger one if you plan to use your cars engine as a power source.

Hi Jason. Awesome as usual. One thing I have been thinking about as you go through your scoring is related to bi-directional USB-C ports. I like them in concept but worry that the way they are now might be a liability or maybe I just don’t understand how they work. Say I had two identical power stations with a single usb-c, which happens to be bi-directional. I am out camping and use one to top of the other. If I use the usb-c port, I have no control over which direction the power flows. I wish these ports had a switch on them. Thanks again.

The power will usually flow to the lower "percentage" power station with the bi-directional ports, but it does have it's issues. The USB scoring system is definitely something that I need to think about changing up. Just haven't had time to really mull it over yet. You got any ideas how to change up the scoring?

@@Jasonoid I love that you try to score power stations. It is hard but helpful. I have thought a lot about it. In my world, if a scoring system were perfect for me, I would totally be able to use the score to make a buying decision. So between two units, I would know which to buy by score. Now, throw in the complication that most things are not binary. For example, I might not buy the AC200Max over the DeltaMax at their regular prices, but if the Bluetti were half price, I would choose it. Maybe at 30 percent off I would still choose it. Ok, so this becomes way crazy to score and rate. What you need is an AI engine that has been trained to think like your brain. Then you just enter in the stats and it tells you. Now, I assume you have better things to do with your time, haha, so don’t do what I say unless you think it is fun, which I am probably the only one that feels that way. Bottom line, I think you are already headed the right way with factors that have non-binary answers. Now I just killed 30 seconds of your life as you read this. 😂😂

That does happen, so yes charging with a gas / Propane / natural gas generator is a good backup option. If you charge with a generator at least you save gas because it doesnt have to run the whole time, it just runs to charge the battery up.

Jason, I`m getting a 300 amp hour LiFePo4 battery for emergency air conditioning in my camper. I don`t like making large purchases like this. I see a lot of bad reviews where these batteries were no good or defective and buyers had to pay over 100 dollars to return them. I hope mine works. The charge controllers are expensive. I`m going with a 60 amp MPPT and 1500 watt inverter. I hope I don`t screw anything up. Been studying about it. How big of load do you plan to run? That battery BMS can handle 100 amps or 1300 watts continuous. To pull the full 1500 watts youd need a larger BMS (13v x 100a = 1300 watts max). If you don't plan on maxing out to the 1500 watt level you should be okay. It's hard to tell the reliability of any "non brand name" lifepo4. If you worry about build quality or how long it will last, Will Prowse has torn down many brands of Lifepo4 batteries so you could go through some of the options he has torn apart to find the best build quality for the money.

The Chins can do 200 amps. Maybe I should get thast. Just don`t want to get stuck with garbage and a giant fee to return it.

@@baneverything5580 Ampere time seem to do well for the cost. Chins is slightly less expensive. I think with a small load like that, around 500 to 600 watts, you'd be fine with a 100 amp BMS model. It would be nice to 'future proof' yourself and have a 200 amp BMS though.

I don’t understand most of the lingo or numbers here, about solar/power stations : I dipped my toe into “this world” only to go camping with a 12v compressor fridge . I bought a Jackery 500 and an off brand 100 watt folding solar panel. The fridge pulls 53 watts at the start up/ chill down and then backs to 45 watts. I found the jackery only lasted like 5-6 hours. Im disappointed. And it just plain turned off -/ on a fridge. And it pretty hot out there ! You said this unit does not turn off. Is that because it’s a different battery ? Where did I go wrong in my car set up (?), portable plug & play was important to me.

You should get at least 15 hours of runtime on that Jackery 500. I haven't tested the Jackery 500 personally but maybe it's shutting down from being to hot? Is the power station getting plenty of airflow? How hot was it? All power stations can overheat if they get locked in a hot car with no air flow.

Definitely better than the Oukitel since it does not have the automatic shut off. Otherwise the same machine as far as i can tell. Pretty sure they came out of the power tests at the same percentage. Great in-depth review as always.

Looks like someone made the fix and slapped a different label on it. I have the original Oukitel. I'm happy with it so far but I've spoke to several people who had issues with their units that where also part of the original Kickstarter campaign. I guess I got lucky 🤞.

well, since no one in the industry seems to be close to 100% of their advertised rating, it'd be a pointless marketing disadvantage to show such honesty. However, if they advertised it as 1900 Wh it'd handily make the cutoff with 83%, and if they advertised it as 1800, it'd win the rating handily with 87%, for a great showing on the chart. In the end I guess what matters is not what they say, but what you know you're getting.

