FFXI gave me the most memorable experience any game ever has. I remember all the laughs, cries, and rage I shared with others. Especially during quests. There was even drama (inside Linkshells, and feuding over spoils). I remember partying with a Dark Knight and he accidentally threw away his Bomb Core, which was expensive back when. He literally started crying because he had spent all of his gil to obtain it. I knew because I heard him crying through my mic in an Xbox Live party. He then went AFK, telling us that he had to go vomit in his bathroom toilet.

I’m actually trying to find something on FFXI which was better then in FFXIV, but nothing comes to mind. 😅 FFXI was the first MMO of the FF series and it did its best. It was in fact great! @@keiichimorisato98 My expectations were that the world would be as enticing and addicting as FFXI. And at first I was loving it, but then after awhile I would almost have to force myself to play. Force myself to log in. It took me awhile to understand that I was just completely let down by all of these new conveniences that all the casual players seem to love. I had to drag myself away from FFXI, that's how addicting that game was. But the combat, the leveling, everything about FFXIV is just too easy and boring compared to FFXI. Even the supposedly hard endgame content is just you going through your skill rotation, and dodging the occasional mechanic. There is little to no strategy to the combat, no coordination is needed, so yes, I guess my expectations were far too high, and FFXIV failed to meet them in every way..

First, I can understand why some of these Final Fantasy XI players or veterans are throwing a fit about Final Fantasy XI is slowly being forgotten due to Final Fantasy XIV reaching higher, but both games are different very different to their core. Second, I rather be happy to play Final Fantasy XIV and make new memories ,than to complain and not appreciate a game that I can play with my friends. Over all, I know some of you Final Fantasy XI players refuse to move on from a old memory that you keep alive ,but do not forget that there are other people making new memories and making friends just as the time you did in Final Fantasy XI.

I LOVED XI back then. I remember at the end of the day after finally getting a party, you gained a few levels and made some friends from working together. Unfortunately though when I came back, I was sad to see it's completely changed. No one really works together anymore to level and follow the traditional methods; all the older content has been mostly abandoned and people just mindlessly grind for endgame content. It's no longer the journey, rather, just the destination that people care about.

A lot of ppl have no idea how awesomely difficult FFXI was, like every mob in the game from a tiny rabbit could murder you if you didn't have a party backing you up lol. Having to find a camping spot was key so the puller can bring mobs to the party to eat lol for hours I loved it. Also we had to use potions for sneaking and invisibility to get past mobs which added a lot of suspense and thrill, also the Elements would attack if you used magic near them unlike FF14 where they are just placed nearby in hope u accidentally hit them with an aoe which never happens. De-leveling Sadly FF14 is just to easy everything is handed to you but I still play it and enjoy it for what it is but it will never bring me joy like FFXI did it was REAL.

The difference between the two games to me is the story of coarse. Ffxi, story was optional and FFXIV is the main thing you do but I wish FFXIV had the ffxi job leveling, meaning when you seen a level 60 drg or a Sam or a smn, you knew they earned that level. Now it's 70 Sam or dark and you know that are a noob but are they a noob at that class? Ffxi was great because you can see who knew what they where doing just by sub job. FFXIV, you can't do that.

The last time I played FFXI I was known within my Linkshells and other players in that world as "The Onion King". This was because I used my Thief to farm Wild Onions from goblins inside dungeons as my main money source. I made hundreds of thousands, possibly over a million gil from Wild Onions by farming for them whenever I had the time. Which FFXI often gave you plenty of. If you went to an Auction House you could see who the bidder got the items from. Whenever you checked the recent list of Wild Onion my name would be all over it in every place you could visit an AH. I also carried one Wild Onion in my Bazaar worth 1 million gil. Thus I was granted that title. My older brother got FFXI when I was around 8 years old. I was playing better than the 18, 20s, and 30+ year olds. Throughout my lifetime I came back to XI about 4 times. I stopped and never returned around the time Void Watch became big as Abyssea killed the FFXI experience. The people is what made FFXI alive. The majority of people became arrogant, egotistical scrubs because you could get gear that allowed you to spam or do insane amounts of damage all at once inside Abyssea.

