It looks fine, i'm curious to see how well the camera control works mid combat, specially if you have to do flanking bonuses and such

Honestly, I have always wanted a simplified version of Final Fantasy XIV and as long as there is controller support, this may just fit the bill for me.

I like playing turn based games on mobile. The interface doesn't feel bad for turn based combat. I tried playing WuWa on my phone and it's kind of rough having your fingers cover parts of the screen for fast paced combat and the lack of tactile buttons makes hitting the right area of the screen iffy at times. Also HSR has 10-15 min yap fests that aren't conducive to bite sized game sessions and it does well on mobile, so might not be an issue for FFXIV.

Back in the early 2000s I was a fan of several mobile games but over time the whole business model of constant micro transactions to progress even slightly really wore me down. Eventually doing dailies, progressing, and chipping away at events was like an hour of my day everyday and I realized it was just a meaningless timesink

Apparently the beta is running on iPhone 12, to give you an idea on the minimum specs they want. One thing I've seen is that the Chinese beta testers are noting that the UI is too busy. It doesn't look bad in the preview but the aspect ratio looks more like a tablet than a phone. We might see skills truncated or combo more to make it easier in the final version. As for me, I'm most interested in Black Mage and Scholar. Both jobs are ones I used to main but dropped because of controller button bloat, so having a version designed specifically around succeeding with fewer buttons naturally attracts me back to them.

After watching the gameplay trailer, my perspective now is that the jobs at lv. 50 on mobile have a lot of skills we only get to see way past Lv. 50 on the PC/Console versions, which is a real positive thing. Also means that the combat will be a bit more streamlined and showcasing the flashy side of each job, that we only get to see from lv. 50-60 onwards at the 'base game'. I only wished they gave up on MP as a resource, because you are already managing a LOT of buttons to press -- to the point you could activate an action you don't want to, due of the screen being so small (assuming it's a phone). Having only HP and a job gauge that we currently have would be nice, focusing on expanding the job actions and making the combat feel more impactful as a result.

This already looks VERY problematic, most mobile games have like 3 to 5 buttons....this game has like NINE already and feom what it seems like a wheel to switch to MORE skills.....are they out of their mind? This is mobile NOT pc.....will be a huge turn off for people.