I have this one.i had bought 4 power stations.this one charges fast and ups and my coffee make say it run at 200 watt but on the bottom it say it's higher but on 700 watt generator it uses 14 watts nothing running but say almost 700 and goes half way dead in just few minutes.

Hi Jason, I bought one of these units and started using it a couple of days ago. Now, it will not charge via AC and the thermal protection icon is on. It is not that hot and in a well ventilated spot. It is currently 84 degrees here in western Washington, the unit is now useless. I let it cool for quite a while and still nothing, Any thoughts?

I wish that was an option, it always wants to max out the charging and pull 1100 watts. You can charge it solar using DC Charging like solar panels or car charging. You could use an AC to DC power supply to charge it slower off the DC input, maybe a 36volt 10 amp power supply would charge it from wall power at 360 watts.

I've had one of these for almost a month. For long term testing I have it connected permanently via the AC inverter to a mini-fridge that draws 45 watts when it cycles on. Sometimes, but not always, it shuts off after (??) hours while unattended overnight. To alleviate this I've plugged in a small nightlight to another outlet. One behavior that I've never seen you discuss is what happens to these things when a solar panel is left plugged in overnight. Again, sometimes, but not always, the P2001 will beep an alarm every minute or so, and you can hear a solenoid switching on and off when the panel is providing 0 watts input. This ceases immediately when you unplug the Andersen connector. I'm curious to understand what's going on, but didn't see anything in the P2001 manual. Lack of bi-directional USB-C is a bit disappointing. Overall I'm satisfied with the purchase, but don't consider it the Holy Grail. I continue to search for power stations of any size that have all of the right features for me.

Each one behaves differently if solar panels are plugged in overnight, it depends on the power station. The Bluetti power stations just say 0 watts, I have seen a few that click on and off a relay because it senses something plugged in but there's no power to charge it. Some have beeps/warnings as well. Most simple thing to do is to unplug it after the sun goes down.

@@Aethalops if you purchased one of these around the same time as his give away video, like i did, then you may have gotten a defective unit like i did, it should not shut down unless the battery is depleted. mine did, so i contacted customer support and they got it repaired for me, several folks have had a defective unit from around that time frame so if you still have it, it may be worth contacting customer support and letting them know your experience.

I'm looking for more information on this behavior also. I bought one this week and it makes clicking sounds as soon as the sun begins rising, I have not unplugged it because I bought it for continuous solar use. If while its doing that, I press and hold the main power button, it will stop and usually begin charging at 2-6 watts until the sun rises more and gets more power. It seems to shut itself off each day with no load connected, but I honestly haven't been home with it all day to see exactly how it behaves. I need to see if it ever fully powers on if I don't turn it on in the morning when it starts clicking. Even if it does, I may need to find a way to keep it from going to sleep, so it won't make noises. 99% of the time its those clicking sounds.. although I was doing something with it and got it to beep like other people described. I might have tried powering it off with solar connected.. I'm not sure. But anyway, I'll continue prowling around for other people's solar experiences and hopefully find a way to use it hassle free. Ideally, I'd like it to charge automatically and not wake me up lol

Without using the sun you'll need to have some other DC power source. Anything that puts out 12-48volts will charge it up. Then you plug in the AC charger at the same time. Then you'll get around 1500 to 1600 watts input.

If you want your fake solar to come from AC power instead of DC power, then purchase a AC to DC power supply and plug it into the DC Charging port and you'll dual charge. A 40 volt DC power supply would work well.

regarding the advertised capacity, ideally it would be advertised as a 1500wh unit, and therefore folks would delighted to have higher than advertised, instead folks will be less than that even if's actually 2000wh in cells. despite the advertising, my power station only came with an ac cable and not the others. i actually had to return my first unit because it was malfunctioning, randomly turning off and on / beeping. both of my power stations only came with an ac cable. my replacement still has issues, as it over heats and shuts down, i was able to find this by placing a fan on it, and it continued to run with out issues, so that is 2 units and 2 strikes, i will have to return/repair/replace this one too. anyone else that has purchased this unit, please leave a comment about your experience.

ok update on my experience with my unit after finally getting it repaired and returned to me and the experience. customer support was good, it always took over night to get a response most likely due to the customer support staff being in china. once we made the diagnosis on my second unit, they sent me a return label and my unit was shipped to PA and sat their for about 10 days while they repaired and tested my power station. it is good that they have a location here in the us to be able to address these situations. i know based on the reviews i read on amazon and the customer support that at least a few of these defective units made it out to customers. if your power station shuts down or beeps unreliably, contact their customer support team, they will get you sorted. the power station now works reliably and i have not had any issues with it again.

