I have the most opposite on your video You know whats funny, i played FFXIV so much for so long.... since beta phase of ARR/2.x that im so tired of the stagnant development and focus on single player elements that i have gone back to an old mmo called FFXI.... and not just retail ffxi under yosheeps control.... i went to a private server of ffxi set in 2006. Just thought id share this because theres a group of OG actual mmo XIV and XI players who laugh everytime someone is drawn to XIV and they think its good and makes a video "why ffxiv made me quit so and so".

Just got the credits roll on Shadowbringers, and the story has fully hooked me. Saying a line a character told me back in Heavensward to another brought up emotions. Such a good story.

I can’t believe how good the FF14 story line is omg ..the up and down emotions i got from the end of ARR till EW left me drained emotionally...and I can’t wait to start on my raids, crafting and gathering

WoW refugee here. A year ago I was fed up with Blizzard/WoW, and I finally gave XIV a chance after one of my best friends insisted I try it, and I am so glad I did. No game has made me cry quite like XIV. The story is absolutely brilliant, and by ShB/EW the writers just know how to pluck every heart string you have. It gets dark, but it's beautiful. And there's still excellent raiding, glamour collecting, etc that you'd come to expect in any good MMO.

First: Everyone loves Yshtola. Second, FFXIV is my first MMO. I wasn't even going to play it until my coworker kept hounding me about it, and to be honest, if it didn't carry the name "Final Fantasy" I probably wouldn't play it. But, when I played it, I fell in love with it almost instantly. I love the story, I love the characters, I love the music (but every Final Fantasy has great music). The Heavensward story actually had me in tears multiple times, and I'm slightly tearing up as I'm typing this. I just made it to Shadowbringers, but I'm taking a detour to work on getting my Anima weapon and Eureka Gear. I'm glad my coworker kept hounding me to play, because I absolutely love it.
@Ryno20492 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't have been able to take a detour right when getting to Shadowbringers (especially Eureka 😂). 4.3 onwards is no breaks until the very end. With that said, I could see it being the last spot to take a break when things might slow down a smidge right at the start. I'd say be prepared to buckle in afterwards, though!

First, great video! I'm glad you're having fun in FF14! Second, your wife can TOTALLY play the entire game with just controller :) I play on PC/PS4 with controller only. You just have to play with the settings a bit. Like, I double tap my trigger buttons to access my 2nd hotbar for skills bc that works for me, but my friend who mains tanks has her controller where she holds a button to access the 2nd hotbar. So def play around and see what your wife is comfy with if she wants to give it a go! The game is built with console on mind so it's possible! Im the one wondering how people can M+KB you guys are crazy talented.

get your wife a controller, connect it to FFXIV and blast away. Game is entirely possible with a controller, hells, it's even more comfortable than kb+m in combat. I play in this way for 5+ years, never had any difficulty, cleared savage multiple tiers. additional plus that i can play on PC and PS5 with no difficulty when switching. Only problem is - default controller settings in FFXIV for some reason are dogshit. Look up some basic guide and you will see how flexible it is

Agreed. Definitely prefer controller over mouse and keyboard.

I played both FFXI and FFXIV on PC with a controller. Literally the only games I play with a controller. Everything else I prefer a mouse and keyboard. And it's weird because once my controller died in the middle of a dungeon and I felt like an office boss in the 50s whose secretary was out sick and I was trying to type out a report on a typewriter just to get through the dungeon. Completely lost without a controller, but only on FFXIV.

The only 2 MMOs I ever enjoyed were UO and SWG. I had a butcher in UO who never went into combat 'cause my mate who's PC I used to play at the time used to get me to sort out his stuff. SWG was the one though. I was an entertainer who visited every city w/o ever getting into a fight and just soaked up all the ambience and war stories from people who would tip me for playin' w/e whilst my alt who was a fat dude in a cloth nappy danced around like a nutjob. Great times which have never been replicated.