Haha your story is awesome. I used to take my Thief out to East/West Sarutabaruta and farm Silk Thread before bouncing into Giddeus with the rare hope of picking up the Monster Signa for when I played my Bard. I can't tell you the number of times people leveling out there cussed me out for bringing a 75 into the lowbie zone to farm. Just like your Wild Onions I would make tons of gil off silk thread - Sometimes in Saruta...and sometimes I'd do a circuit out of Jeuno through Rolanberry into Pashhow and back....It was just something to pass time LFG..but it was every bit worth the 35 million gil I left FFXI with years ago.

Whoaa. People gettin' defensive over they FFXI. Christ, I remember being in a Linkshell with a bunch of dudes playing the female-only Mithra race. Mithra Pride, I believe it was. We called ourselves Manthra. We formed a party in the dunes and could only watch as some farmers kept camping our mobs. Then, when we'd finally get a mob for some shit exp, our healer would d/c, our entire party would scatter around the desert in vein effort to survive as other parties watched and laughed, eventually wipe, and half of us would level-down. The struggle was real. I'm playing FFXIV now. XI will always have a special place in my heart, but I like it here with XIV too. Despite one evolving from the other, you almost can't compare them in how different they are. Almost.

+Shipoopiism Just a few slight corrections here... First, I would argue nobody is getting defensive over FFXI itself but rather how it isn't presented with factual information for a supposedly informative video - hence, there is a purposeful bias at play. Second, that IS how FFXI used to be but it has changed significantly now. Real steps have been taken to lessen the super hardcore elements of FFXI and make it friendly to all players - casual and hardcore alike.

I thought the point of the video was to provide intel on the new ffxiv game that hasnt come out yet (when the video was made). the overall theme of the video was how ffxiv was different to ffxi, it sounded like his audience was towards the players who have played ffxi previously. we can safely assume that both games have changed overtime, by making them more single player friends, quality of life updates and so on.

A couple things that may or may not have been talked about in the comments: Traveling is a lot more convenient in 14 compared to 11. you can teleport to very specific spots in the game in 14 while teleporting was severely limited in 11. This may or many not be good considering your standpoint. For example in 11 i personally enjoyed getting to hop aboard a ferry and there would occasionally be instanced events where the boat would be under attack by pirates or a gigantic kraken. while stuff like that was fun it took a lot of time away from playing and inconvenienced party members who were waiting for you to arrive to a certain point.
@El_Kaichou8 жыл бұрын
+Nataku1209 another feature thats completely different is the exploration aspects of 11 and 14. in 11 you had free range to wander around areas as you pleased regardless of your level. while this was true in ARR, as of HW you couldnt really do that. but i suppose for good reason. another thing im not sure that was mentioned in terms of gathering is that in 11 you had to compete for nodes with other players/RMT bots. in 14 its nice because you can gather more leisurely.

I think that (coming from wow) a realm reborn has an ingenious system, and that it actually spices up an otherwise dull genre. Now I know that the FFXI system was more akin to the first era of FF games, and that it was based on punishment, and reward. People who aren't necessarily into to turn based combat, and in my opinion drudgingly slow progression. See this game as a god send. At least the people I know do.
@NeonPegasus197910 жыл бұрын
Yeah but when everything is on hotkeys and the game is no longer turn based, there's the danger of it turning into another "spam buttons to win" game. Unless they force players to channel the spells for a bit before casting them. Channeling firaga against a fire resistant mob for example, would punish players for making unstrategic choices. then.

I am an American but I also am Asian but I agree completely with what NintendoKore says, so many people I've talked to about games usually say they're in it for the action not the story which is really quite sad, even on some television series, like a good one like The Walking Dead, so many people just watch it cuz they like seeing the action, such as a zombie ripping apart or bashing in a zombies head.
@harombee9 жыл бұрын
***** How is that sad when thats part of the show? its not ok to like a show if its not in the aspect that you like? not everyone has a refined taste for storytelling, some people require visual stimulant apposed to auditory, I really only say that because Story aspects are usually more so "talking" and what people who watch a show literally about zombies is, well killing zombies. maybe if you yourself had a better example that statement would have made a slightly more sense even though I understand you completely. but there is nothing sad about watching a show about killing zombies, and then getting upset there isnt enough killing zombies. right? it is unfortunate that people don't broaden their views though, I agree with you there.

