13:50 I’d like to add something to this: If you see him preparing giga slash and you’re dead and someone rezzed you, WAIT UNTIL HE’S DONE. If you try to revive while he’s still showing where he slashes, you will have zero notice of where he’s going to hit because your screen was black. Better to wait and take the rez after he is done using Giga Slash than to die again and take an instant Brink of Death.

something similar to this happened to me. someone started the fight before everyone was in the room, I loaded in and died to the giga slash I had no chance to see.

The AAEV doing invincible to shield AAHM while it tries to do Mijin Gakure is a neat touch of FFXIV given the Omega model reuses. AAGK using skillchains is peak XI alongside all the AAMRs weaponskills.

Thank you so much for explaining those Shadow Lord mechanics for us. I went into Jeuno blind last week and while I handled the first three okay-ish, Shadow Lord was a nightmare, I just couldn't wrap my head around everything and died multiple times. Seeing the actual explanations and patterns like this instead of boots on the ground will help me a lot when I go back in. :)

Even without any connection to FFXI I enjoyed this quite a bit. Dawntrail's amazing fight design still keeps going! I'm also glad to get more aoe scenarios, maybe one day this idea of 2+ enemies can become a nice and creative trial or raid!

As someone who had FFXI as my first MMO experience, playing from NA release until sometime towards the end of Aht Urghan and not playing at all since, I did get pangs of nostalgia and memories come back from some stuff in the raid. Probably the more obvious stuff. The Jeuno music, the Dynamis mobs, the Sky automaton mob things, Hundred Fists. By the way, Sky looked amazing in XIV's engine. It's sad that it will never be a true zone.

Doom Arc hits like a truck. My group's dps was super low due to many, many deaths. Doom Arc came up for the second time, there were 20 of us alive. We grouped up, did our mits, and 2 ticks of the stack marker wiped out everyone but the tanks, the third finishing the job.

In my first run we had all 3 groups use heal lb3 for all bosses and it actually was necessary. During the last boss we were down to 3-5 people more than once but we goddamn did it. Healing through that shit was one of the most fun experiences i had as a healer in quite a while. I really had to use every resource to get through it. I dont know how many resses i performed but it was at least 30 throughout the whole raid

Crystalline Thorn is the mechanic I can't seem to get down. I understand what I'm supposed to be doing but if I move even slightly, the arrows point in the complete opposite direction of where I intend to face them. Advice?

The skillchain animations are my favorite detail. Blew my mind when I noticed. Something silly I noticed is that for Tachi: Gekko the Galka uses one of SAM's AoE move's animation since Gekko in XIV doesn't make you spin and jump like in XI. But what's even funnier is that in XI, Galka don't spin and jump when they use Tachi: Gekko anyway!

Ah yes. My sister and i were healing and luckily in discord to coordinate. We were rezzing, trying to keep our guys up and also hard cast rez other healers lol The most chaotic but awesome (and nostalgic) raid I've played in a good long time. It's great to do these on day 1. Nobody knows wtf gonna happen and usually lots of chit chat and laughter. Lb3 omfg don't know how many times that got used

on a console so I can't use "third party tools" to confirm or deny this... but in the Ark Angels fight, in the final phase when all five are in play. I notice that any skill I had with incidental AOE damage only shows a damage number on the enemy I'm targeting and none of the rest even if they're grouped. Can anyone confirm if they're actually taking damage or did they make them immune past the first target? I've just been continuing single target rotation once I noticed that, but wasn't sure if that was the right call

Doom arc is such a weird ability, I am convinced it was originally intended as a hard enrage. It occurs so late in the fight, can be skipped, and has forever and a half cast time. Even as a soft enrage it doesn't make sense because you're never going to see it a second time. It would have been cool to see a spam cast soft enrage with a damage buff, maybe health gated or something. Either way, it feels like it was conceived as more spicy, then toned down last minute and not really ever properly adjusted for.

That mechanic with the first boss with the three arrows.. that is super wonky, it is very hard to control them with much accuracy.

The trick is realizing that the arrows direction is based off of your position compared to where she is going to jump. I died so many times in that first run trying to figure out how you were supposed to switch the direction of the arrow. Trick really is to be close in when that mechanic starts so you are trapped at an edge and end up in death by default because you have no other choice

Mr. Happy: you should never see beyond the first stack of the Shadowlord’s buff! My first hour of release DF group finishing the fight with 5 people alive and 3 stacks: 😮 I play SCH in 24 person runs and the second I raised someone they were dead again with 10 seconds.

Being a healer for the final boss was a slap in the face to everyone who plays a healer, and I will NEVER que for healer again for that. I was a Rez-bot the entire time, unable to even watch or learn anything that was going on. It's a joke for healers. GG Yoshi-P for shitting on healers EVEN MORE than usual.
