"no one asked for Clive" the T8 devs did. They loved his character and had him planned long ago, the only thing the ff16 devs asked was for them to play the game to truly understand the character before adapting him

I'm not sure if this is something that was confirmed but if so...That's so Awesome. I've been so excited since hearing Clive is in Tekken 8, and that's from someone who doesn't play Tekken or have the game. With Tekken being such an iconic Fighting Game series - It would mean ALOT of players would be introduced to him and potentially check out FF16. I feel like everyone needs to experience that story.

@NathanTG in the dev talk they mentioned they were loved Clive when ff16 got revelaed and had started talks. The ff16 devs were very open to the idea but wanted to ensure they captured Clive completely so they had put in the request for them to play the game first.

I mean I guess, but when people usually say this they mean they don’t really know the character or that the character isn’t well known. Like with Noctis and Negean they were well known in the mainstream gaming culture and for Negean the mainstream in general

Ok then. My guess was that Square imposed that the guest character had to be from the latest mainline FF, just like Noctis is from the latest mainline FF at the time of TK7.

I love how polarising the reactions are. We can't ignore the one true fact here: The devs seem highly passionate to having Clive featured as a guest character in Tekken 8. So much effort seems to have been put in his kit and stage to make it feel otherwise, especially when paired with his *three videos of devs gushing about the process of making this happen* I agree that Tifa would've been a great addition to Tekken (mainly because she'd be better received due to being a legacy character vs Clive who people are yet to even get familiar with). But I also have a feeling that she probably wouldn't stand out as well as Clive does as a guest character, for better or for worse. She also would probably have the biggest bust size of the T8 roster. That + character customisation? Just saying. Let's not ignore the fact that the devs did plan on making T8 last ten years, so we may get a lot of characters (and thus guest characters) throughout those years. Tifa can't be counted out, but Clive definitely lowers those chances. Also, this basically open the floodgates to some insane guest character canditates. Wonder who they'll bring out in the next season pass.

I'd rather a more balanced approach with guest characters, so not multiple characters from the same franchise. But ideally focused on fg franchises... or at least more fitting non fg characters. Like, i remember that my wish for TK7 was that the dlc guest after Geese were from VF and DOA. So TK would have the merit of bringing together SF, KOF, VF and DOA. That's the kind of thing that i want about guests in fgs.

I always find it strange when people say "This Guest Character doesn't make any sense!?" And I'm like, okay but does any Guest make sense? Like why the hell does Geese, Robocop from MK, Eltnum from UNI make sense, but Clive doesn't? They are guest characters, I always find that the more crazy and out there guests are way more interesting than safe picks. And I'm saying this as a Tifa fan, so people really need to calm down on useless hatred bro. Like Lucy in GG Strive, it's so random, but it's awesome. Negan in T7 was so freaking wacky, and I ended up using him a little more than I thought I did when I first got into Tekken.

@@myoumyou90 That's the feeling i get from the wishes for a new Darkstalkers. That game, no matter how good, is incredibly niche and never did well in these retro release sales. It's not even big in fightcade, that is free rollback perfect emulation. In short, the passionate talk about DS in the internet doesn't match with its real popularity in sales and player base. I think people just want to look at Morrigan, Felicia and Lilith.

Clive Rosfield the GOAT protagonist of FFXVI joins the Tekken 8 He is a badass character I love Clive. I am a huge fan of Final Fantasy, and I can't wait to play him since Noctis joined Tekken 7.

Tifa wouldn't stand out in a fighting game like Tekken full of female characters who already fight like her. The only difference is her large ass chest but her fight kit is basically almost every other female character in the game. The reason why Tifa stands out in FF is that she is the only female hand-to-hand combat specialist main character from FF7 but in the Tekken world, she isn't that unique enough compared to the other females. She would almost feel generic to the rest of the roster but Clive brings a lot of new things with him and his fighting kit.

Also TK became more anime than ever and some girls can do pretty over the top attacks in the supers. Tifa definitely wouldnt stand out. And she would stand out even less in SF and KOF because those games are typically more over the top than TK in moveset.

The fact you believe her chest and ass is the only aspect that differs from other female characters says alot about what you don't know about Tifa's abilities as a fighter. The Devs would obviously make her stand out, not only due to her being DLC character (which already get special treatment) but also because Tifa is a character with such popularity; the Devs would HAVE to put in the effort to do her character justice. With how they treated Clive (literally went above and beyond to reflect his original moveset) I do not see how they would not do the same with Tifa and make her stand out? She has a multitude of moves from various games to fill out her moveset. The remake series (which I can imagine will get even crazier with part 3), the Dissidia series (made different variations of the same named moves between two different games), a freaking mobile game and even flippin' Kingdom Hearts. I'm sorry, but in no way does she not have enough in terms of "uniqueness" in comparison to other female characters. That quite literally makes no sense given there are people who main specific female characters for their own reasons.