I miss the FFXI lvl 75 Max times. I regret nothing on that 360 Days of my life i spend ingame that times. It was pure MMO Experience with the essential difference at playing. The players came online to play with others. They did not come online to use others to get there loot. Thats basicly the main difference to MMOs today in my opinion. This menubased, clumsy, time sucking blackhole that looks ugly today hit the core of what a MMO needs to be a real MMO. Im proud to say, that FFXI still is the best MMO Experience i had until today. All the others made things fast for the players to get "liked" by them. The player gets a ton of shit thats useless after the next patch. Monthly, weekly and dayly Quests that let keep them comming to a online game that they play alone mostly. Instance Queue Features bring them together to play "coop" Content thats that easy so they can do it alone after 3 patches. After the Instance the people quickly get disbanded and deliverd where they where at begin. You could set up Bots to give the player a even better expierience. The people get selfish with this mechanics. I disagree on the "no useless gear in FFXIV" thing. FFXIV has a massive amount of useless gear. Just have a look in the armory after 2 Expansions and a dozen patches. Every itemlevel raise brought at last a full set of useless gear per played job. FFXI was different. in 75 times there have been a good amount of gear that did not where used all the time right. But you could wear that stuff on multible of the 20 Jobs to get different good gear. I remember Leveling a job and brought the gear for the evening with me to equip it right away then i would hit the level. Planning what gear is needed was a part of the game. not just "equip whats the highest itemlevel". thats the way it works in FFXIV.

I liked a lot of things about FF14, but it just didn't capture that FF11 feeling for me. I think the lack of death penalties was the biggest problem, and this is a problem with nearly all modern MMOs. There's just not enough risk or tension in these games. FF11 had a nice amount of risk and tension, and that was one of the things I liked most about it.

Furthermore, Final Fantasy XIV is NOT the first to bring past enemies back into later games. Remember fighting the Aeons in Final Fantasy X? That's brought into XI in the form of fighting the summons, or world bosses like Bahamut. Gilgamesh from Final Fantasy V was fought in the GBA port of Final Fantasy VI in the colosseum and was brought back into Final Fantasy XII and XIII-2. The four demons of Final Fantasy I were essentially brought back with spiritual successors in the Shitennou/Four Fiends of Final Fantasy IV. Furthermore, Garuda, a notable enemy in Final Fantasy III that practically necessitated at least one Dragoon in your party, has been seen in several games. Stop your petulant whining.

i thought you were pretty impartial to start this (with the exception of calling ffxi slow paced which is more tailored to the roll you play and what you are doing) off but then at about 11 min in I can see how you favor the FFXIV, which is fine. However calling FFXI clunky for people that gear swap to get the most out of their spells or weapon skills I can only assume you played FFXI for a short span of time. You do not HAVE to gear swap, make macros for it use the menu system. But the people who make macros that change their gear 3 times for one thing often do so to maximize what they are doing, weapons skills, spells(cast time, increase duration, lowered resistance, increase buffs) and minimize others, like cast times, down time, damage taken etc. can you sit there with one set of gear, yea, is it most effective... probably not, but is there a single set of gear in FFXIV that does everything you want? does one set of gear give you PDT, MDT, Fast cast, increased song duration, give an additional buff, increase weapon skill, increase attack damage, more mp regen, more hp regen, more mp more hp? So i feel by taking away your ability to gear swap in FFXIV is a means of limiting as well, personal thought on that though. Also, you were talking about how fast paced and on the fly FFXIV was, and please correct me if I am wrong... do they still put little red dots on the ground where you should not stand? like when the boss casts somthing thats going to do major damage? Well in FFXI you had to learn that all from doing it. Did you know that if a goblin ready's a Bomb Toss you could make him drop the bomb and kill himself just by backing up and running at him at the right time to make him drop it, or you could voke it from behind and he might toss it over his shoulder? How about Gaze attacks, for example Tauri use a Gaze attack called Mortal Ray. if you turn away from the mob when he casts this you wont get Doom... very useful to know but they don't give you a red fan in front of his face to let you know you have to pay attention to either chat or watch the mob for what he does, or die because of it. There is always more and yes there have been a lot of just bring more stunners to kill this but a lot of fight now steer away from that. Did you know that Warrior in FFXI was originally a tank job, and Nin was not designed to be a tank job, but people find ways to utilize the jobs different then what the developers perceived. I like how you contradict yourself by first saying that there is not that square or cube of classes where you have tanks damage dealers, healers and supports but then say and in final fantasy XI there were lines those lines where skewed because some classes could pretty much do anything and you could go any subjob you could be put a ranger subjobs as nin and go ninja/ ranger that did a lot of damage So I find it funny that its okay to use your term "stream line" people in FFXIV into oh you are the tank you the healer you the dps, but not okay to say oh hey PLD/war = tank, PLD/Nin

