I love how throughout the journey Auron tells Tidus: "You remind me of myself." You know, ten years before. Already knowing that, it's so epic when Tidus shouts "No!" and is about to charge Yunalesca, but right when he shouts, Auron's dream appear and shouts No! at the same time and shows what happened. Instead of telling Tidus not to charge in, Auron just simply showed him his dream. Gives me chills because Tidus would probably do the same mistake as Auron did 10 years ago.

What Squeenix should do to capitalize on FFX isn't crappy sequels. But a PREQUEL with Auron as the main character and his travels. Everyone knows that this would sell like fucking hotcakes.

If they made a prequel and wouldn't let us play Jecht, I would be so mad.

GENIUS! I may have to try get that to them in writing.

Neco The Sergal Chef Sounds like a great idea on paper but I've always kinda hated the premise of a prequel. I honestly believe for square to continually pump out compelling characters, stories and worlds like they have for the past 20 odd years is the product of letting the creative juices flow and not holding themselves back by hanging onto what worked in the past. I realise they are guilty of milking the cash cow but on the whole I think they blow away other companies with the sheer volume and depth of their work. I would however love to see blitzball get a spinoff game but I think neither of us are likely to see anything like that anytime soon.

That was actually the original plan for X-2 before they scraped due to the popularity of the romance of Tidus and Yuna and the director having an interest in pop fashion.
@tachikoma74711 жыл бұрын
Yuna was such a good lead female role. It makes me wonder why Square was so adamant about making Lightning the "first female protagonist in FF ever" when Yuna already held the title in my book.
@swordmeisterguy67526 жыл бұрын
tachikoma747 Technically, Yuna is the main protagonist of FFX. However, the story of Yuna is being told by Tidus in a third-person perspective.

*Turning point!!* I was shocked at this point in the game! I was like "You mean we're going against Yunalesca herself to defeat Sin? This is awesome!" Yuna's little speech really resonated with me too. I loved how she talks about living with sorrow, and continuing to fight through, hoping one day you'll conquer it. We all have struggles in life. The point is to never give up--as long as you are alive you have a chance!

👏🏼👏🏼 I know this comment is very old but it's always true. The characters we play in games, read and watch on TV, movies in a play are reflections of who we are and strive to be. For us to become better versions of ourselves.

If Auron hadn't return to fight Yunalesca and been guarding Yuna and Tidus, Yuna might just do the same thing like his father, Tidus might just do what Auron did before. Auron knew the truth .Yevon,final summoning is all lie.But Auron chose not to tell them from the beginning.He wanted them to see what he saw .And that is his final mission,the only thought that has kept him exist,to guide and to protect Yuna and Tidus til they finish the wish that everyone on Spira shares.

One of my favorite scenes ever in any game. Auron's speech gives me chills to this day.
@manawa383210 жыл бұрын
It is cheesy now, but when I played this game many, many years ago it was a very moving experience -- to watch those characters break away from traditions and religions. It inspired me to question the beliefs that my parents and culture drilled into my head. It eventually contributed to me exploring even more liberating themes. Today my view of the existence of god and outdated traditions is very different thanks to the journey this game and this scene embarked me on.

LMAOOO wtf
@FalconOfStorms10 жыл бұрын
It's not cheesy as far as the game goes, but to reject old things just for the sake of rejecting old things is foolish. Perhaps old things endured because they had validity. This is just a video game story. There is a Creator. His Son did die to give us a shot at eternal life. We have volition, and it is up to us whether we accept the gift of life. And life is a gift, not a right. We didn't create ourselves. History, science, and reason bear this out.

@manawa383210 жыл бұрын
Seraph O. Storms We could have a typical internet athiest/thiest showdown, but the real point here is that culture is a huge influence in people's lives. Video games,movies, comics, tv, and books shape our perspective. FFX holds a special place in my heart, it helped shape some of my views as a kid and I'll never forget this game.

I feel like his speech was brief and to the point...it wasn't about friendship and love and happiness...it was about accepting reality and living and trying to find a way even if there is no hope, or giving up and letting others control your life or just die and give up. I don't think because you found it corny and melodramatic means that America did...anyone who's ever stared death and hopelessness in the face or really got into the game could understand it.

Remember, no one even thought about going against Yunalesca. She was seen as divine. After the war between Zanarkand and Bevelle, only she had a way to control sin, and her help came with a price. Bevelle destroyed her home, her family. By the time of FFX, she was a long dead haunting obsessed with revenge against those who destroyed Zanarkand. And no one could stop her. As payback she made the world her bitch, and to deify what was left of the people of Zanarkand: the summoners.

I just wanted to say - i think another reason why FFX was such a great game was because the story had so many layers. The whole element of religion (Al Bhed's as outsiders who are in the right vs Yevonites of Bevelle) is articulated so well and can be reflected through society today...

Some people might find some of this cheesy, but it's not cheesy because of how relevent it really is. Yuna's speech is perfect, it's great when she says "no one". And Auron is by far one of the best characters ever; when his spirit energy came out of nowhere spewing; "Where is the sense in all this? Braska believed in Yevon's teachings and died for them. Jecht believed in Braska and gave his life for him!" That gets me every time. Strength, quiet, wisdom, and honor. All noble qualities.

It is very rare to see a scene this good in any form of media. Consider yourselves lucky to have seen it. The way the dialogue meshes so well together... Wakka and Lulu overcoming their shaken faith... Auron's epic speech... Yuna's nod at the end as if she's saying "Let's kick her ass"... All in an area as bizarre as this, as the game comes to its climax. Not to mention the boss fight itself is so incredible.

According to the wiki, its a tradition of sorts among Ronin (samurai who refuse to ritually kill themselves upon the death of their lord) to bind their arms like that. It could be a reference to Auron not killing himself or sacrificing himself upon Braska's death.

Yes, that's exactly what I said, as far as they had been told they were destroying Spira's only hope, but they (particularly Yuna) didn't believe that, and so decided to fight Yunalesca and look for a better way to beat Sin. They didn't have a plan at the time, because obviously their entire journey was supposed to end with the Final Aeon, but once they learned the truth they just decided that that wasn't the right way, and so they would find a better one.

It's got a double meaning. The first indeed was because of a Ronin theme, although he isn't one, Auron's personality and designs were based heavily off of both Monks and Ronins. He wears his clothing like that because of that design style. Secondly, although he never shows it, the reason why he's always seemingly holding his arm in his coat is because the bones in his arm were badly broken when Yunalesca hit him. As an Unsent, he's not really affected by it, but he still shows it physically.

No, they defeated Yunalesca prior to learning about Yu Yevon, so they battled Yunalesca knowing that they would probably be ending Spira's only hope for defeating Sin. Then, knowing what they've done, the group returns to Bevelle seeking guidance from Maester Mika, then the fayth. Which the knowledge of Yu Yevon rekindled their hope of defeating Sin permanently.
