The biggest buff I want to see for BLM in DT is removing those silly ziplines between dungeon trash packs that cause me to lose umbral ice cause they take up so much time.

Turning Manafont into an excog-like buff that triggers when you hit 0 mp (or low mp, so it is still usable before flare / despair) is a great idea! I also think that repositioning ley lines once could go a long way towards making burst windows feel nicer, especially for more casual players. My personal pet idea for black mage is to give it something similar to Thin Air, so it can cast free despairs somewhat on demand. Or maybe like the ShB Thin Air, so it is a burst window where you can spam strong spells.

Hehe phlegma balls Jokes aside, I solely memorize my buttons by their pictures and their position on my hotbars. I've played some jobs for hundreds of hours, and I have possibly thousands of hours on PLD, and I couldn't tell you what most of the skill names are. Or I could maybe remember the names themselves, but not which buttons those names actually refer to.

I think it would be nice to change BLM's Fire/Paradox to have a 1.5s cast time for ARR so that you don't need to glue your eyes on the hotbar to react to Firestarter in 0.5s.

That would kinda defeat the purpose of blm in arr then tho, cuz the only reason you have to play it there is for the feel and nothing else. The actual fix to this would be to make firestarter able to stack up to 2 stacks. It wouldnt really affect gameplay in endgame and fix the issue of reaction time

As someone who is an NA native who made an alt on SEA for a friend, I SUFFERED with BLM being nearly unplayable because the latency on Firestarter proccs meant I would need to wait to know if I had a procc or save it for the next full rotation. It made playing BLM actually impossible on that server as a result

I think the main thing is that endwalker casters are what ffxiv has been like outside of the 2 min meta: It's unbalanced, but unique. None of the current casters really play like eachother at all, something that a lot of other players have voiced their issues with for the whole rest of the expac roles. We could give them all limited raises to balance them out and let them all have the same dps, and change the kits to be much simpler to make it more fair, but then we've just made what the other roles look like. I think going forward, casters will never be truly balanced, one will always rise to the top of any said goal, and people should understand that its the price we pay to make it something to discuss and consider.

Yeah, I completely agree. RDM does strike more of a utility leaning caster class given the ability to constantly rez so I think asking for a “balance” would have to mean either give the resurrection ability a cooldown and treat it like dps focused class or keep it as is.

Although it would be cool, I just want more buttons to push on Summoner, maybe with Aetherflow. Really all Energy Drain is good for us Fester weaving afterwards. Maybe a return to having a DOT or two outside Garuda's Slipstream to make the job lean back to how it was originally with sustained damage. Also obligatory Umbral element summons before Phoenix phase

Summon Bahamut = Get Umbral primals with their own way of interacting. Then summon Phoenix and get Astral primals. Then finish with a big boy summon like Alexander's judgement protocol or something.

Dots don’t add anything to Summoner other than another button to press. Considering the datamine of the Benchmark uncovers they are adding another third Demi-Summon after Phoenix. Summoner is going back to being on a 3 minute cycle. Also it does not look like they are not having DoTs return as a stand alone gcd.

I like the notion of the "build-a-rotation" they were mentioning, where you have all 6 and have to choose which ones you need for that stage of the fight. Also, with the 2min window, I think being able to choose whether to use Bahamut or Phoenix like in PVP would be more interesting as well. Maybe tie rezzing into Phoenix to lessen the rez tax on the overall DPS.

Expedience got memed on as "Combat Peleton" because ShB ruined SCH, and EW did absolutely nothing to address any of the anger or criticism. The actual value or power of Expedience did not factor into those events at all.

@@billy65bob Except it wasnt Peloton, and the memes were more focusing on how Astro gets this wide range buff + calling down the stars themselves, White Mage got a ground AoE repeating heal, and Sage being an entire new job, while Scholar gets ... uhh combat Sprint. but as Hippeus says, the 20 seconds of increased movespeed and the party wide mitigation at the same time ended up trivializing fights because you could never design a battle around it, with only 1 healer having it, and it didnt give you 20 seconds every other minute of +50% ms, it gave you FOURTY, because you already had 10 per minute, meaning the uptime of that part of the buff (which isnt even the main use, its a gimmick) is double what it says it is

@@Nazuiko mate, I was there as one of the many angry SCH mains. I'm telling you the merits and utility of Expedience literally did not matter. Our favourite job got absolutely lobotomised going into ShB, and we wanted this lobotomy undone. Instead going into EW, they announced that "We are happy with healers where they are" and we were livid as a result. Expedience, despite its obvious utility, was as a result, clowned upon as "combat peloton". Again, I stress: the merits. *literally. did. not. matter.* We didn't want expedience, we wanted our job to be fun again and not so utterly braindead.