+sarenity86 Using gearswap and macros etc in xi is obviously the superior action, but the funny thing is...if you don't do any of that in xi and just select abilities manually from XI's menu...it's still far less clunkier than trying to switch hotbars all the time in 14...and you have far more variety at your disposal than you do in 14

People are so defensive. He's giving his opinion on the two, he prefers FFXIV. If you prefer XI, then play XI. Personally I didn't really like XI very much. It was a pain in the ass until I found a small group of people who would party up and we'd farm for 5 hours and I'd gain maybe 1-2 levels. Honestly I've found that FFXIV was a lot more accessible to me. I could just go out and level up by myself until I had to do a dungeon/trial.
@Abysia8 жыл бұрын
Accessible is just a nice way of saying dumbed down. This guy is typical of the modern "gamer" who only cares about instant gratification and very simplified gameplay. FFXI is about adventure, and there is plenty of content at all levels. FFXIV is a theme park MMO as generic as it gets. Race to max level and jump on the gear treadmill. It's WoW, but without any of the difficulty.

Pray tell, what does not having to search for a proper party for hours to even kill some mobs of your own level have to do with intelligence? Besides, with trust one can say FFXI has dumbed down as well by that logic, you literally can make a party of NPCs and solo everything now in there as well. What does having a proper map to read and use so you don't run around getting lost for hours have to do with IQ? One STILL needs to be able to read a map, no? On top of that, ANYONE, even a Harvard graduate would HAVE TO learn an area by heart if there were no proper maps or directions given, and anyone CAN eventually get familiar with their surroundings, but who in their right mind enjoys getting lost for hours and dying because they ventured into an area they shouldn't have (but had no way of knowing yet, intelligent or not, it WILL happen to a player with NO guidance from other players in FFXI). Forcing things down people's throats by making them learn the hard way by making their time feel like a waste because all they render after running around for hours are severe punishments has nothing to do with stupidity or intelligence, it's just plain out ungratifying, cuz it'll happen to ANY new-no-friends-giving-guidance-player in FFXI, whether they're smart or not. Yes, if they draw their lessons from such experiences or not, is another thing, but if a dumbass in FFXI won't learn from dying by those high-level mobs in that area they wandered off to when they got lost, then they also WON'T understand/learn that a monster that shows it's 20 levels higher in FFXIV is gonna one-shot them even if it did happen before. So, please explain... how is FFXIV dumbed down exactly? Because players don't suffer terrible repercussions in that game for doing things they COULD NOT EVEN KNOW was wrong until they did it? A person who is stupid won't learn either way, whether it is through experience, or having it spelled out for them, and a person who is smart will, but they've still wasted a LOT OF time to learn what they had in really aggravating ways in FFXI, and that is WHY FFXIV is a lot more accessible because regardless of being smart or stupid, people generally don't like that 'fuck you and just waste 7 hours to figure out where to get your next quest' in this time of day. But let's be realistic and look at it the way it is. Back when FFXI came out people did not have many choices like we have now. It was the way games generally were, and if you didn't like it you could kiss being able to play an MMORPG goodbye, so most people merely dealt with it, exploring is fun, but no one fricken liked getting lost for hours when they actually TRIED to get something done, no one liked losing exp, leveling down etc. Liking that? No, it wasn't liked in the moment, is merely "liking that NOW," and it's all just because of nostalgia. It's like a grandpa saying "You wussies, back in my day, we didn't have cars, we had to walk till our feet were all blistered." It has nothing to do with that having been fun, but because it simply evokes all the other good memories grandpa did have because now he's in a wheelchair with a bad hip and back then he could walk and he was young and had his life ahead of him. And same goes for FFXI players saying they love that time wasting punishing crap, it's only because it's nostalgia, it reminds them of the fun times they DID have back then in FFXI that made it worth their while. Plus, and you can deny it but I know it's true, both the FFXI players and grandpa