FFXIV has had some hard times lately, but I'm glad Yoshi-P and the team are still so passionate about the game and willing to celebrate it with the audience, unlike a lot of other game devs and companies that would have shut the game down or put it in maintenance mode by now. I think that explains the "Never stop. Never turn back." quote, so here's looking forward to many more years and adventures!

Looking back may refer to S9 looking back to what/ who they used to have. Turning back or not moving could then refer to citizens not being able to accept the present or events moving forward, like having to accept death or that grief over another is now a thing.

The first thing I thought about when hearing that Poem was that a lot of people complaining for a along while how XIV stays too rigid in some ways. Not sure if that Poem then is more of an acknowledgment or 'eff off'

They should do another umbral calamity, that would shake things up. Also, it would be nice if they would spice up combat and break the mold of dungeons and trials.

While I agree, another Calamity could be interesting - each expabsion is made 2 years in advance. Even if we gave this feedback to the devs, we likely wouldnt see this until 9.0 at the earliest (unless cu3 is already planning this for 7.x-8.0)

When did it become a trend to hate the game? Yes, the MSQ first part was a litlle boring, but Alexandira and the Sphene line, the soul recycling very interesting for me. More interesting then last era FOR ME. Don't let others' toxic opinion poison you, just enjoy the game.

All I want is for housing not to require glitching. That's what stopped me from playing FFXIV. Elder Scrolls Online does housing so much easier.

I hope it is another good year for FFXIV. I just hope that 7.4 will also come out this year or really really early next year. Otherwise we will only have 2 main patches for the whole year and no matter how much there is to do... well let's hope that will not happen ^^'

At a just over four month dev cycle for each patch I'm thinking December 2025/January 2026 for 7.4. Ironically if the pattern holds the first FanFest usually comes just after 7.4 so it most likely means the first (and usually the NA) FanFest would be in January/February. That would be ideal so people have time to save to travel and aren't caught in the crush of travel for the holidays.

I'm not letting my subscription run out because I am bored of the game. I am doing so because I can't afford to spend time or money on the game with some many great games coming out and so many games I need to finish. That said, I will return when Beastmaster is announced and start a whole new year with a new character and enjoying the journey. ;)

Square needs to let the team cook this time, or there's going to be a lot more folks leaving for reasons other than the DT MSQ being an absolute wash. Yoshi's message is sweet but the PR-protection statement for the English VA from Square is still fresh in my mind (and I will hold that grudge against them; it was a foolish decision). Hopefully the company will release its vicegrip enough and pump more dedication into the game, or their biggest cash cow is going to start keeling over from the loss of subscriptions. Here's to hoping the rest of the 7.x content starts smelling like baked bread, however I'm not holding my breath. Happy 2025 regardless 👍

The message comes off as VERY disingenuous, for a LOT of reasons, and is the standard yearly PR speak that Naoki Yoshida has to do just to keep his job... and YES I AM STILL PISSED that they GUTTED Dark Knight and tanks in general in Shadowbringers to play more like A Realm Reborn Paladin, which a common complaint was spam 1-2-3 up until you got more combo paths in the late level 50's which is a bad design choice...

I got stuck in an expansion. Again. I'm just not able to devote the time, or have the reflexes anymore, to get through the instance that is needed to get to the next section of map. So after all these years I'm looking to leave FFXIV and move on. Thanks for the tips and videos, Meoni. It's been quite a journey.