FFXIV is my first MMO and FF game. My elder sister was more drawn to MMOs growing up, such as Wizard101 and EVE Online, but I have yet to get her interested in FFXIV. Meanwhile, I was never really interested in MMOs growing up cause I thought the concept of paying a monthly sub to play a game was stupid and didn't have the confidence to convince my mom to pay for a mmo sub like my sister did. But what eventually pushed me to playing FFXIV was actually winning the Steam version of the starter edition from a streamer (Bruce Greene, who frequently gives away a copy of whatever game he played that stream at the end) and once I gave it a try, I was sold. Just wish I had more prior MMO experience, like my sister does lol
@samends88632 жыл бұрын
After 7 years Yshtola is not cute anymore. Its more like the annoying Sister you can not get rid of. xP And WoW scared the crap out of me after meeting a girl 16-17 years ago who said "i wanna quit wow." and the next day "my boyfriend gave me this expensive mount (or pet or whatever) so i cant quit, but im so happy!!" I was somewhere between 14 and 16 at that time, never heard of wow before but man, this gave me a bad feeling. Anyways, im really glad you found something that makes you happy.

Any WoW refugees now in FF feeling some regret when you used to say "why play FF when WOW is the best MMO?" Because I certainly did, and now Im regretting those moments when I used to preach to my friends encouraging me to play FF during stormblood that WoW is just the best MMO. Man how stupid I feel now after I've started playing. I just can't believe how much I was missing out. I mean don't get me wrong, Wow is still enjoyable most especially PVP (which I think WoW has a better footing here than FF) but for every other aspect? FF just does it better: from story telling to the community. Tho I can't say for sure with regard to hardcore raiding because upon writing this comment, Im merely at post Stormblood MSQ. I'm just happy that I got into FF, and hopefully Blizzard can learn something from it

I played OSR back in 2004-6, and switched to WoW after but kept going back to Runescape, soon as FFXIV came out in 2013 though I never looked back at WoW, and sometimes even play XIV and OSR at the same time lol. You'll love the gathering and crafting, if you haven't started it yet. At end game it keeps being chill but you can really put a lot of time into being an "omnicrafter" making your own gear, furnishings for your house or apartment etc. If you want to take it easy and slow when leveling your crafting and gathering, you can skip the quick catch up systems they put in through the expansions and just focus on doing Levequests and stuff, which was how most people primarily leveled their crafters originally, it took me about 2-3 months to grind them all out back in 2013, could probably do it way faster now. No matter what though I hope you have fun with it!

by the time runescape came out, I was already on my 3rd MMORPG, FFXI. Around my 20th online based game over all if I count all genre. I'm so damn old lol. Of all the MMORPG I have played over two decades, I consider FFXIV to be very special. It has that FF11 online vibe but much more accessible. More condensed that anyone can obtain whatever status they desire. While in FFXIV, I feel like I am going through a 2nd renascence of MMORPG. The game achieved the impossible balance of casual or hardcore. You can play as casual or hardcore as you want. It doesn't punish you for doing either. Average gamer age is coming closer to their 40's and this is how MMORPG should be designed imo.

no other mmos will ever make me feel like the first time I played wow from beginning all the way to WOTLK expansion. then TERA came out and then there's a crave for new MMOs, new expectations... nowadays mmos sucks so bad (it's all about the cash shop) I don't even play anymore and also can't get back into wow because it's so outdated. FFXIV is amazing BUT it sucks that there's no pvp like wow does with the faction system. (again, the expectations). Sad that I can't even get back to doing what I love doing anymore and that's playing mmos.

As someone who has been playing XIV since ARR came out, and has skipped every single bit of quest dialogue and cutscene, there is still plenty to enjoy and do in XIV without needing the story. I understand that many people do like it, but I find it a bit tiring having to constantly tell people that it is in fact very possible to enjoy XIV without the story.

@@KadaiGaming if you're used to playing on m+kb the controller setup will take time to get used to, but I know some people who raid on m+kb and use a controller just for stuff like gathering so they can sit back while doing casual stuff. For someone who has more muscle memory for controller, it's going to be much easier to pick up. I've even seen clear POVs for some of the hardest content in the game where the person was clicking all of their skills, and doing just fine. Whatever's most comfortable for you is going to be the best control scheme; the game does a really good job of easing you in over time no matter how you play