that complain and/or praise the 'hard/good old times" are salty that others have it easier now as well. :P Yes, it was more of an achievement to gain something in FFXI, for sure, just like it was more of an achievement for grandpa to get to another city, which in turn makes it feel much more satisfying if you do level up etc., that appeal is there much more. If I level up in FFXIV I don't even really pay it much heed, honestly. But that's like a poor man being happy with the ability to eat a hamburger after living on maggoty bread for months... doesn't mean eating the maggoty bread was amazing, you catch my drift? Imo, FFXIV Is merely up to par with today's gaming standards, just as no one walks anymore to cover great distances but instead we use cars, and any player still needs to use their brain as much as a person driving a car needs to be good at driving. Raids have certain tactics, that if you don't know, you can get wiped easily. Dungeons have different things you need to do as well to proceed, even mini-bosses in there have certain ways to take them down. If you don't utilize your skills well and know what to do and when you are still gonna suck in FFXIV. If we're gonna talk actual needs-to-use-brain combat in an MMORPG though, then both FFXI and FFXIV have missed the bus on that. I'm talking combat like Age of Wushu has, or even Mabinogi, where certain skills overpower other skills but can get overpowered or blocked by yet another skill, and learning/reading your opponent when to use which, to be victorious. I can go into a high-level dungeon as a new player if I know how to parry and overpower right in those and finish it no sweat in Mabinogi. THAT is because I use my knowledge in combat and apply it. That is when experience in the mind about combat actually really shines and shows. However, in boh FFXI and FFXIV alike, it still basically comes down to gear, level, and numbers (stats and players in party amount). So it's still pretty meathead based in that regard, hence dumbed down for BOTH games, because I simply can not use mere tactics and combat knowledge to solo-slay a monster that's 20 levels higher than me in either one of the FF games. So essentially, if we are gonna look at it in a VERY black and white way, as the first replyer to this comment stated so... ahem... "prudently" about FFXIV. "Race to max level and jump on the gear treadmill," if we go by that standard then in turn one would have to say about FFXI "Crawl painfully slow to max level and jump on the gear treadmill."

I couldnt play ff11 because it was obvious the developers only wanted money so they: - make characters move a slowly as possible -waiting for a party to open took an eternity (many times i log in to valkurm dunes to realize its empty just to log off again) -Enemies can hit you no matter if they are in range or not (facepalm) - every mission involves key items that take hours to get -most missions dont reward in gil -quest givers arent labelled so have fun wandering around at snails pace - Delevling (gone but not forgotten) - Every character looks the same -In general the most often thing I saw while playing game was either a character standing waitiing for something to happen (party invite or tank pull) or a character on auto run moving at a cripples pace across a wide expanse. I shattered the disk when I quit because the game was literally the most tedious experience I've ever had playing a game. Now Im on 14 and its the best game ever because the devs took out all that tedium that they KNEW was only in the game to milk subscribers...I'm thinking they needed money to fund 14....look at 14 they don't GRIND SCAM so they mustve just needed money to make the game they wanted which is 14

+Destin Gray exactly. targetting things is a mess in 14 when lots of players together. The whole interface is badly designed in 14 too imo. For exmaple lets say you are on pld, you can shield bash or shield swipe for example, but have to wait 3-4 seconds if you just used another ability before it...because they are on shared timers known as a "global cooldown" system. most retarded thing ever imo, so people claiming 14 is more fast paced and reactionary are full of shit. Also I just always feel like I have much more variety at my disposal in XI with every job, and those abilties are far more useful. The cross class abilities in 14 are mainly all useless, and most of the abilities in general like rampart/fight or flight/sentinel etc...all they give are 15 seconds...oooh awesome...NOT. What about cure as a cross class on a paladin (the only healing spell it can get for itself)? well at 1300hp a cure does 100hp....whats the fucking point of that?

