Great review! 👍 As you set the time base to 200ms, the data collection time is about 2.8s, so the FFT refreshes slowly. if you set the time base to 1us, at 50MHz Frequency , it will update fast. 😀

Thanks! The Uni-T UPS1204 is a most impressive instrument. 💫 Harmonics is a real concern on the factory floor. VFDs can cause many hours of hunting down either bad or poorly installed units. It is not enough to check voltage and current on VFDs and inverters. Better scope-multimeters with a harmonic and PF mode is my wish. Because the line harmonics might cause dirty line power and overheating other devices? PS. I just downloaded KiCad 8, it adds the ability to import full projects and libraries from EasyEDA. 💥 Great video.

Thanks so much for this feedback! Your generosity is much appreciated. There are nice meters like the Hioki and the KPS that filter out the noise so you can see what you get with and without the filter. Hioki lets you change the freq for the filter.

Eddy, Is it possible for you to do a current low cost oscope FFT comparison. And focus on Audio frequency measurements. Harmonics in audio amps. ETC. I currently have a Siglent Technologies SDS1202X-E which is great but it does not really have the latest in markers or a list. Also, compared to a spectrum analyzer it is a little cumbersome in terminology. The Siglent FFT you currently have is 8 year old. I'd love to see what is available now... By the way loved your advise on the Southwire DMM. I have two for $60 each... Thx, Ben D. Montville NJ

Thanks Ben!! I appreciate you! That Southwire meter is awesome - right? I think this scope is a great example of what is available today. I agree the Siglent is long in the tooth;) The Siglent is nice but not so easy to use as this Uni-T is;) Is there a price range that you have in mind.

@@KissAnalog Eddy, thanks for the quick response. I appreciate that. I've been a bit busy and honestly I'm not used to you guys actually getting back to me. So thanks for that. Yes the southwire is my MAIN meter. I really put it thru its paces. The only gripe I might have is its impedance is not 10meg like most as its more like 8meg as tested on my insulation resistance tester. I realized this when I was testing for 600v and I got something like 260v. The I put my Kaiweets (which I got because of your review also thank you) and that read 300v. After a review, I was in series with a 10 meg resistor and I realized I was dropping the voltage but the discrepency made me test the meters themselves... That said, I was hoping I could find something in the lower cost scope with a nice FFT in a range of like 150 to $200. The ElPaso Amp guy has an 8 year old video showing the FFT on an older Tektronics SDS 1002 which looks like a real contender and those are not too much on the used market. I just don't know if that would compare to a modern device. I wish someone would focus on a device for the audio work. There are some software solutions but then you need sound cards bla bla... If they can make a tiny SA why can't they make a low freq tiny SA from 10hz to 100k with a RBW down to 1hz and have some speed??? I did spend some bucks on an HP 8560a which goes from 50hz to 2.9ghz but this really does not cut it for true audio work. It cost $470 and I have an opportunity to return for free which I might do although I'm sure it could find some use aligning am and fm radio.... Any thoughts I'm always open.. And please keep it up... Love your work!!!

Please clear your desk and start a project because this is 40 mins of talking about a scope nobody cares about any way, its a budget entry level scope like all the others and we know what they can do. You have been asking why the channel doesn't grow and its because you don't do anything like projects with breadboards and build PCBs stuff like that which will grab interest. Your a diamond guy Ed thats clear for all to see but your videos have no content at the moment, I mean 60hz noise, mains cables and scope specs are dull as dish water. If you want to talk about FFT then talk about how to read the data not what the scope can do and if you do the math with an '8 BIT Scope' your cant actualy see much below -48dB anyway !! I want the channel to Grow !!!!!!.....cheers.

Thanks so much. Not everyone has your knowledge, so I'm really drilling this in. I also am getting soooo bored of this - but I'm going to do one more to wrap it up - and then we will know what a low freq switcher power supply will look like. And then we will jump to the PFC converter and move forward. This is the 100 and 200 classes in university - but the 300 and 400 are coming:) I think I have to do this from what I see in the comments. I want everyone to be caught up - so just one more video ;)

Kinda unfortunate the product was released with something not tested & working properly. Understandable in that the math is complex. I guess it points to the way the programs & their algorithms for this to run on the final product have been written. These days manufacturing such equipment you just have to put everything through a live simulator almost as you go to test everything otherwise you end up with flaky stuff like this & disappointed customers!

Thanks for your feedback! Yes, but honestly - many scopes - especially new releases have some issues that are later corrected by firmware updates. I think many of us remember the days when Microsoft Windows seemed like a testing environment to weed out the issues - so many thought we were Beta testers. Recently I asked for a new Tektronix that had won some awards (but later when I looked into this I couldn't see where the awards came from;) and this had major issues (a $27k scope). It took a few months but they made the corrections. My Siglent has a flaw in the FFT that will never be corrected because they came out with the -e line and stopped supporting the version that I have - which was the higher cost version.
