@@moonlitxangel5771 Most of your cast if not all of them are instant when playing Summoner, aside from a few Ruin III here and there and the 2 Ruby Rites in the Ifrit phase. So he's joking that Summoner is a ranged dps since it doesn't cast that much.

@@chipslight738 it’s insane, at level 86 you have all of 5-7 Gcds that have a cast time. Ifrits two spells and astrals flows, Slipstream and 1-3 Ruins depending on your spell speed.

At level 90, you should only have to cast 5-6 spells every 2 minutes provided you use swift slip to sneak it into a burst window. So more or less no casting. 🤣

I played it a bit at start of EW while lvling SCH, but ive been burned by that Job's reworks too much over the years to ever touch it again. Small note for Improv. The heal works like Astros collective, it'll place the Regen buff at the start and will continue to heal the full 15 seconds even if you immediately end the channel. Longer channels of course refreshing this duration.

Dancer's lack of personal DPS is overshadowed by how much fun it is to play. I never enjoyed ranged physical but Dancer made it one of my favorite roles.

You know, it's interesting how people complained so much about old class kits being terrible that the classes got reworked. Like Machinist who used to be a heavy rng kit. Dancer is very similar to old machinist, but for some reason it doesn't get the hate machinist used to. 🤔

I deeply value this sort of videos from you Happy, they help me to understand the new current landscape of the roles when I dip out of the game for a few months. After returning to the game when I haven't for multiple updates, it is daunting and sometimes even discouraging to find SOO much has changed and locating the most up to date, comprehensive breakdowns of what the new jobs are like and how they all stack up has proven to me as incredibly difficult. Also i did stone sky sea p1s and couldnt clear it in time, but i did a bs rotation that i made myself that messed lots of stuff up and i was able to clear it with 10 seconds left so im super confused

Just started watching you, and I love your content. I will be watching this series closely as I am REALLY interested to see what you say about healers. I have 3 of 4 healer jobs at level 70 ( WHM, SGE and SCH - I have only been playing 6 months and get distracted from the MSQ regularly) with the 4th at level 55. When I played WoW, I played healers pretty much exclusively, and that has bled over to FFXIV.

I'm glad someone else recognizes MCH for the use it has. Randoms in party finder generally don't make good use of raid buffs, so a bad party can effectively make bard and dancer's support useless. What good is buffing someone who's on brink of death or eating damage downs going to do?

I love playing machinist(80) but i find myself still distracted by my rotation where i will get tunnel vision on optimizing an overcharge window and miss an obvious danger puddle and die. Bard (61) feels fun but the level climb is rough at times where the kit feels incomplete. Dancer so far has been my favorite, the rotation feels satisfying and the damage hit from the finish of your standard step or technical step feel really good, and (coming from playing SMN(90)) the heal is actually a good heal. Going through roulettes as a Dancer(83) i always feel that I am providing some level of value even if its just clearing crystal tower packs quickly.

As a MCH main, I do think MCH is in a really questionable state right now for ultimate. The less popular melee jobs all have around 50 clears, and the more popular jobs like ninja have over 200 clears. With Dancer having 173 and bard having 137 clears. Machinist is the only job in the game that still have single digit clear count at 9. You can see how far behind machinist is compared to the other 2 ranged phys jobs. When dps check is actually relevant like in the current ultimate, personal dps isn't what matters, how much damage you provide for your whole party is what matters. Lower party damage because of lack of any party buffs, added with having zero utilities like the other ranged phys jobs have machinist in a pretty crappy spot.

I really loved BRD, but in practice the rigidity killed my enthusiasm. Moving DNC buff windows is pretty much effortless, and the mitigation and heal potential is pretty great for prog. I started playing DNC mostly for the mobility, but now it's the least desirable thing in the job's kit, especially since there are a few tryhard parsers in the static that can make the best of the buffs.

@@Agroyboy1 MCH isn't bad, it's just not designed to be a meta job. It's a greedy DPS, like BLM or SAM, but it doesn't have the downsides that come along with being a greedy DPS. So if they made it comparable to other greedy DPS, it would grossly over shadow a lot of other DPS jobs. So either they need to give it utility to compare with its fellow ranged physicals or they need to give it some reason for it to justify the extra cost. My *personal* opinion would be the former. Enhance Wildfire to give it a powerful buff. Back when we were *allowed* to have 60s party buffs, I'd say give the queen a def down effect at 80+ battery. Give it some kind of "Tune Up" ability that increases damage done. Etc. The alternative, giving it very punishing gameplay, is a lot less attractive but I could be okay with it as long as it's done right.