I like the on-use white shift/black shift for Red Mage. Something to make it feel more like an actual hybrid. Make it so Vercure is the only usable spell white spell in black shift. White shift lets you raise, Regen, AoE, barrier at the cost of %dmg. Black shift you lose access to those spells and 20% less on vercure but deal increased damage and maybe access to a really nice black spell. I recently came to RDM and found it was really weird my DRG had the same amount of party buffs. There's other cool things like maybe black spells put a debuff on the boss that increases spell damage taken by 1% stacking up to 3-5. White spells do a small amount of healing to the lowest health party member, or grant you a shield that stacks up to like 15-20% of your health or something. I'm just spitballing here, these are just ideas that I think are cool that'll give it more of the feel of an actual red mage, I'll leave the balancing to the professionals. But it would be awesome if something like this allowed you to queue for non-savage trials/dungeons as a healer or be a designated healer out in the open world, etc.

besides a damage boost, red mage needs a personal mit (manaward/smn shield) & sprint shouldnt use up a dualcast. i love playing rdm to help friends with ulti prog, but the low damage & having no personal mit feels so bad compared to other casters

@@belowaverage3451Same with mounting. While it's not as readily as a problem as sprint, it does lead to some awkward situations. Say you were out in the world & you are fighting like hunt board marks (not A ranks or S ranks or I guess they count if they're close enough to each other, haven't seen that happen) or doing treasure maps & the map ends up being in the same spot, you mounting up will make you lose a potential dual cast.

All I want from the devs is for red mage ogcds to have timers that properly line up with 2 minute windows. It's insane that they actively changed the 45s cooldowns on sage and whm to 40s, but never touched red mage.

@iPlayOnSpica I understand the thought process here but I can assure you that it wouldn't be any more of a problem than it is now simply because rdm optimization already requires you to work around your ogcds coming up at bad times. The reason for this is that we have an odd number of finishers, so unless that changes, the odd ogcd alignment will always be standard with red mage.

Very cool video. As a caster main and even more sadly RDM-Main in usual, i had a rough time in EW. Sometimes i said to some friends, that i can understand, how MCH was feeling in ShB though. ^^ Abyssos was horrific and the moment where i was thinking about unsubbing the game. Being tortured by those balancing issues was hard for me. I even swapped to SMN in the end and it nearly broke my heart, that i did way more damage on SMN than on RDM, even though i'm playing RDM since it was released. Being not rewarded by playing a more difficult class nearly perfect compared to a "phys ranged", where you need 5 pulls to optimize it, was really hard to accept and it made me angry. I think SE just simply doesn't know, what RDMs need and where the problems are. Like for example the forced spellspeed on gear since the end of shadowbringers which causes a DMG-down on RDM because of drifts. This sucks. And always getting the answer from SE that the balancing is fine on casters because RDM and SMN can rezz is just pissing me off XD. I'd love to see that SE removes the rezz from the casters, so this excuse fo lower damage is just gone and the healers actually kinda have to do their job again. And if they give RDM another finisher i'll personally travel to Japan and slap Yoshis ass. I'm very curious about the pictomancer and if the rezzes stay like it is, i'll probably start on redmage and gonna swap to Pictomancer if the more damage is needed. But i really really hope, they get rid of the balancing between the ranged and melees again. I was missing the option of having triple ranged comp without being afraid of damage in Endwalker, so this is the biggest wish that i have for dawntrail :)

It would be interesting for them to give summoner their dots back with something similar to Eukrasia from sage. And maybe since they’re going to expand the jobs as they are now we could hope that whenever they add new summons we can access them through that eukrasia mechanic.

Dots are not interesting on Summoner with how they barely interact with the kit. Black Mage is held up as the standard because every skill on the job integrates with the kit seamlessly. Shadowbringers Summoner sucked because players were fighting against the job not optimizing the fight.

The issue with the class is not that it actually fulfills its stated fantasy now, but that its rotation is too simple. I wouldn't mind seeing the other three primals, if they add them, augment the existing ones if they feel that six gems is too much. I also would love if the ones they added would be outside the standard picks, but that's also because I'm biased for Ravana lol

The main change I'd love to see is changing ley lines to between lines while ley lines are active, I mean merge them in the same slot. I play on console and I have enough slots for all abilities but freeing a slot is always nice.

