I hate to be the guy that corrects people but I cant let this one slide. first of all, Richard Petty never drove a daytona charger. in 69 he actually drove for Ford. Richard drove the Plymouth superbird in 1970 which is the plymouth roadrunner version of the daytona charger. My resource for this post is Richard Petty himself. I work at RMG Restoration in Illinois and we have worked very closely with the Petty's helping them restore some of their old race cars.

georgemanize that wing actually has a purpose though the car had so much power during development that it would just wheelie for days so they designed the wing to be memorable and functional cus at high speeds the car had little down force and the next season plymouth took a roadrunner and designed the superbird on it

The reason I was into the Daytona not only the way that it's look and perform. It was featured in the FF6 the movie. The 69 Charger Daytona will always be those remarkable and astonishing car.

man I've already got a 70 charger. I went on the internet to look up the nose and a guy had two of them on eBay for 5 grand. I already known it was going to be high but my mind was blown. SLAP, i love these FH2 builds, but you always make drifting builds. I'd love to see you do a Time Attack/Hillclimb build, a car thats all about speed, precision, and grip. With the performance mods available in FH2, it would be certainly possible, and it would add a little spice to the average FH2 video. Just something to consider.

Richard Petty Aka "The King" drove a 1970 Plymouth Superbird You probably already knew this but put the vinyls on the Daytona anyway because its the closest car to the Superbird (Thats is also why "King" in Cars is a Plymouth Superbird) :)

They only produced 503 in real life. And that number is questionable. A lot of Mopar fanatics suspect it was a much lower number than that. It was reported by ex employees that they would roll the cars off the assembly line and run them around the building and back into the other side and roll them through the line again just to make numbers for the books to race in Nascar. The extremely poor record keeping that Chrysler did back in the late 60's early 70's made it possible to do this.

Man I love that Daytona, not only because of the way it looks, but because NASCAR banned all cars with aero at that time because it was just too damn fast. It was also the first car to go over 200 mph in NASCAR.

i love the daytona charger cause it was banned from the rae track for being TOO FAST. i guess nascar couldnt handle all that raw power, much less nascar couldnt handle that dodge knew how to build a street legal racecar that could kickass on the track, if i was to end up with one i wouldnt do any modifications to the body, might shove more power into the engine, just to scare the kids in my neighborhood lol.
