Thanks for making this. It's definitely much easier to understand than many other guides and makes the class more approachable. I'm not good at the technical aspect of MMOs so this was really helpful.

Finally I know what you can actually use Pepsis for, one of the big reasons I didn't try Sage when first unlocking because Pepsis looked important but I didn't understand when I would use it. Turns out its useless most of the time, except potentially for correcting a misplaced shield that is about to run out or when you would need it a few seconds later, or for doom mechanics like you mentioned.

It's a shame the game doesn't explain the class like this. The job quests are like "haha here's a dungeon for your first mission where we explain nothing. Good luck". Been wanting to get back into actually trying sage. Thanks for this video 😁

The one thing I had to get use to is how active this class is. Plus, it doesn't do burst healing. More like prolonged healing, because it gives you so much utility. I'm still playing around with it, but I just love the lasers!!
@MeldinX2
@MeldinX2 5 ай бұрын
I found it easier then WHM for some reason. I think when starting out and lower leveled content it's fine to use some GCDs like Eukrasian Progonosis/diagnosis often to prevent damage. Since sage have a harder time to recover when things get really bad and people get super low.

is the potion only for opener or every 2 min burst phase?
@Juliacare
@Juliacare 11 ай бұрын
it could be in the opener, or in the first 2 minute. Usually you then have another potion burst at the end of the fight at 8 minutes or 6 minutes if you used the potion in the pull.

Glad to see a very good player play on controller! How are you targetting party members fast enough while raiding? I use the arrows on the left side of the party list but it feels so slow. Actually i am too afraid to heal in high end content as i am too worried I'll be too slow to spot heal when needed. Any tips on that?
@Juliacare

I have a video coming up about targeting tips soon! A lot of controller players use soft targeting or targeting macros where the macro retargets the boss or specific party members.
@zackfair6203
@zackfair6203 Жыл бұрын
@@Juliacare yeah I use soft target as well. The thing I have issues the most with is rescuing someone fast enough out of a danger zone. It just takes too long to target them. Thanks a lot for your videos though - they are really helpful (especially seeing someone play on controller) and I am looking forward to your targeting video.

EDIT: Watched through the whole video and the language and structure is even worse. Leading with "how to DPS" and explicitly saying "try to avoid doing these" is bad advice. The issue may entirely be one of word presentation, but "try not to use" has bad qualifications. "For the sake of progression" -- so...if it's a clear attempt, heal worse? I go into this further alrady, but holy crap, a few GCDs here or there on the healer is not gonna make the difference. Even if you math out that 10 GCDs from a healer is .1% of a boss's HP, and fights have been not cleared by that margin, I ask how many DPS GCDs, and other suboptimal things happened that easily add up to a full percent difference? You increase your personal DPS so if the fight comes down to .1% to clear or fail, your DPS mattered, and in order to do so you increased the risk of death that would have been the failure tremendously. For reference, ultimate fights have clears (especially world's firsts without the best gear) have deaths and they still clear. Don't ever advertise to beginners, or beginner enough, (majority of people watching that would, or could be misled) that healer is really a DPS with "an extra" responsibility. Healers, your first job is keeping the party alive which is tantumount to prioritizing your healing, mitigations, shields, AND raising everyone else above your DPS abilities. No, I don't mean topping off with a healing spell over using a GCD or anything silly like that. It simply means if people are actually dying (dead, no just losing some HP) you should ignore whether or not THEY messed up and look to what you should be doing more efficiently and effectively. You need to spend way longer ensuring your heals are optimized -- over months if you don't already play the role -- than it takes to optimize your DPS. And the fraction of damage that optimization takes isn't even the difference maker. Here is what I mean: Take anywhere from a 40%-70% damage parse from a healer role comared to a 90%-95%, but look at the clear rate of those fights with double the number of deaths of other players, and increase the amount of time dead players are dead by 50%. On either side of the higher damage, and lower damage you're gonna find failure happens a lot more not because the healer is doing less damage, but because more people died and were left for dead longer. Again, it doesn't matter who's fault it is. Your mentality CANNOT be that if you're to be an above average healer, and absolutely not a great one. There's a reason why healing toolkits are more complex and nuanced in this game for healers, than their DPS kits. I say that because having played this game (off and on) for just about it's entire lifetime, and healing primarily through all of it up through extreme trials through party finder, I have noticed that bad healers (cohealers) is extremely common. It's easy to observe in cohealing situations, and even easier when you play the job yourself, and it's clear what their mentality is when it happens. It's early into the fight, someone dies, and they don't think to even attempt the swiftcast raise? Did they actually think it was worth burning on some GCD offensive spell or are they so slow and bad they don't notice? They are the regen/pure healer, and a raidwide is coming up and they don't press basic buttons using resources they clearly haven't used to get people to safe levels of HP and 1 player gets taken out for it. And I've seen a lot of the back and forth over reddit, which a lot of people look down on less skilled players (if you're on reddit for FFXIV, it's already biased for try-harding in some form) -- but can easily see how people miss the fact that if you're a healer and are so keenly concerned with how a player got their damage, with zero attempt to engage on what the player does or doesn't know/see or have the capacity to learn ... then do your job better. Anything shy of healing a DPS like a tank in a dungeon because they take nearly every optional hit is something you can deal with not because you should, but because you can, and in a different scenario (harder content) it'll be required of you to prog with an imperfect group. I'm not a good healer if I can't move for mechanics and swiftcast + raise a specific target at the same time, or properly choose an AoE oGCD vs spot heal, and still observe if I have space to GCD attack and weave the heals. Yes, that means the job's stress isn't fully under your control. You might be capable of a 99% parse but if players are taking damage that requires a bit too much GCD healing, you may want to back off of that and heal some folks to actually clear the content. If you're not willing to do that then, in effect, you're throwing the scenario -- playing to lose because your pride doesn't care unless you were some standout performance.

@@Juliacare yup, there is is. The healer attitude of believing that if you have cleared some content, you get to say to others what is and what isn’t. Just because I cleared savage doesn’t meant I can’t mess up some light dungeon mechanic; doesn’t give me the right to he lazy in content with others and refuse to heal because “they should know better and I’m executing my role perfectly.” You’re too dumb to realize just because you passed a test someone else hasn’t cared to take, doesn’t make you smarter or better. Here’s my advice to you: delete my comment. Most of what I wrote wasn’t really meant for you to read anyways. It’s an attempt to reguide people to not think their role is DPS with a coincidental heal every now and then. If you don’t want it here, it’s your channel to moderate.

what to do when you get a dum-dum undergeared tank who has no idea how to use a friggin' cooldown and keeps pulling wall to wall even when after the effect of weakness and clearly all resources have been spent on the last disastrous pull? i been a healer since 2.0. carrying garbage tanks is what i do....i refuse to accept the fact there is absolutely nothing i can do. theres gotta be some combination of things i can do to keep the dumbass alive by the skin of my teeth...
@Juliacare
@Juliacare Жыл бұрын
As a decent healer you should be able to raw heal any wall to wall pull above like level 60-70. You can use the limited levelling roulette option to mitigate getting into dungeons lower than those levels.
@MeldinX2
@MeldinX2 5 ай бұрын
A year late but sage has alot of tools to prevent damage. Haima and Panhaima can be used to make the tank survive longer and you also have Kerachole or Taurochole you can alternate between. That and having your regular shields and healing you do will keep most tanks alive even if they wall to wall.