As a MCH main I can say there's a really good feeling of flow to it. It'll go from A to B to C, repeat. Be warned though cause the Wildfire burst window might tunnelvision you. It's a great job for shotcalling since it's so easy to just do your rotation without thinking about what comes next.

I love it because it has 0 RNG. You always get the same heat, always get the same battery, etc. It's like the maiming jobs in that way. Some folks say that makes it boring, but to me, that makes it something I can get comfy in.

mch has the pf hero syndrome where if its strong numbers wise pf will like it and it will significantly help every clear meaning sometimes people prefer not having a dancer/ bard. but if its slightly lower or on par as top end bard/ dancer people say its garbage and useless when its really not that bad.

As much as I enjoyed Bard in Shadowbringers... Man, I love Dancer rn. I wasn't a fan of the changes to Bard in EW so I tried out DNC as my main and it's just been so much fun. The burst feels great, the dashes can be a lifesaver at times and I love being able to provide the party with some extra healing here and there. Also, all the animations are pretty af. (And it's been said in the comment section already, but if you just weave improv in between a GCD without using Improvised Finish, it still gives everyone the regen.)

I will always be a Machinist main at heart, (it's the job that got me interested in the game in the first place, and has been my go-to job ever since) but man, it has been an absolute blast climbing up the current Savage tier on Dancer. And while I have a soft spot for Bard, (since I started as an Archer) there are a few nitpicks I have with it's current version that puts it lower than the others. (the removal of DOT synergy and how Barrage interacts with Shadowbite, for example) All in all, my personal list is as follows: 1. Machinist 2. Dancer 3. Bard Easily my favorite role in the game.

I love physical ranged - easily my favorite. The only thing that really gets me is bard and its rigidity especially having to edit songs down here n' there and gods help you if you die at some point. I'll also admit I hate the idea of moving 2 minute buffs on them whereas dancer it really doesn't feel as big. Sometimes though its really just fun to shoot off a drill or chainsaw or air anchor and not care about buffing everyone XD

I just returned to FF14 a couple of months ago. On finding that my forever main job - Summoner - had been COMPLETELY changed, and realising that I just don’t like the job much anymore, I decided to try out Machinist. And I love it! I just dinged Lv.88 and I’m pretty sure it’s my new main job now. It’s a really busy job, always pushing buttons constantly, but as mentioned, if you accidentally miss something, it’s not the end of the world. It doesn’t take long to get it back on track. And I love the crazy acrobatics I do while I’m attacking. 😂

You forgot the biggest con for dancer - requires absolutely massive APM if you want to minmax the damage. Obviously saving Fourfold Feathers for a bigger burst during Technical Step is good, but it requires you to be CONSTANTLY weaving, and since the animations are short, it's usually 2 buttons per weave. So a standard gcd during burst window has you pressing 3 buttons on average. On top of that, most of the standard "rotational" skills are procs, so you sadly have to look at your bars constantly if you don't set up another way of seeing what button to press.

I'm in post ARR, so I don't have Machinist yet, but I was planning on alternating between it and Dancer for my ranged dps classes going forward As for Bard...well, I never really planned on touching it outside of keeping all my jobs up to date each expansion, and after currently playing it while leveling everything to 50 before Heavensward, I don't think that's gonna change. It doesn't feel _bad_ per say, but I'm not really enjoying it all that much compared to other classes. Maybe that opinion will change, but idk

As someone that started recently, I feel like I missed out on early dancer. I find something viscerally enjoyable about having a barrage of random nonsense constantly thrown at me. While I love playing Machinist, I feel that the dev team could benefit from looking at "engineer" type classes in other mmo's and rpg's. Particularly the engineer from Guild Wars 2. There is a lot to glean there from utility like a rocket jump, a repelling shield, and a variety of turrets and potions that could be put to good use in giving the Machinist mobility and party utility, while still fitting the theme of the job.

I think they are still trying hard to make machinist the "selfish" dps, but that just means they are a melee DPS without positionals or worrying about greeding gcds, so they just end up being useless at skill levels cause they cant make their damage too high cause they are easier to play than every other job.

