This, to me, is the best piece Nobuo Uematsu has ever created. The emotion this piece evoked from me so many years ago was powerful. I felt life, love and loss all in one moment. You had this character who spoke about the future more than any other character, loved pretty much everyone despite their faults, and embraced what the world was about for its value of beauty and life… Then it was all ripped away in a matter of seconds. She knew her destiny, but still chose to pretend that she would go on living. And then she reappears at the end, just to prove that life will always endure so long as we maintain hope. ❤️ This is why she’s become tied in second with Cloud for my favorite FF characters.

This song imprinted itself in my mind for the last 27 years. Breath-taking... This game shaped my adolescence. While other girls my age were losing their virginity, I was staying-up late trying to figure out how to save Aerith. I spent months replaying the game a second time to see if I could save her from Sephiroth's strike. The cut-scene never changed. In this way, it was like watching a Studio Gibli movie(like "Boy and the Heron")... Perhaps more so if they combined the games aesthetics with FF9 (another one of my favorite Final Fantasies). In 7...I leveled-up all my characters to 9999, got both ultimate weapons with the black chocobos. This game taught me the idea of certain things being written into the tapestry of our lives that are destined to happen. Kind of like the mother in "Boy and his Heron", near the end of the movie the mother revealed to her son that she knew she was going to be born and give birth to him, only to die in a fire during his youth. I was pretty traumatized by not having the ability, no matter how strong I got, to save Aerith. I'm hoping the creators of this remake give us die-hard fans the chance to save her as, for me, this was the most brutal death in character-building history of games... Given her kindness, natural beauty and loving nature (and hauntingly beautiful music score). Here's to hoping we get a chance to save Aerith! To me, she symbolizes Gaia (planet earth) itself! Perhaps we need to see her die again to realize we need to give a $h!t about how we care for others and this world?

Same here. Stayed up way too late on a school night just to get her back into my party only to be denied the opportunity for 23 years. I maxed everyone's stats and followed troll hoaxes hoping for something. The best we got was that glimmer of her tending the flowers in the church. I had always tried to rush the flower bed in hopes of glitching the game so I could see if I could just talk to her one last time. Alas, it was never to be. On a subsequent playthrough I remember just standing at the door because I knew she'd disappear when I reached a certain point on approach. I left the system on overnight and just went to sleep. So much has happened to me in those 23 years, including a few tragic events. This game inadvertently prepared me for those moments and I often come back to her theme to open the floodgates periodically. The creators really gave us something special here.

I'm not an expert in the world of final fantasy games, I saw my brothers playing these games when I was little in the 90s. However what I can say is that I felt romance between Cloud and Aerith, the way Cloud acts with her, it's clearly a feeling of affection and protection, for Aerith it's a bit the same, she doesn't want to leave him even if her mother forbids her (because I'm sure she heard her ask Cloud not to approach her anymore) In short, this musical theme is my favorite and which made me cry.

Sure, In OG and the events afterwards she is always that last push, she is always there when Cloud needs her with the help of the lifestream. But what if she lives, Cloud could be so much more powerful. Ignoring lore, the devs of OG confirmed that they planned a way of saving her but they couldn´t due to PS1. Now they can and we will save her as we were always meant to.