Personally I don't see why a raise has to incur such a massive tax. This is a relatively new thing. Summoner and Red mage weren't top of the dps charts in Shadowbringers, but they weren't rock bottom either. Rather than advocate for removing their raises, why not just simply advocate for the tax to not exist? It didn't exist in Shadowbringers and no one had an issue with it there. Going into Endwalker, I didn't hear anyone mention that red mage and summoner needed to be nerfed due to their raise. Shadowbringers even had fewer body checks than Endwalker does, making their raises much more useful. Yet when dps checks became tight with P8S and TOP, so many people were screaming for the raise to be removed. The problem isn't the raise, its that they arbitrarily decided that having a raise should mean they do substantially less damage. They could just not tax rdm and smn so harshly. The idea that there HAS to be a tax feels like something that we all just decided on for seemingly no reason.

@@WeskAlber Its possible, yes, but it feels like its such a small niche where the deaths have to happen in just the right way in just the right time in order for your raise utility to be effective in savage and ultimate. Being able to see a few seconds of a mechanic that probably won't get all the information for anyways feels like too specific a use case to warrant such a tax. If its truly problematic, then I think there's plenty of compromises to be made where you can still have it as part of its job identity, but it doesn't need to be taxed so heavily.

Nice video I switched from Bard to summoner purely for the easier to use stuff because my main struggle is mechanics and with less having to memorize stuff made it easier for me to actually not die as much (mental disorder struggles lol) as a result I have a much more enjoyable time

I have played a lot of red mage, and I think I'd add an incentive to choose whether you're going to verholy or verflare other than just where your mana gauge is. Perhaps a stronger finisher - kind of like how monk works. This would give you something to plan other than when you're going to use your melee combo, and encourage you to force the gauge to one side or the other. I don't really play smn, but I might if it had a shiva mode. That could be really cool. I don't play BLM enough to know what it might need. What I have played feels really complete, but maybe giving it some satisfying *boom* moment that required set up outside the normal cycle could be fun.

Hey Rinon, big (and new) fan. I dont really play casters (melee main) but I still find it interesting to hear about what top players for a role have to say. Were you considering doing this a series that would include most if not all roles? Could be a nice thing to create at the start and/or tail end of expansions for documentation's sake. As you said at the beginning of this video, its always fun to look back on how things were. Love the content, keep at it and best to you!

I love the idea of white shift and black shift red mage but that's 100% not happening. Black shift party finder red mages would just create unnecessary toxicity. Imagine progging and the red mage in the party won't switch stances because "muh dps"

The change I'd like to see is for the rez caster to get a hard cast damage spell that shares a cd timer with resurrection. That way in prog you have that res option to learn fights, but going without it rewards you with damage. It also serves to add some complexity in choice and with it being a hard cast you have to have a plan for it to work.

Adding positionals to RDM's melee combo would help with the job fantasy of a spell fencer and add that little bit of complexity that I want for the job. Also adding more utility spells would be nice.

Rinon, your FFXIV videos are easily my favorite. Your healing and world race retrospectives, discussions with other players, and insane commitment to ulti PF are miles - oh you're EU, kilometers, sorry - more in depth and interesting to me than the endlessly recycled "top 5 things you didn't know about FFXIV". As for questions - maybe you can answer this one yourself! - in addition to the (supposed) split between pure and barrier healers, there is also a split between healers with and without raid buffs. How meaningful or impactful do you think that split is? Would you like to see WHM and SGE given buffs or some other utility to give healers more non-healing support actions and if so what kind? Would any SCH mains like to have more involved buffing/have it be a larger part of their kit and if so, how would you implement it? I know that's a lot, sorry :D

the only relevant changes to summoner's kit would be how ping friendly it remains in dawntrail. it's an insanely popular class and should remain a low skill floor class moving forward but it would 100% benefit from having a higher skill ceiling. im curious how these players would change the class while preserving how approachable SMN is to players with high ping.

Please don't change Summoner, I am finally enjoying FFXIV because of how ''braindead'' the job is :'D I have enough thinking having to be done in work and I struggle to enjoy games which required additional deep focus and thinking. It is nice if there is a variability between classes - a difficult option for those who want it and simple (or braindead, as some people love to call it).