They are in a decent place, but trying to pinch a burst window of Heat Blast over and over again while double weaving Gauss Round and Ricochet can get really boring.

I can respect that opinion, but I personally hate the idea of party utility this game tries to push so much, so I like to have at least 1 option on physical ranged of a class that works on its own and doesn't need to care about buffing. Perhaps this is because I come from games where personal skill and damage are more important than group gameplay, but I like the "selfish dps" option. I like that the game gives at least 1 "selfish" option on every job group =/

The devs rational is that it is the MOST mobile job... as in... you can move while shooting off skills, the other two require stopping to fully cast their ability. While not having a mobility 'skill', they can still run all over the battlefield and not have to stop while doing damage.

I know that this series has always focused on the PVE experience but it would be cool to see a similar versus setup but for PVP instead as it's become quite popular and I find it interesting that some jobs that I'm not the biggest fan of playing in PVE I absolutely love playing in PVP and vice versa. Of course, in the case of ranged physical I go Machinist for both but I WOULD also use a Dancer in PVE whereas I kind of fell off playing Bard after Stormblood.

Playing dancer can be fantastic or horrible. I can't tell you how many times I have gotten a super under geared partner dps in 4 man content and just been like, "Well this is going to take forever." And of course it does. Those times make me wish I still played more redmage.

I agree it should be a bit better. 75% would give it more consistent damage but still give a bit of bad RNG potential. they could even tie this to another buff so it's not ALL the time, and if they did it in a limited buff then it could be 100%.

@@kolebowyer3837 I would be happy with like 60-65% even. If flourish had 15 seconds of guaranteed feathers it could feel a bit more active, rather than having a solid minute and a half that just kinda feels meh most the time.

@@nerdobird7701 just make it so that standard step gives you a feather instead of having it tied to rng or something. That way they can add / remove feathers based on how much dancer personal DPS is.

ypu mentioned rdm and summoner having met dps, but didn't bring it up with machinist. is machinist high dps now, id always seen people complaining machinist was really weak in dps compared to bard and dancer when their party buffs are taken into account

I play a bard since I first took my thaum to level 12. Now he's 59 and I haven't stopped playing him. I want to take the next step once I hit 60 and MCH looks like a lot of fun but I'm concerned about parties booting them out because they suck so bad. It's hard enough for my bard to find a group for even the MSQ trials so I can't imagine playing a machinist who waits an hour to find a group, only to get booted once they see what class you are. That leaves staying with bard or God forbid, become a dancer. I play a guy and every article I've seen about dancers are all female. Now I could be like Lancer and I'll give bonus points to whoever knows who he is.

You forgot to mention something about machinist. Chainsaw is identical to that blu mage with the big fist (cant remember name), but if the target is moving, there is a chance to actually miss with it.

The problem of FFXIV combat is the rigid, inflexible of skills and rotations. Too complex that make players have to paste their eyes on the skill icons and miss all the beautiful things around them. Lots of cd, ogcd are not a solution to a good battle system that make players feel good.

I think it is worth mentioning higher skilled DNCs can hit the biggest 2 minute bursts out of any job within those 20 seconds of spamming 8-12 fan dances

I think a lot of players seem confused as to why MCH has low DPS, but the devs explained it is because it is the most mobile job, so they gave it a DPS penalty for it. You never have to stop to fire an ability, other than flamethrower, while the other jobs have to plant themselves to fire off a skill. So theoretically, more skills fired should equal more overall DPS. I think what MCH needs is potency increases as clearly they cannot keep up even with the mobility it has.

Doesn't really help that in current raid tier, all the bosses have MASSIVE hitboxes. Uptime is extremely easy even for melee

What you mean by "Lack of mobility" on MCH? Job that does not have a single cast and can do everything on the move. I dont get it. My favorite ranged dps job is bard, so I am not advocation for MCH. I just dont understand that statement. Thx (btw, I hope you are not talking about flamethrower - one aoe dps that nobody uses for dps, just for cool looks).

No dedicated movement skill like Repelling Shot or En Avant. It's still mobile as the entire role, but there are situational uses for a burst of directed movement. Of all of MCHs cons, this has the least impact.

I wish the MCH would let you use the lower level animations, all the flipping and spinning around really turns me off. I just wanna shoot muh gun!