FFXI was "difficult" where killing/achieving things were harder. compared to FFXIVARR it shows you exactly where to go. u spam your keys to activate skills. in any random order aslong as the monster is dead. one of the main missions Ifrit fight... why the hell is it so easy all u do is spam your skills to kill him then when the spike comes up u attack that right away then back at ifrit to kill him?? so stupid. theres no challenge to the game whats so ever. everything is guided for you. and the fighting is boring spamming every second. no thanks. i gave up after i reached level 20sh

As someone who started with FFXIV before trying FFXI, my experience with it was something. I'm really enjoying it and get a lot of the appeal that it has. In fact, I wished a lot of their features existed in FFXIV. However, the game is very esoteric. I have to look up at the wiki to get anything done, because the game does not tell me anything. It takes forever to get anywhere on a map, all items and equipment costs a fortune, most of my time is spent on grinding the same monsters for exp and if your unlucky to get caught by one strong mod, it will chase you to end of the earth. Look, I get that making things difficult makes it more worthwhile when you succeed (I finished all three Dark Souls games, after all), but most of it is just feeding a massive time sponge. It's an artificial feeling of difficulty, because the pleasure of success is actually relief from hours of tedium. Like I said, I enjoy the game a lot, but it has not aged well. Games are played by all now, not just by those who all the time in the world.

I love seeing all of these massively butt-hurt XI fans going on about how XI should just get a graphics boost instead of them having XIV, yet they all seem to forget that the original version of XIV was just XI with a graphical update and that game did so incredibly badly that they had to take it down and completely re-work it from the ground up. As much as you all complain about it XIV:ARR has gotten about 10 times the playerbase XIV had and is probably quickly encroaching on XI's numbers. XIV:ARR is what the majority wanted.

So, no more menus, everything on hotkeys now? Oh lordy, this does NOT feel like a FF game. I can only hope that they made it so when using one spell, the other spells go on cooldown, or the character has to channel the spell before casting it. Because if neither of these things are true, then why care about enemy resistances when battles degrade into "use all of the skills not currently on cd" fests.
@MinqTheSkinner10 жыл бұрын
There is a global cooldown on all of your spells whenever you use one. If you've played WoW, it's about a second longer than WoW's GCD. It feels very turn based even with hotkeys

Overlord Valvatorez There's a 2.5 second global cooldown between abilities. Plus, even though certain abilities don't run on this global cooldown, they will take up 0.5 to 1 second of "animation lock" where you can't use another skill with it, so you can't just slam your face on a keyboard full of off-GCD offensive abilities and have them all land at the same time.
@harombee10 жыл бұрын
My question, is why would there not be cooldowns? every mmo in existence has cooldowns, and you knew this. FF11 just did it in a way that still made you feel right at home with an FF standard title. I really don;t get ths comment. and im not trolling you i know you said it months ago, im just saying.
@NeonPegasus197910 жыл бұрын
Modai Artisium What I meant to say is that I'm afraid that it wouldn't have realistic cooldowns. Like for example, I use Firaga 3, I could use Blizzaga 3 instantly after using Firaga 3, which would present a risk free experience. But it seems like after using one spell, all other spells go on cooldown, and I'm hoping that pots don't instantly refill HP/MP. Now I want to try this game out, but my current PC lacks the specs I think, and I'm too lazy/cheap to save up for a good enough PC, because as long as I can play LoL, there's not much reason for me to upgrade, and I would likely need to spend about $200-$300 for a good PC.