They'd need to be very close in potency to align with square's ethos of trying to keep the floor and ceiling close together but that would definitely solve a ton of issues with it basically feeling like a phys ranged with less utility.

One thing I’d like to see for black mage is when using paradox, since it’s technically an ice attack, if you fail to get a fire starter proc you can cast only 1 fire 3 at half speed and reduced damage like you were switching back to astral phase pretending that paradox is umbral phase. This gives blm 1 emergency weave window to make playing blm without clipping a little more accessible. Cause as it is now, even if you manage your instant casts and cooldowns perfectly you only get 1 gcd window out of 9 to use those instant casts, and if cast a 3rd fire 4 and can’t go for the 4th without getting hit that 9th gcd is gone. Using a quickened fire 3 is probably gonna be bad for the parse, so if you don’t need it you can ignore it. It probably will set you back, but it won’t feel as bad as clipping or needing to use despair early, or worse using blizzard 3 early or last second transposing.

I liked a lot of the suggestions, especially Peri's suggestion of increasing the RDM finishers cast speed - I personally, despite how it increases the skill ceiling and adds for some great cooldown usage, don't like the oGCD drift on RDM caused by having an uneven number of finishing spells. If the cast time on them was adjusted, potentially this would help it, though the addition of new skills might just bring back drift unless all of this was done with that in mind. I think the drift of Fleche and CS will be here to stay though - it feels cool to have Acceleration both deal w procs and deal w drift, despite it also being a bugbear for me w how the job feels to play.

Im a melee main, and honestly I envy the uniqueness of casters, sure they are not balance in every scenario (prog, speedruns, etc) however that is what makes them unique! some are better at somethings and worse than others. As melee any job I play do the same, damage, sure with different flavors, but still. If all caster had raise, or none did, then they would all feel homogenized in my opinion and we all know how that went with tanks and healers. I agree with Sfia that we need more unique utility like expedience.

I personally think changing summoner to start with bahamut rather to work TOWARDS it, as it was previously, makes a massive difference in terms of how the class feels. I really think they should have made it the other way round: use your crystals to summon each egi/summon and after that, do your final bahamut cast (basically similar to before, but less clunky and convoluted). It was just such a good feeling when you went through your rotation and then, as the cherry on the cake, you summoned big bad bahamut/phoenix to fuck the enemy up.

So for summoner For every simmon there should be a button that is available that can be intervened between rotations Ex : if i summon titan there should be a move available from titan while im summoning infrit that adds some type of versatility maybe a support like a mititgation or a movment ability and for infrit a dot from garuda or powerful OGCD that can weaved inbetween the gap closer finish

For SMN, there should be more summons, I do know there is a Egi for Sephirot, that shows up in the Summoner quest line, maybe having the Warring Triad Egi's as set of summons.

It has too many summons, that’s one issue with the job currently. There is no flow because you’re constantly summoning which makes your demi phases feel inconsequential as a result. Don’t get me started on the visual clutter either.

Id like to see rdm get a new on-demand instant cast, along the lines of Xenoglossy or Ruin IV. Relying on dualcast makes mechs with continuous movement a knightmare. Right now, its other options are swift/accel, enchanted reprise (dps loss), and its melee finisher combo. Adding another more flexible tool to those would make the job feel much better imo

Haven't played much of red Mage yet so I'm just gonna put my things for Summoner and black Mage here. Things to add: Black Mage - one of my biggest fears with black Mage is Leylines. I'd love for them to make it bigger, or the idea to move it once after cast would make things a bit easier for people who have anxiety over it like me. Summoner - the heavensward job quests literally started out like you were going to get the other three primals, and it didn't happen. I would love for Leviathan, Ramuh and Shiva to become apart of it's kit in some way! They could even act as DoTs, maybe inflicting frostbite, thunderbite and waterbite? Things to change/remove: Black Mage - not gonna lie, I legit forget my thunder spells so often. Maybe give them a buff or a shorter cast for easier weaving that isn't proc based? Summoner - I don't think the raise for Summoner should be removed per say, but what if you could only raise during Phoenix phase? Phoenix's whole thing is revival after all! Maybe outside of Phoenix phase you can't swiftcast, or it takes your whole mana pool to discourage raising outside of Phoenix phase.

