Once again, a very good and also very comprehensive video! I agree with everything you said. There is a lot to talk about monitors. Even the panel technology is very important and should be taken into account as well. Thinking about huge monitors, e.g. 43", it's also important to think about having enough space and what is the right distance for sitting in front of such monitor. Thanks&have a good day! regards from Vienna 😊

When you actually realise 4K monitors are actually 2K monitors based on the measurements for FHD & QHD. Both FHD & QHD take height measurements as their resolution yet '4k' takes the width!! Why?! Somebody explain why you need a 'more' powerful graphics card to 'utilise' a '4K' monitor?!
@w2best2 жыл бұрын
I don't know, it's quite strange tbh. To run 4k 60hz or more you need a port and graphics card that works for it. To run games at 4k native you need a powerful GPU that can render 4k at decent framerate. But if you just want office tasks you don't need it.

Hi what do you think about using a 2018 Macbook Pro 15" with 1440p IPS Monitor or 4K is a must?
@w2best2 жыл бұрын
I have used Macbooks with 1440p a lot and never had issues, but people say there are issues with scaling. Even in this video there are comments saying it. I guess I would try before finalizing a purchase.
@_Digitalguy2 жыл бұрын
For Mac users I would say that scaling can be an issue much more that with Windows. Macs don't scale very well 1440p screens, and if you run them natevely things may look a bit too small... I wouldn't go below 4k with a Mac (unless is a small 22in monitor which could be ok at 1080p)
@w2best2 жыл бұрын
Oh particularly for 1440p? I need to read more about that. Currently I use 4k only for my main monitor.
@_Digitalguy2 жыл бұрын
@@w2best Yeah because they don't offer suitable highdpi (=retina) scaling for those resolutions. You can scale lower than 1440p but then you are not getting the sharpness that your monitor could provide. Or you can scale it natively but then things will look too small. Or you can pick one of the retina scalings but things will look too large... With 4k and 5k monitors instead you can get suitable retina scaling
@_Digitalguy2 жыл бұрын
@@w2best What Macs generally do is cut in half the native resolution to give you retina scaling. 4k cut in half is 1080p scaling which is fine on anything from 22 to 27in. 1440p cut in half is 1280X720... which is too big on a desktop monitor. So you can scale at 1080p but then lose the 1440p sharpness or you can use 720 retina but then things look too big... Maybe some people are ok with 1440p native, but for me it's too small

I have the Matebook 14 AMD 2020 (the one you used to have) and I am currently looking for a home monitor for office use. I am looking for a 27 inch qhd. Is that reasoning correct? Is there any difference in fluidity and animations for office ues? You touched on it but I think it’s important to highlight and might be worth an extra video but upscaling and downscaling can effect your decision on which resolution you go with especially if you are just a content consumer. 1440p is easier to run than 4K and 1440p looks better on a 1440p monitor than 1440p on a 4K monitor. Meanwhile 4K looks better than 1440p when downscaled on a 1440p monitor. So for less demanding games there’s still an option to bump the resolution up. The question is, how much better does 4K on a 4K monitor look than 4K on a 1440p monitor (of the same size)?! $300 better? I dunno. Haven’t tested the two on the same monitor size myself.

4K doesn't mean 4 x 1080p. It is 4x the size, but that's NOT what 4k means. 4K is short for 4096 pixels, or "4 thousand", which was the original theater resolution. 3860px is just a easier to produce version and matches the 16:9 panel shape of the 720p & 1080p. And this 3860 got branded as "UHD", which is technically different than 4K!. But due to marketing, companies ran with the "4K" nomenclature. Seriously though, get it right.....
