Very cool! The louisoix/phoenix marker is probably for Yakitori and the North/East marker is to indicate what the current round wind is

The “point sticks” (点棒 - tenbou ) are used in denominations of 10000, 5000, 1000 and 100 (9 dots - 5 dots - 1 dot - 8 dots) in that order. It’s a little confusing at first but you get used to it ^o^

Sets in China, on average, tend to stand between 33 and 40 mm tall. Japanese sets, on the other side, range between 25 and 30 mm in height. The size this set comes in (28 mm in height) is on the large side for a Japanese hand-shuffled set, as opposed to the (slightly larger) ones, normally used in automated-dealing tables. Island nations tend to appreciate compact objects.

what are the 4 lords tiles for

I don't know how it works under Japanese rules, but in the version I knew (probably from Hong Kong) they granted you extra points if you ended up with them and win.

The flower tiles (those that are stylized as the four lords in this set) aren’t actually used in Japanese Mahjong. But because they make the packaging much more convenient, four of them are included in Japanese sets often as pack-filler and/or decoration.