Right now the only change I can imagine being pretty cool and maybe good from the top of my head is Summoner getting a passive buff depending on which Primal is in the field. Not anything simple like BRD's songs, but not so huge that it makes alignment stricter on the 2 minute meta. I imagined something like a Spell speed buff during Garuda, an Arcane Circle-like buff but the number of GCDs used also make the finisher cost proportionally more MP(no damage buff though) during Ifrit, and a Titan phase that stops your MP regen but gives you a bunch of ways to gain and use Aetherflow(there really should be more abilities using that imo) so you can still regain some(alongside it overall just being more MP hungry too). Obviously it can be something else much more simple than that, but this kind of buff during each phase gives a lot of leeway for both flexibility and planning without making the job too difficult/complex for those that like it nowadays. Don't really have anything for RDM or BLM though so here's that.

I love the idea of RDM having Mana Shift from PvP so that you can choose pre-pull, with Black-shift being DPS focused while White-shift is more 'supportive'. I think it'd satisfy the kinds of RDM players who want more focus on DPS while not ignoring those who love the jobs more supportive side of its kit. My question would be, though, if White - Shift kept Verraise, what would Black - Shift replace Verraise with? How would Vercure be affected, since it is used to proc Dualcast before the boss becomes targetable.

I'd like to say Rdm needs a "Chain Spell" put it on 90s make it act like lightspeed on AST and it's a cooldown to ensure your ready for 2 min bursts by being able to fast cast white/black or save the day chain raises if they really want to keep it as a supportive role. That or something that converts all your white/black into a big burst over doing the melee combo burst

I think allowing players to move leylines would be really stupid. The whole interesting thing about the ability is the limitation on movement that it requires. Finding good leyline spots is the interesting part of that ability. If anything, I think BLM needs more things that require them to be stationary for long periods.

That kind of stand and turret playstyle just isn’t compatible with modern FFXIV fight design. So many EW fights involve very extended movement sections, think Superchain, Pantokrator, Classical 2, Fourfold flames etc. There’s no way they’re going to reduce the mobility of BLM when a lot of players already have trouble keeping uptime.

I think having RDMs rez not play so much into their power budget helps a lot, the rez is iconic and extremely useful so I don't think you should ever restrict its use, but maybe give RDM a buff that falls off for so many seconds if they rez, or if they don't wanna add a buff, make it so the rez makes you generate less gauge for a while afterwards, the versatility is part of the class fantasy so stopping you from using it is something I think they should avoid at all costs, (which is also why I don't think it should cost gauge to use) but rewarding you for focusing on damage could go a long way

Smn needs some of their Shadowbringers complexity back Deleting their combat raise isn’t it imo, since they can’t bypass the long cast for it if swiftcast is down (where Rdm still can) I’m thinking, coming out of Phoenix phase….the available summons/primals should be Levi, Ramuh, and Shiva and maybe more hard hitting hard casts from those three/DoT application and not too exceedingly long hard casts like with Ifrit being channeled

For tanks: Do you feel the mitigations added in EW were required in content to a reasonable amount? As a follow up would you want to see more the same or less mitigation requirements in dawntrail? Would you like to see flights with more enemies to control aggro of in savage (i.e. 2 or 3 bosses at once)?

What I really love about the rez casters. In casual content like dungeons or trials. As a healer main, I have big time Anxiety to die and loose the fight that way. Having someone in the party that can bring me back is a HUGE relive. Balancing Jobs is a tough cell because you could balance all of them to the high tier raid content. But then smol Jimmy whos started blackmage is making less damage than the healer. But if you make it to beginner friendly pros and end game players loose interest. At the moment im in between those two extremes and im enjoining all of the casters. Plus being the last one alive in a Raid, rezing the healer so he can bring everyone back with an LB3 is just the best feeling ever. I dont really know what Sqare could do to improve this situation, but for Summoner I would like more Egis to summon or select from. Having 5 and per Bahamut/Phenix you can summon 3 of them.

- For Red Mage I would love to be able to hold 2 Progs for VerFire/VerStone as well as VerHoly and VerFlare giving a guaranteed Prog even if both Black and White Mana are exactly equal. - For SMN I would agree to the suggestions of either giving him 6 Summons he has to manage or giving each Summon more possible actions than you are able to do in your window, choosing between weaker mobility casts and stronger hard-casts. Maybe even both. - For BLM I honeslty just again agree to the suggestions made: Manafont should give you a buff that auto-activates afte a Flare/Despair/if you are below 800 Mana, and maybe as an option you press the button manually again to force activate it. In addition to that I would also agree to the suggestion that the effect of Lay Lines should linger on you a bit even if you have to move out of them (or that you can summon them to you once per use). And just so level 50 doesn't feel as bad: Allow me to have 2 Stacks of Firestarter so I don't have to make the decission between Fire 1 and Fire 3 within my friggin Slide-Cast window in Crystal tower XD

