I was on a call while doing the trial, and asked my friend: "Bro where's red wings? We are almost at the end of the patch, where is it!?" He just told me to wait, and then it happened. I screamed so loud at 3 am and laughing like a maniac. The reason? I've been waiting for this song to play in ffxiv since we both started playing, just awaiting the moment I could hear what they could brew from my favorite game, and they delivered in a silver plate.

@@Neo-Midgar Aside from the Crystal Tower being a hub there's not a lot of FF3 to be seen in ShB. RRb was way more FF3 with its crystal tower raids.

I really wish I could have been there for all this. Long story short, I had to cancel my sub years ago, and my life has been so crazy (especially with the pandemic), that I just haven't been able to get back to the game. The furthest I ever made it was the very end of Realm Reborn, I think. I was getting close to starting Heavensward, and I was looking forward to unlocking Dark Knight and Astrologian. Maybe 2024 will be the year I return, because I hear the game gets downright immaculate once you get past a certain point. And knowing that some of my favorite characters from the series will appear, well... that really gets me interested. Thanks for the info, and we will see what happens.

He isn't the final boss, but rather the postgame boss. 14's story comes in form of expansion, treat each one like a sequel. That's the best way to describe it. The main issues set up from the start ends with Endwalker, and the postgame of it sets up the possibility of reforming the destroyed worlds.

I don't know... it sounds awfully tinny, and there's a couple of moments where I'd even go so far as to say it's off-key.

I think it's 100% intentional. It's not exactly a normal creature we were fighting there. It *has* to feel wrong. Basically along the lines of "You know those instruments. But even those don't feel right". If you wanna go deep into the meaning of it, it even could be the faint presence of Azdaja in Zeromus.

It's a technique to instill a mood that wouldn't otherwise fit the music. Hiding a mood in the undertones. Sometimes it's stronger than not. In this one the red wings were heroic but...something was wrong about them in the original game. Adds a frantic unsureness/unease to an otherwise heroic song.