Personally I would like end game content that makes people want to ragequit because it is so difficult to beat. I have been server-first hardcore raiding on more than 7 different MMOs, as well as diamond tier in LoL, high MMR Dota2 and near the top of the ladder for Street Fighter 4 in the western U.S. However, taking multiple hours to luckily find some fucking scroll to learn a skill does not equate to a hard game. Just because you had hours to spare to find something or farm up in game currency does not mean you are skilled. If you aren't in the 1% of the top of players skill wise, you are just fucking cannon fodder to me.

Loving the videos, especially during this downtime. Question, l'm new to mmo's and played the beta on ps3 with the gamepad. I just got myself a K&M to be able to play and type simultaneously. Would you be able to do a video tutorial for noobs on what keys control what? I'm looking more along the lines of how to talk, yell, write out emotes, hide the UI etc. Also once streaming is allowed, maybe a video on how to customize the UI? Big request I know, thanks for the consideration.

I've played FF11 for over 10 years and it has been the most epic gaming experience EVER. For some reason FF14 doesn't seem to attract me at all. It looks boring and I hate the new combat system. I really wish they could have just upgraded FF11 with better graphics and more jobs instead of having 14. :(

Yeah, I'm butthurt because ff14 sucks donkeys balls.

I believe that's what happens when you dedicate 10 yours of your life to something. Nobody's asking you to change, nor anyone else that's spent their entire goddamn lives on FFXI. FFXIV: ARR is a fantastic game that SE pulled back from the abyss after a horrifying initial relaunch. You don't have to like it, but at least respect the work that they did.

I agree completely, there are a lot of things about FFXI that I loved and it saddens me that it isn't in FF14 ARR, when I first got the airship pass at level 15 in ARR, I was excited to ride the airship, only to be disappointed that it was a small little cut scene and I couldn't enjoy the ride or see the scenery, I loved that in FFXI, and what else you mentioned, also as I mentioned in another post, I prefer FFXI's job system over ARR's any day. ADV jobs start at level 30? how do you learn?

I have played FFXI since beta. I was one of the original 500 people in North America to receive the game installed on a hard drive for PS2, and I'm still playing. I have played FFXIV since beta and which do I choose you ask? FFXI. There, I said it. Come back to FFXI, Tojill & Dakuwaqa are waiting for you.

My friend and I have been contemplating getting back in it, but are reluctant due to being away for so long. Is it still thriving like back then?

Bahamut server has about max 2k people on a day, it's not barren and still has lots of people who play

Certain Classes are needed for certain jobs. Like Paladin. In order to get the Paladin Soul Crystal. You need to be 30 Gladiator and have Conjurer I believe leveled to 15. The job take on the same level as the higher class needed for the job. Example 41 Gladiator equipping crystal would make them a level 41 Paladin. More or less the job crystals just add extra abilities to classes.

First this video needs to be renamed "I hate FFXI and I just want to gush about and go on and on about FFXIV - which screen now looks like WoW and SWTOR". Second, COULD YOU PLSE MAKE. YOUR BED IF YOUR GONNA FILM? It's always a mess. MrHappy1227 is giving. Incorrect info when he says that FFXI is a menu driven game....it's not. You've the ability to make custom macros in a section that allows for 20 books of macros that have 10 lines per book, with 10 spots per line to create the macro. But can't find the macro or the item on the menu fast enough?? No problem, you can quickly type in the command. As far as showing up to an event and you are there to do only one thing.....that is bull. I have 13 level 99 jobs, been playing since 2007 and have never showed up for an event that I did just one thing then stood around with my thumb up my butt. So that is pure bull.....or. that person is a chronic leech. And if FFXI is to slow for you, again you must be leeching or have ADD.......it's up to you to find things to do. I'm always busy. A lot things he compared unfavorably with in FFXI have been change, modified and improved with updates. As far as losing EXP with a death/KO, what's the big deal? You can earn those back very quickly, plus more if you know what your doing. FFXIV you lose integrity on your armor, which means you could end up in the field with no armor, no EXP lost and having to head to town to get your gear fixed. That sounds like a waste of time and a negative to me. This was NOT a comparison between FFXI vs FFXIV. It was a monologue about how MrHappy hates FFXI and him gushing and trying to say that FFXIV as the end all be all game