Vibes :v At least kinda. It depends on what you need right now and anticipate needing in a while. Naturally you want the highest damage reduction when you have the most damage incoming, ie when a boss is doing a tank-buster or when all the mob packs have caught up and then you use your weaker ones between that. Reprisal is extra nice if you time it to an enemy AoE. If you want to maximize your uptime a good rule of thumb is to alternate short and long cooldowns, prioritizing the class-specific shortest one since all of them have great uptime to cooldown ratios. But the exact rotation for maximum uptime is different for each job and the best timings is going to be dependent on the fight

Short cooldown + long cooldown. Rinse and repeat. If you need more mits later you either get mits from your co-tank/healers/dps- or you move your long cooldowns around to have something up; alternatively you just use them earlier. Biggest issue is really just getting two oGCD slots tbh. Or just pull up a mit sheet from The Balance and ooga booga :^)

my biggest dream for summoner is to become an expy of Bayonnetta 3, summoning your big Egi and Demi's and alternating between a strong attack and light attack of gemshine and ruin spells to cast a quick powerful egi/demi attack.

8:25 IIRC the reason they axed the DOTs is because there is a hard limit on DOTs on bosses which could really mess with dps classes relying on dots, so for them to bring in a DOT class, they would have to rework how the game handles buffs and debuffs entirely

I really like Red mage, im far from the skill ceiling but i would like the meele attacks change to different finishers rather than the basic jolt become finisher combo. This would slighly increase the difficulty of the job but it could give more versatily and even appropiate single target and AoE specific options for the finishers.

People talking about pve white/black shift that either damage buffs or enables infinite raise gets me very excited for red mage, it would be awesome for raiding. Any option to self limit raises would have to still allow red mage to do it as often as swiftcast though I think, or you could easily end up with people getting toxic playing with randoms over a red mage having chosen to not take raise if a healer dies in a dungeon or something, or getting mad that a red mage is slowing down a dungeon by remaining in utility mode for safety. That casual content toxicity potential might stop them from ever doing elective damage buff for utility nerf, but I can hope.

I love Red Mage and it's my favorite dps job. My current issue with it isn't so much that it does lower damage than the other two casters, it's the way its two minute buffs are laid out. Currently at level 80 RDM slaps pretty hard but i think that's because all of its burst fits in its buff window from 100 black and white mana Because theres one extra GCD in the buff window at level 90, you now lose out on two GCDs in the buff window. Losing two hard hitting GCDs really hurts its damage. I would increase its buff window time by 5 seconds and decrease the buff from 5% to 3%. There will likely be another skill after resolution, making four skills drop out of the buff window from 100 mana, assuming it hasnt changed by Dawntrail. I hope whatever they do they make RDM feel as good as it plays now. Also Fleche and Contre Sixte do physical damage but the mellee combo doesn't, please adjust this😂

Oddly the reason that RDM off-gcd (Fleche, Contre Sixte, Melee OGCD's) deal physical or unaspected damage, is so that they are not affected by it's own buff windows. Neither of manafication or embolden affect the RDM OGCD's.

Personally I feel like PCT is gonna be the job that helps put an approximate number to the power of raising. We have jobs in the game that are greed only and we can in tern be like okay this is the power of a raidwide buff, but can't do that for raising since BLM has neither. When it comes to actual skills. Going with everyone talking about black and white shift I'd really enjoy if either black or white shift (feeling black shift) had better MP regeneration with costlier spells. Increasing the mp cost by 1-200 for a passive version of lucid creating a neat interaction where during prog you shift bettwen the two mid melee combo to get a few extra super mp ticks. For Summoner maybe giving it some sort of Radiant Finale type skill where depending on what order you summon your primals you get a different buff(maybe nothing more than which one you summon first or which one is last.) Maybe something like Crit MP and an Heal potency increase? not sure the logistics but an idea. For BLM uuuuuuuuuhhhhhh make the Paradox rotation the right rotation, or something I dunno. Something for Melee dps if we had to replace positionals with something else. Some universal mechanic to the melee dps what would it be? something like making it so they all just through traits have faster gcds than the other roles, or making it so all of them have at least 2 combos stuff like that.