Just wondering if that is common with all these new portable power station solar generator companies. I love the specs on this one and seems like a good product for van application where I'm trying to power most loads off of 12 volts DC.

Help me understand how to use the usb-c port for charging a computer. What cord would I need to plug into the unit and to my computer. I know very little about electrical technology, and I wouldn't want to fry my chromebook.

If your laptop uses a USBc to charge it, this power station USBc output will charge it. Most newer laptops can charge with USBc, older laptops don't.

as long as you get a USB-C to USB-C 100 watt rated cable with good reviews, and make sure you read them, as sometimes the reviews are about something else not related. you can plug in the USB-C from the power station into the same port that you would use for the power brick that came with the laptop. if you are concerned about this, just plug the power brick into the ac inverter outlets and that will work well too.

You should calculate the $/WH based on the actual tested capacity. That way whether it meets that 85% efficiency or not, you're still comparing the usable $/WH that matters.

I was just asking because on another video, a person charged this item with a champion dual fuel generator and indicated the supercharge feature was inoperable from a gas generator… The generator he used was 4000w…. So maybe something is wrong with the feature or only supercharge is available through a wall outlet,,, kind of a bummer because this thing is gonna be needed the most when a wall outlet is not available… thanks for responding

@@zodaguado6655 I took mine camping last year twice and I was able to charge off a 2000w inverter generator both times. So if it's an inverter generator is should work, probably not the traditional style genny. A 1000w genny is also too small.

Can anybody clarify the solar DC input max values? Their website q&a states per below. Q: What kind of solar panels are suitable for? Are these voc or vmp 's? Why 15 amps with higher voltage and 10 amps with lower voltage? A: The voltage of the solar panel is between 18V-48V(18-30V/10A，30-48V/15A), which can be used to charge FFpower 2000W.

16:40. I really think you should also grade on whether the power station has a UPS feature. This is a MAJOR feature, and provides a lot of *continuous* value beyond simply the basic power delivery functionality (which may only be useful when you're camping or traveling etc). Another item that should be included in your grading is cell chemistry and cycle life. LFP is a much more desirable battery than NCM for example, both for cycle life as well as safety and robustness.

I think if you are going above the $ 1000.00 mark you should be thinking of buying a better one and not maybe waste your money on a budget model 112 volts AC is not a killer but like you said it's a budget inverter. I'm continuing to build my 2400-watt setup in my camp trailer and I am mainly interested in 12 volts but I do have a 600-watt inverter for incidentals. I would want a power station that would do better than 75% for the price.

Less than 1.5kWh on a battery advertised as 2kWh is just not acceptable. I wouldn't accept anything less than 100% capacity in a DC test especially at such a low C rate. Very disappointing. You should not ever accept 85% in a test like this. The fact they only promise 2000 cycle wih a LiFePO4 pack tells me these are not high quality cells. Lots of negative signs here.

No power station I've tested has ever made 100% capacity, they usually get around 80% to 90%... Only a few get less, like this one. 48 volt battery, conversion down to 13.2v, there will be some conversion loss there.

@@Jasonoid I'd understand that for an AC inverter test. But you absolutely should in a low C rate DC test like you did here directly thru the XT60 port. Also this is absolutely not a 16S pack inside. For LiFePo4 , 13.2 would be it's native voltage during a majority of the discharge curve. There is no buck converter in there supplying 12v power. To build a 48v pack with only a 2kWh bank is highly unnecessary and not cost effective. What you did here is equivalent to a 0.2C DC discharge test. There is no reason why you should have lost 500Wh to whatever type of overhead it had. There can only be 2 things happening here. One is the cells they are using is used or low grade. Second would be there having massive inefficiencies in the DC circuit. If you loss 500Wh to buck converter inefficiencies, it would be hugely unsafe to use this as all that power lost in the circuitry will dissipate off as heat and something is going to eventually melt or catch fire. I believe it's the first. The manufacturer used low quality cells and up-rated their capacity so they can charge more. Happens a lot in small power banks but usually not these big ones.

I don't even want to know what would happen if you did an AC capacity test. You'd end up with probably around 1.2kWh for a pack advertised as 2kWh! 😖

It does weigh less than other similar lifepo4 power stations (AC200P, Energizer PPS2000). I'll tear it down in a future video so we can see the cells and build quality. I have given them pretty strong feedback about improving future power stations.

It has 6 AC outlets, but yeah the tested capacity wasn't the best.