Speaking as an RDM player, I just want more of a spellblade vibe while also adding to their mobility. Ever since the mana changes in endwalker, reprise has been functionally useless, as just a single usage can completely screw you out of a melee in certain fights. I have been advocating for a gcd melee attack on a 15 second cooldown that has 2 charges, is dps even with verstone and verfire, maybe even a bit higher, and it gives a dualcast proc. maybe not those exact specifications, but anything to make those heavy movement phases like pantokrator feel better and not completely unwinnable in uncoordinated groups.

Reprise has some design space for sure. But I think most changes to it would be reworking the ability - which makes it a hard sell for the 90-100 job path. Simply changing it to a 2/2 cost would do wonders. I would add it's range component to the non-enhanced version, it's already functionally useless in this state so there is no reason to make the tooltip confusing.

A question to any Paladin out there: What do you think of your invuln timer being the longest? Some Strats in PF may rely too much on invuln to work with PLD specifically, I noticed.

I haven't noticed a fight where me being unable to invuln more than once has been an issue. Usually PF strats just use invulns for tankbusters or something which are really easy to just do normally if you need to. Paladin has insane DR and can use back to back Shelltrons if needed also. Personally, I think warriors being lazy and using Holmgang on tankbusters is more work for healers for no reason since they could have just used cooldowns and taken less damage.

I will keep shouting this for Black Mage: MANA SHIFT. We had that for Stormblood and I loved sharing my infinite MP. Its the perfect thematic fit for our kit. Let me tip the healer that rezzed me, or charge up the Dark Knight to also do more DPS. ...but also yes Ultima please. Its the perfect 100 capstone.

So I come from the position of someone who started in EW (About the edge of 6.1, finished EW just before 6.2 dropped), maxed out every combat class, although I wouldn't say Mastered, but Caster was my favorite role and still kinda is. Ive done some EXs but haven't gotten fully into Raiding yet. I definitely think Leylines needs SOME sort of change for BLM. Maybe making it a self buff like Presence of Mind is too harsh, but I like the idea of a once per in use reposition. I think a lot of fight design since Tsuki has increasingly become more... Chaotic? Frantic? Faster paced? More movement is needed for the fights, and I expect it to be more so in DT. I think thats the real change I'd like. I think its cast times aren't as scary as newer people think, with Swiftcast, Triplecast, Sharpcast, Hearts, casting *itself* isn't that bad. Its just Leylines imo forcing you to sit for 30 seconds. Compare it to SAM, who has at least pretty close DPS but doesn't need to work that much harder than other Melee DPS. If anything, according to Caster Logic, NIN should be the Melee DPS with the Highest output and no party support. Its easily the buisiest of the Melee with tons of stuff to keep track of. I think the "BLM needs to be incredibly difficult argument" gets thrown out the window when you make the connection. This isn't me saying it should lose its identity, more so a justification of the gap between Casters in terms of Ease of Learning and how they are in harder content and that it should be lessened slightly. Speaking of, SMN. SMN was my "Learning" class. I went through HW Patches to the end of EW with it and did a lot of EXs with it. Personally, I think the sentiment of giving Phoenix new Summons, while certainly being nice visually, wouldn't really change as much unless they make it more utility oriented or something. The issue is that they tie everything to Astral Impulse. I think SMN could do with a Teleport or Gap Closer THAT ISN'T TIED TO RUBY or an actual DoT to upkeep that isn't Slipstream. The ultimate issue with SMN is thag theres nothing to worry about outside of "Oh Pheonix/Bahamut is ready" and Searing Light. I think another DoT would at least give you something to actually be mindful of. But Im also an idiot that tends to forget my DoTs on any class from time to time. RDM... I think is perfect learning-wise, I feel that even if DT is just EW 2 gameplay wise, its numbers should go up and be a middle ground of SMN/BLM. But please no more Finishers, Jesus Christ. I think I saw a mention of a Combo Interrupt that refunds some Mana which could be neat, but I dunno what theyd give it As for my hopes of Pictomancer, I kinda hope its the Dancer of Casters in that its a Caster Support. You can argue SMN and RDM already are that, but Id like a bit more I guess. Support in FF14 is pretty varied, RPRs Barrier being a small Regen when popped is legitimately really fun

Utility beyond res is such a weird concept. You don't need dps utility for 99% of content, unless you're doing crafted gear week 1 savage. Tanks/healers have so many tools that they can handle 99% of shit. DPS need to use their utility only when healers/tanks use up all resources, which is insanely rare (in this tier what, Harrowing Hell? which was cheesed by vast majority of groups by using tank LB3). So only dps utility is... combat res, exactly. since combat res is the difference between seeing the next mechanic and not. People keep harping about dps utility that a) isn't needed and if it becomes needed it will impede already bloated dps rotations (since SE fucking loves giving us hard mechanics right at 2min burst windows).

i only played rdm of the casters, and being a casual player at that (story and regular raids/alliance raids) so i personally believe i cant say much. Also it'll be more than one cuz idk balancing so take your pick or criticize. nonetheless id grant follow up combos to certain abilities like Magick barrier and reduce cooldown. in this example turning vercure into a insta cast vermedica (the base vercure and a 80 potency regen afterwards). additionally let vercure verraise and vermedica grant white mana. grant stacks of a damage buff for casting restorative spells or defensive abilities, enough to make up for dmg loss caused by casting those spells instead of dmg. perhaps a bit more. it would fit into the vibe of the gallant defender that's part of rdm.

An enkindle for the elemental primals would be sick. Especially if it was a hard cast that consumed all your gems of that colour so you have options for situations. Garuda is an aoe feather rain Titan is a conal landslide And ifrit isnt a hard cast, but a nail you place that explodes after X time

13:46 as a BLM player i think it would be so funny if they gave us an upgraded scathe. on a more serious note, i'd really love black mage to be able to cast Double or Triple from FFVIII, we've seen some bosses do it, so im jealous. it could work the samme way as Barrage from bard where it's a Really long cooldown that makes your next spell hit 2-3 times, to balance it it could also cost more, that would also speed up the rotation without giving black mage more MP per phase. though im not very optimist that we'll ever have that kinda ability on BLM...

I want for black mage a fire wall spell. He has mostly bomb based spells, where somethinbg explode from a certain point and do round aoe dmg. That becomes b0oring to see over time. Esspecial, because there is little movements,., while he is casting. Firewall would give him a line aoe attack, that is something new in his pattern. And, allows him aoe, if the enemy are not standing optimal for bomb aoe (similary to drg or reaper). Maybe, it could be a dot attack to. By standing for a short while. Similary to Doton. Or, instant of firewall, could it be a fire beam. Like the ones, whe see in Boznjia and some other bosses.

Making Ressurection spell cost 6000 or 8000 MP maybe good enough as a way to limit caster (especially RDM) from spamming raise, and if this implemented surely they need to increase these rez caster damage to offset the risk of this adjustment (not by much, but enough to lessen the risk of unable to cast GCD for some time due to low of MP). And especially for SMN, i really hope that they add the rest of our iconic eikon (pun intended, pls laugh), make us choose 3 summons from all of them and the specific combination will affect how Phoenix or Bahamut trance will do different things like make some combinations will make these trances GCD be insta cast, some combinations make the trances GCD cast like ifrit phase with extra damage, and some combinations, idk maybe make it deal lesser damage but regen MP(?) to help the adjustment about ressurection spell i said above (but if this is added then they need to give a way for RDM to regen MP too).

A question I would ask one of these top players is about the "freedom" Eksuplosion mentions about Black Mage. I honestly feel like I'd love to play Black Mage more, as I did grow to like it quite a bit back when I went through the process of leveling all DoW and DoM jobs to 90, and started enjoying it in PVP. But I always remember being a little lost on how it's rotation really worked with all the different fires and ices, when I should use stuff like sharpcast, thunder upkeep, etc. It always felt like there was a very fixed way of doing rotations for BLM, and it's the idea of trying to memorize and always follow that that makes me hesitatnt to start playing it again, as I have trouble keeping track with some rotation orders for some Jobs in this game (forgetting a number of skills on Dragoon, certain buff skills slipping my mind when playing Monk, etc.) Hell, even with my main job, Bard, I still mess up a bit here and there despite having it's rotation nailed into my brain in "heat of the moment" situations. So to hear a top player mention a large amount of freedom to BLM rotations caught my ear, and it'd be nice if it could be explained further. I also agree with the idea of a one-time Leyline adjustment skill being added, and a resource cost for res abilities on SMN and RDM.

Since Stormblood I have been WISHING they would add the stance system described for RDM. So RDM can get out of the "prog mage" stereotype and be more useful for faster effective clears. I doubt it will happen by this point but I can still dream lol
